I'm guessing the video suggests the problem can be corrected by soldering in a new section of ribbon cable.... It isn't clear but you did 1st show a cable which did not have solder, the a cable which did have solder.... If you did solder an extension into it that is an impressive and difficult soldering job. I appreciate your taking the time to make the video but I'm not sure the video is very useful for me.
My local repair place told me the whole LCD has to be replaced and I didn't believe them. Fir your repair do you have to do soldering? it's not clear in the video. For the cost of LCD replacement I could get another A1706 Maccbook pro. I may just use it connect to the TV as a media player
So what the guy in the video did was to use jumper cables to somehow extend the effective length of the backlight cable. The problem with the backlight cable was that they were too short which is why they were breaking after extensive Macbook use. So the solution has been to extend the cables. There are several ways to do so. One as seen in this video ruclips.net/video/bYtDVjYNxig/видео.html is by disassembling the display(upper part) of the macbook and removing the original LED backlights that provides light to the LCD. This is because apple directly soldered the cables to the backlight. Replace the backlight and you replace the cables. There is a more complex method that requires microsoldering and in that method, you remove only the backlight cables, and yes cables because there are two of them. You reuse the original backlight LEDs. The method that the guy in the video used was the least intrusive as he did not have to disassemble the entire display unit but it still required significant repair skills. He simply extended the backlight cables using jumper cables after first exposing the individual wires in the backlight cables. Then he protected the exposed wiring using epoxy, superglue or some other method. It seemed clear so it was most likely one of them. Then reassemble.
hi there! great video! But I see there are 2 identical narrow cables like the one you fix, there is one at the left and one at the right. How R u sure if need to fix only one or two of them?
my laptop is having this EXACT issue. Just was quote 500;00 from Apple. Got home and noticed if I opened the laptop to about 75 degrees, it worked! At 90, it was flashing and doing all sorts of crap. No offense man, but the music in the video is ridiculous. Actual explanation would've been much more helpful. But hey, free video, so.... thanks.
BTW- Just to follow up: I ended up replacing my display by purchasing online. It wasn’t THAT tough. And there are YT videos showing how to do it. U need a special toolset (cheap), and the display was like 300.00. Saved me a few hundred.

Hi thanks for sharing this. I have the same problem, is it possible to fix the cable for model A1707 too? Or is it necessary to replace the entire screen? Could you kindly point which is the correct cable that I could buy? Thanks in advance
Thanks for the video. Apple product quality is going south. Battery quality of macbook is too bad. I had 2 macbooks which had battery issues and display , mother board issues .
I am using macbook pro 2019 model i have display flickering issue purple lines across the screen can u please say the reason for that and can itget repaired? Is yes how ?
This video is almost worthless. Besides the obnoxious music, we can't see which screws you're removing, nor did you show us actually unplugging the cable! Maybe something with a voiceover instead of dance music?
Hi man. Great job!!! Did you ever seen a problem with webcam (model A1706). In your thumbnails image it seems that the left flat is the camera data transfer. Is it correct? My webcam is not appearing in the system report. Do you know where is the problem? Thank you!
I have the same problem on A1708, stagelight screen problem and no camera detected. I read elsewhere that the flat cable connecting the camera has the same flex issue.
