7 More Weird Changes to Animated Dragon Ball - DBD TV: The Majin Boo Arc Part 3

- Dragon Ball Dissection continues its look at the animated Boo Arc. Now that I'm three parts I thought I'd mix things up with an Internet-friendly numbered list. From villain anatomy to some really offensive tournament comedy, there's something here for everybody!
And just so you don't forget that Dragon Ball GT is coming to Dragon Ball Dissection, I'm holding a contest, the winner of which will receive an S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan 4 Son Goku! It's open to all patrons for July and August. Details in the post below!
www.patreon.co...
GT will be fun, but I'm most looking forward to the final of the original run of DB/DBZ films: "Dragon Ball: The Path to Using GT's Character Designs"
Yeah, I'm not sure how Lance is going to go about it, but I feel like it would make sense to cover the movie first, since it was meant as an introduction for at-the-time new viewers who likely only saw Z.
I want to see him talk about Eighter.
@@olserknam He'll probably cover it the same way he covers *mostly* everything else. As in, he'll slot it in relative to when it actually came out. So based on that (and my own, non-indepth google searching), he'll cover it after he covers the first four episodes of GT, because Path to Power originally released between episodes 4 and 5 of that series.
Also a bit of manga-based coloring never seen in any other animated Dragon Ball!
@@BagOfMagicFood I think there's some of that in DBS Super Hero?
When Bulma called the others cowards for lettings the kids fight, I always assumed that the others didnt answer her because they understood her reaction and fear over her son dying, rather than agreeing with her. Because it's very hypocritical. Bulma has relied on Goku or Gohan since they were kids, and people like Krillin and Yamcha have taken way more risks than her.
When I was a kid watching the show, I didn't hate Bulma for that, but it got me angry she said to Krillin and Yamcha who have suffered more consequences than her.
Also she once brought her baby with her to watch the gang's fight with Android's and nearly got her and Baby Trunks obliterated from Gero's blast if Future Trunks didn't come in an save her.
@@mechajay3358Thank you! No one but Trunks ever gets on Vegeta's case about letting it happen. Why did they ever trust him again?
24:36
When you mentioned hypocrisy I thought you were gonna mention that Bulma was kind of the first person in the SERIES to see a young child and say
"Hey kid, fight that big strong guy for me"
Bulma spent a good portion of her young life endangering children so that she may survive. But now that it's HER kid suddenly it's a problem.
Well duh, because its HER kid (and because she was a teenager/young adult back then and obviously didn’t know better. Having a kid would obviously change things.)
Even outside of parents, its 100% normal/common for a person to put and feel more care and value into the things that are closest to them.
ESPECIALLY when talking about someones literal baby.
Yeah it’s hypocritical, but when scenario ultimatums the things you hold the most dear to go and bump heads with a creature so far out of their leauge that it has a mortality rate that includes GODS; being “fair and balanced” completely falls on the wayside my guy.
Anyone would be hysterical and pissed over that. No option, context or circumstance could make the situation any better or worse, it’s just what it is. And as his parent, this whole ordeal was completely out of her, and everyone elses hands. There’s literally nothing they can do.
When reason flies out the window, and out of your control, how can you expect someone with a human heart to be reasonable?
Honestly the big negative to all this is pretty much what lance said.
Bulma’s hypocrisy is 100% valid and most people could probably see her side of things, even if they don’t agree.
The problem is that this is Dragonball and the anime was being made without the foresight to see where the story was going and the “vibes” this “”””””dilemma”””””” would carry.
Manga Bulma doesn’t give a shit, nobody faces any reprecussions for their mistakes, everythings put back to normal in the end and goten and trunks were going to fight, fail and die.
That’s it.
As compelling as the pathos behind Bulma’s plight was; it was pretty much predestined to never work in the state that the dragonball series was going in right out the gate. So it was always gonna fall flat; regardless of how well intentioned and tonally-sound it was.
It was a good move but the writers were just playing the wrong game; Toriyama was playing chess, while Toei was playing checkers.
Fair, but she was 16 then, and she's like 40 now. That's a long time to mature and gain perspective.
@@YossarianVanDriver: Not only that but the "kid" she was having do all the fighting for her was 14, whereas Trunks is only 8
@@EmeralBookwise To be fair she didn't know he was 14 at first and assumed he was younger. Only to be confirmed he WAS in fact younger when she finds out he was 12.
I like that the Anime gave more Detailed Backgrounds. You can see from the Manga that Toriyama was burnt out on creating new locations.
Such an underrated channel, I’m a pretty recent subscriber and let me just say I’ve literally binged the entirety of your dragon ball dissection and am now on your Dragon Ball TV dissection. Awesome content man.
Thanks so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it, and I hope you continue to.
Aww man, wouldn’t it be cool if after Misterfusion finishes this series that he started covering DragonBall GT? But that’ll never happen…
I don't get why not, seems like a really obvious thing to do, but I guess they're just burned out.... Shame.
That's a great idea. Hope he reads the comments and uses your idea!
He literally says he is covering GT within 1 minute into the video *sarcastically
@@quanthebronxny3996 Nah man you fell for the old announce GT trick. Step 1 you announce GT
Step 2… that’s it
This comment didn’t age well
I always thought that the Freezing Up of the RoSaT was apart of the environment changing, not Buu doing it, because I remember there being a scene in the Cell arc where Goku was shooting Kamehame-ha's at a bunch of ice formations, unless Goku's got one hell of an icemaker in there.
Yeah, it also happened when Vegeta and Trunks were training.
Buu (and even gotenks) do got some dimensional magic powers, they fricking scream a dimensional portal lol
Yeah. The room fluctuates in temperature all the time. It’s one of the reasons it’s so good for training, as it toughens up whoever spends time in the room. 10x gravity isn’t it’s only training gimmick. It has nothing to do with buu, that’s just how the room operates.
@@orbboom6119 Pikon also discovers screaming is Janemba's weakness. Makes me wonder if there's some sort of DB rule that sound disrupts dimension magic
@@nellewoodruff6337 nah that was janemba only dumb trivial weakness🤣 i think its just if you got high af power level you get to bypass magic and dimensions and everything lol
Could be fusion related too, cuz vegetto got turned into a candy and remained with the same strenght.
I always thought that if DBGT was made in the 2000s instead of the 90s that form would be called "True Super Saiyan" (Shin Super Saiyajin) instead of Super Saiyan 4, due to clearly being an alternate path and not a continuation of the previous forms.
But it is the next form. We see it after SS3.😅
@@spartanq7781 Yes, but it's taking the whole concept in a different direction. He goes to 4 without going through the previous levels, etc. Like the Super saiyan God line of transformations in Super. Nowadays (and starting somewhere in the middle 2000s) it's more common to give something so different a name that indicates it's a "branching path", judging from naming schemes for transformation in other shonen series.
Just a silly thought exercise on my part.
I love this series so I have to ask, when you finish the Buu Arc have you thought about covering Dragon Ball GT?
I know that it doesn't have manga content to compare to but I still think it'd be interesting for you to break down :)
He said that several times so far.
@@Fighter_53 he's making a joke lol.
@@Fighter_53 Where? I don't watch the Power Ranger's (Super Sentai?) videos.
You'd think it'd be mentioned in this video multiple times since it's animated Dragon Ball.
@@LanceThumping I gotta be honest, I don't think he's going to do that. Call it a gut feeling, but I just can't see that as a thing that's likely to happen.
@@geybackgeybackson2838 Damn, you're probably right. I'm sad to see the series end after all these years but I guess it just has to if he doesn't want to do GT.
I wonder if it’s worth doing a 1-10 ranking of the animated Arc adaptations - even though the fundamental story beats and narratives are the same, the way they’re presented and either fix things for (mostly) the better, or sometimes a tad worse, make for an interesting enough change.
i support this, the king piccolo arc is pretty great in the anime. red ribbon army takes a bit of a nosedive. etc.
In my opinion most arcs would still habe the same score. Except for 3 arcs really the Piccolo, RRR and Frieza arcs
11:09 The Kai version actually goes a step further and actually shows us Buu's eye color changing from white to red after Gotenks hits him.
I never noticed how messed up the pacing of Goku vs Vegeta actually was in the original version. The anime expands the battle and makes it seem like they are fighting for a very long time with loads of set pieces, but in the context, it could only have been a few minutes for Gohan and Kaioshin to jump down into the ship and then confront Babidi. Makes Freeza's five minutes timeline seem generous.
Toriyama clearly put it like that knowing that the studio would expand upon the fight.
The Japanese Kai version goes even further and changes Buu's eye color to red in all prior scenes!
Well a simple explanation would be that they are moving FTL so of course time will be slowed down and that same thing goes for the five minutes
Actually, the eye color changing thing was in the original.
@@mitchfletcher2386 true. It just feels more significant in Kai for some reason? Like they draw more attention to it? I think lol
I can’t wait to find out if you’re doing to do a DBDTV for GT 🤞
This joke will never not be funny to me
Damn, it sure is a shame that mistarefusion won't be continuing. I'd love to hear his take on something like DragonBall GT.
The reason why Piccolo, Cell and Buu have extra fingers in the anime is because of Japanese TV broadcast guidelines which require a normal amount of fingers due to the Yakuza practice of cutting pinkies.
Well....that's dark
@@nok4799 The reason western cartoons frequently draw characters with three fingers and a thumb is because they're easier to draw.
Is it true they reanimated all of Bob the Builder just to fix that?
@@nok4799 What do expect from basically the Japanese mafia?
I remember big D's video on that
8:22 I remember watching that scene with Yakon eating Babidi's henchmen when I was a kid and was scared shitless of him.
I don't know why, but there's always something so terrifying about eating someone as a method of killing them.
I wonder if the anime influenced the manga in some ways. The Mr Satan flying joke for example, maybe Toriyama saw that on TV and thought it was really funny, so he decided to add it to his manga.
i mean that is actually how we got Bardock in canon.
@@ghoulchan7525 yeah...until we didn't *sighs*
Yeah, cutting back to the destroyed Budokai after Vegeta’s attack was indeed an insensitive mistake. Nobody had a reaction to the dead bodies or that people were killed right in front of them. I know the Dragon Team is used to death, but Mr Satan really seems unconcerned about the corpses.
Another thing possibly worth noting about the way Vegeta restrains Goku with rings of ki is that its vaguely similar the technique Gotenks later uses to restrain Buu, and so it could maybe be considered the Trunks half was mimicking his father's technique... although admittedly that might also beg the awkward question of under what circumstances would Trunks have had reason to witness his father using that technique.
Yea he came into his parents bedroom once without knocking at the door
That Goku and Vegeta filler, came out 4 months before that Buu and Gotenks chapter, where that technique was used. Toriyama must've seen it and that inspired the Galatic Donut move.
Honestly, Bulma calling the characters out is a lot like when Piccolo called out Goku for making Goku fight, but I think this is better. It makes sense that Bulma would lash out give the situation, & I don’t think it’s hypocritical, since Bulma isn’t a fighter. Sure, the other characters couldn’t really stop Buu either, but they still had more of a chance than she did. If anything, Piccolo was sort of a hypocrite in the cell arc, since he was a fighter & was one of the people watching Gohan suffer, though he was about to jump in to save him to be fair.
Picturing Yamcha, Gyumao and Roshi trying to defeat Majin Buu just cracks me up.
Wait, where was Mr. Popo fighting two Super Saiyan children so easily? A filler scene to end all fillers!
It’s been years since I’ve seen it, but wasn’t he just blocking and shitting himself the whole time?
Yeah, that was stupid, thank God it was filler.
@@jasonone8726 Yeah, how stupid Goten and Trunks didn't just try to annihilate Mr Popo for literally no reason. "Holding back"? Never heard of it.
The contest will definitely help, but I think the best thing you can do is just start and end each video with a promo for it. It's not skeezy and it's not awkward, so don't be afraid to sell it as normal and unapologetically.
I don't think DB needs to reminds us of the "sending children to fight", it was never a problem and we have children fighting since day 1.
Facts
There are many ways that the Tournament of Power’s pacing could have been addressed. Cutaway segments seems like one that wouldn’t have worked.
As evidence, I present the cutaway filler for the Battle of Gods arc. It was as insipid and irrelevant as Dragon Ball filler has ever been, and that was only 13 episodes or so. 80 would have been unbearable.
I honestly thought at one point while that arc was running, that they were going to cut back to Goten, Trunks and Marron back on the Monster Island fighting off poachers. Would have been an interesting episode, but it would be too jarring of a break to make it flow naturally. They should've just cut down the number of participants, and use 4 or 5 universes instead of 8.
This is why I perfer the manga.
The anime TOP suffers for me from too much talking from the stands. 95% of it is characters constantly pointing stuff out to the viewer that they already and should know. It's not needed and ruins the immersion (on top of being annoying). Only rarely do they have anything helpful to say.
@@ThelronFjord It's so weird how they were clearly setting that up, only to deliver the pay-off as a still image during the end credits of the last episode.
There's probably no saving the Tournament of Power. The entire premise is broken. The biggest most jampacked tournament ever with all the characters fighting continuously until one is left sounds epic, but that weight and setting works against it. Previous tournaments didn't need as much cut away filler, because there was down time between the matches, but with the tournament of power, there is no "between the matches". The tournament they had in Super where Hit was the final opponent was better. Having this character face off against that character is a lot more interesting than throwing everyone in together, even if the latter superficially sounds more exciting.
Hey, since you’re doing a SSJ4 figure giveaway, have you considered covering GT to promote it?
That Vegeta scene with him monologuing to Goku at the cliff was one of my favorite scenes in the Bruce Faulconer funimation dub
Lol I love the running gag Lance has to remind us that Dragon Ball Dissection isn’t ending. It’s so surreal we final made to the Majin Boo arc. I found this channel couple years back and caught up to the 23rd Budokai Tenkaichi arc. It’s been a fun journey and looking forward to the future.
It's great to hear that Dragonball Dissection will extend onto covering DBGT! I've been watching all DBD from beginning to end as of lately as I wanted to experience it from scratch before getting to the end of your analysis of the original series.
I randomly discovered your videos today, and watching these has made me realize that while I have loved Dragon Ball Z for most of my life, I have never read the manga. I should make time to read it some time.
Did you read it
I remember this from when I was six, but didn't Roshi pay for Goku's meal when he won. I remember vividly him saying that he used all the money to pay Goku's meal after their fight. Then again, this could've been the latinamerican dub and this was more than 25 years ago.
The Muten Roshi pays for everyone's food at a restaurant after the tournament is over. He doesn't pay for the food Goku eats at the tournament. That's probably what you're remembering. Sounds like you're due for a rewatch of the Dragon Ball Dissection episodes covering the 21st Budoukai... or the series itself, I guess. ;-)
@@MistareFusion That's weird, I replied to myself a couple of times with that realization and even the chapter in the manga.
And yeah, I have to do a re-watch of the manga DBD. I was just doing a re-watch of the anime ones just when I saw that you posted this one. These reviews are my comfort videos.
That means a lot to me. Thank you!
Thanks so much for highlighting the Chi-Chi & Bulma stuff! That scene never sat right with me as a kid when Bulma barged into the Fusion Dance training just because Trunks had to lower his ki to match Goten's. Bulma was in some ways WORSE than Chi-Chi during earlier parts of Z because of how much of an annoying nag she was written to be.
I always laughed at them ganging up on Piccolo because I thought about what Chi-Chi would've thought about Gohan's 'Big Green Uncle' leaving him in the wilderness for six months, training him in daily combat which involved her son falling off of cliffs, getting bruised and battered and blasted in the face with ki attacks....when he was only 4 or 5 years old!
Well...i mean, can you really blame him? Piccolo was only 9 at the time. Kids do stupid shit.
@@ZanathKariashi 🤣
I know the contest is for Patrons only, but I do have my own thoughts about an alternative name for Super Saiyan 4...
So, initially I thought "Ozaru-Saiyan", given the more pronounced simian features and the method of attaining the form, but on reflection, I'd probably go with "Shin Saiyan"; the raw, unbridled power and fury of the Ozaru condensed into the mind, spirit and body of the Saiyan's true self.
‘Ozaiyan’
*Return to monke midway form.*
Maximum Over Saiyan.
@@thirdworldrenegade I just knew someone would make that reference eventually
@@FitzyCify
I'd honestly just refer to Super Saiyan 4 as the Legendary Super Saiyan. Vegeta said that the Legendary Super Saiyan emerges every millennium and that he couldn't control his power while in the Great Ape state. Goku was able to harness the power from the Golden Great Ape and go even higher. Not to mention, he's the only one to reach this form without any help. Everyone's a Super Saiyan, sure, but Goku's a cut above the rest. I know Broly is called the Legendary Super Saiyan, but let's be honest, he's really just a better Super Saiyan Grade 3 at best.
I hear you loud and clear, and can’t wait for your GT coverage!
One thing I will say about GT, I always thought it was interesting to see how the others looked whenever they popped up in the back ground. Can't wait for an in-depth detailing of Yamcha's slicked back hair.
Just wanted to say I am a new fan and your videos blow me away! Please keep up the amazing work. :)
If I were to rename Super Saiyan 4 it would definitely include reference to Journey to the West in there. Wukong has many titles I'm sure that I somehow can't remember off the top of my head.
I have to wonder if Porunga considered Idasa and Ikose's mom bad enough to not revive her and leave her kids without a mother.
I never really considered it, but it's kind of fucked up that Bulma doesn't get to keep her body in otherworld. At this point in the story, she has DEFINITELY done as much, or maybe even more, good that Goku had by the Saiyan arc. Flying the heroes to Namek? Inventing the time machine? Playing a big part in making Vegeta not-as-much of a psychopath? All the wishes she made possible? It's too bad the story didn't utilize her more, they have the richest and smartest person on earth on their side, but she's relegated to watching TV and nagging the heroes after Frieza.
I mean it's not like she is a warrior that's was the only use of them keeping their body after death.
im interested to see you cover the gt special with goku jr. i feel like that one gets overlooked by most of the community, and has a lot of traits i feel like you tend to gravitate to in stories.
or im wrong and you just hate it.
i guess im kind of dreading gt/potentially super if its going to be largely negative. like, yeah, both have lots of problems but i feel dragon ball's greatest strength has actually never really been covered in this series, and thats toriyamas skills as a draftsman, in his panel to panel layouts and framing/posework. so maybe it wont be a miserable slog since thats super/gts greatest failing imo
I can call a little hypocrisy on Bulma's part for calling the gang out for putting children in danger when she did the say thing with Trunks as a baby when she took him with her to see the group fight the Androids and nearly got her and Baby Trunks obliterated by Gero's energy blast.
is it really hypocrisy for someone to do this and later realise their own mistake?
@@hawshimagical When no one in the story acknowledges that a character is a hypocrite so that we don't have to guess if they learned from their flaws off screen, yes.
@@GMP1isReal to be fair, as an author, it is better writing to be clear with intent on these things, yes. but still, in general, people make stupid careless mistakes
18:28 Unless you're watching the dub where they had to always make characters talk during flashbacks. So many more "wait, that wasn't in the manga?" moments. There are just so many things that are considered the core of Dragon Ball like Mt. Paozu that are anime only filler.
I just like that there was a Brian Drummond version of that monologue!
Even tho I am not on Patreon. I had this idea about SSJ4.
Seeing how they made Broly use Oozaru power without transforming in the Broly movie. SSJ4 could return as the perfected version of that. A transformation exklusive to Broly, where he becomes half-Oozaru. Since the aforementioned use of Oozaru power is called "Ikari no Jōtai" the perfected form could be something like "Kanzen Ikari" or "Shin Ikari".
Oh, MistareFusion. We're not laughing at human tragedy. We're laughing at the fact Mr. Satan dropped his towel in front of those reporters!
I really hope you do GT when you're done with DBZ, but I haven't seen that confirmed anywhere, it'd be really cool if you do GT though
So I will admit....you are right about Goku and Vegeta's fight it's pointless I've grown up from my child years and come to terms with that as a 29 year old. But.....and this is a but that is short term as hell. I do like the way it looks...I know narratively that's a dumb reason to like it, but everything from the techniques and the fun slow mo and even the music. It's a "Fireworks Fight" it exist to look pretty . I've come to grips with that.
The fight was pointless, because it went nowhere, but in some ways, it wasn't pointless, only because, if they never fought, we wouldn't of had that iconic moment, of Vegeta sacrificing himself, to kill Buu, he felt that Buu being revived, was all on him and it led to Vegeta, fighting Buu on his own. Or it could of been Saiyan Pride, thinking he could take on Buu himself.
Wonder if you are going to talk about that manga where Chi Chi hooked up with Goten and Trunks. Now THAT was a weird chapter...
I always enjoyed the anime fillers and learned to love them as part of DBZ as a whole. I see them as canon fanfictions.
Kai The Final Chapters has an interesting way of subtly changing Super Buu's eyes. Instead of lifting his head and they're just red, they're white briefly and then become red, almost like it's Super Buu getting excited.
Always found it funny how they decided to change Buu's eye color by powering up, likely to fix that problem... XD
Ah yes, the old mittens vs gloves debate
Mistare Fusion is awesome
Agreed. Bring on the GT!
I actually think the white eyes make Buu a bit more scary.
12:20 - In the middle is the man Kami took over in the tournament.
Dragon Ball Kai actually shows Super Boo's eyes changing from white to red.
Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters does; in Dragon Ball Kai, his eyes were never white to begin with!
Just leaving a message to help with the algorithm
I'm saving your videos for a little marathon at the end of summer so looking forward to enjoying your hard work
Bulma chewing out the other characters for treating death like a temporary vacation always hit pretty hard especially when I first watched these scenes literally 20 years ago. definitely appreciated the seriousness brought to the situation... because boy did the buu saga need it :/
Very happy to see this. And looking forward to GT. I know you're doing it! Keep it up!
I think I saw this in the "Dragon Ball Redux" project on Deviantart (a project to fit every single Dragon Ball content in a neat storyline) - "Hitozaru". Like a... well, human monkey. I personally love it and used the term in my own DBGT fanfics. I remember expanding on the fact that SSJ4 is actually a continuation of the Oozaru line, like a Oozaru 2 of sorts.
20:50 I dunno, I found that scene to actually be kinda funny from the perspective of "Oh look, Vegeta did rub off on Bulma afterall!"
Giggity.
@@ThelronFjord I really should've thought about my phrasing more... -_-
I remember when you did the GT live tweet awhile back. Looking forward to the GT dissection
Do you guys think he's gonna cover GT? I kinda think he will... but I'm not sure...
Guess we'll have to keep waiting for an announcement, 'cause I don't think I've ever heard anything about it
I can’t wait for your GT coverage. I don’t mind GT and would like to know more about it and hear your thoughts.
Just need the big red circles and the thumbnail would be perfect
Hey, Fusion (big fan) will you be dissecting GT at some point?
Classic Zeon.
I love your Sailor Moon shirt and I can see the Sailor Moon videos on your shelf. I'm excited for Dragonball GT dissection. As much as the fandom dunks on it, GT is a major part of Dragonballs identity. When I was a kid and saw scans of GT online it made Dragonball look so expansive, like there was so much to look forward too!
MistareFusion is covering Dragon Ball GT?!
This must be trolling at this point
First I've heard of it.
Mistarefusion is covering Dragon Ball GT?????
GUYS HES BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT FOR MONTHS
IDK...
But I think that probably, maybe, he's going to cover GT... But still, it's a theory
I'm hyped to see you do gt. Ive been hoping you would back since you started this journey all those years ago. Now it's happening. Hype as fuck
i just wish lance would consider doing dragon ball gt
Looking at your video cabinet...seriously, there are awesome movies between "101 Dalmatians" and "The Little Mermaid" in the canon, but...then again that's personal preference.
Interestingly enough, they actually address Buu's eyes turning from white to red in the continuity for the Kai version. Instead of it changing off-screen, they actually produce a subtle gradient transition effect of his eyes on-screen. Just thought it was funny that they acknowledge it, just still don't explain why it did that. X3
I know you're doing DBDTV for GT and I'm subscribing for that reason
Super would be intriguing to tackle since it seems like a lot of the grief you took with Cell and Buu could be applied to it.
Fun fact, in Dragon Ball Kai, Boo’s eyes shift from white to red during that scene, sort of fading, if I remember it right.
Fun fact on top of that! As others have pointed out, what happens in Kai depends on which version you are watching. What you're describing is how it was altered for the international version. But in the Japanese cut, Boo simply has red eyes from the beginning, and they never change. They digitally painted over all white eye instances.
@@MistareFusion that’s also true! I didn’t remember which version of Kai did which, so I didn’t specify in my comment. I’m also like 5 days late to the vid, and only commented this because I didn’t see anything mentioning Kai at a quick glance.
It would be nice of you to break your silence and FINALLY confirm either you're or you're not dissecting Dragon Ball GT after this. I've been waiting for a confirmation during the whole video!
Regarding those repeatable filler spots, they are way better as filler than Narutos repeatable lets make up whole story arcs that take months or years to conclude only to be followed by another filler arc.
Not only do I know, I'm excited
The only RUclips series I actually wait for!
I viewed the color change in Super Buu's eyes as something like how much influence the Good Buu had over him.
White eyes? Good Buu can somewhat fight against Evil Buu from within the body of Super Buu, thus allowing Videl to be spared and for Buu to briefly listen to her request.
Red eyes? It's Candy Beam time!
15:46 I have to disagree. While it would’ve ultimately resulted in Gohan losing, I feel like it was the best battle we’d had in a while.
I really can't believe, they cut back to the Tournament stuff and Toriyama spent a few chapters on all that, than the Gohan fight in the manga, which was more important. That all, honestly felt like filler and the manga never usually has stuff like that. Thank God for the anime.
Your physical mannerisms in this episode reminds me a lot of James Rolf in the most delightful of ways.
That's funny! I was thinking the same thing when I had to edit it, particularly when I referred to the prize as a hardcore action figure or whatnot.
I will never understand why the multiverse l tournament arc literally set up the perfect cut away filler with goten trunks and marron filling in for 17 l only to never use it
I'm pretty sure even the manga did
It would've ultimately dragged out the arc even more. Sure, the fighting could get tiresome, but at least the audience could comfortably say some progress was consistently being made and it was steadily approaching the end, instead of wasting time.
@@olserknam It only would've done that if you assume every single thing that HAPPENED in the arc had to be shown. There's a LOT of shit in that arc that you could cut out and replace with Goten and Trunks filler without losing anything too important (or well executed.)
@@olserknam 70% of the fights felt like needless filler, tho, the real fight was against Dyspo, Toppo and Jiren, everything else didin't matter.
@@prometheusmodelow8322 Maybe, but at least that gave the secondary characters some time to shine and a few memorable moments. Plus I'd rather watch Piccolo beat a random alien who at least has creative design and powers than watch Goten and Trunks beat a bunch of boring ol' poachers.
Am I the only one who didn’t forget?
Guys, he’s going to cover GT, he confirmed that awhile ago in Majin Boo Arc part 28.
He mentioned it long before that.
@@spartanq7781 And now even I forgot…lol
Thanks, Veteran.
Will there be a ranking for the Dragon Ball GT arcs like there were for the manga?
I really don't know. It honestly seems a bit pointless given how there are only three real storylines in GT.
@MistareFusion You could rank them together with the Dragon Ball arcs. Just insert them into this already completed ranking.
Sooo anyone else hype for the GT analysis/review? Can't wait for SS4 myself....
My favorite Chi-Chi and Bulma interaction was when they offered to swap husbands. ;)
My friend from Japan told me that GT stands for "Gomennasai(sorry) Toriyama"
Guys I don’t think mistarefusion will be covering dragon ball gt
I can't whatch these in the summer but here's a comment to appease to the algorythm because i know it's going to be a good vid, anyway
Thanks for the work
I greatly appreciate that. Thanks for the support. I am curious now, though. Why can't you watch them in the summer? And if not, how are you here commenting?
@@MistareFusion I don't have the time due to family visiting me and being the busier part of the year for me at work, haha . It's not about lack of resources or anything
I've been following you for 6 or 7 years now and I think it's rare the day I can watch the vid the day of release if it's ever happened at all but I always try to leave a preemptive like and comment because you have already earned it
Seriously, I'm generally a cynical asshole for these things but you're allowing to live my Fandom in a much healthier way than I would otherwise.
Best wishes from Spain.
The buu arc and the spider clone arc seems like coming from the same class in college
I understand that Mistare fusion will be covering Dragon Ball GT in the next RUclips series.
When Goku goes SSJ3 for the first time in the anime and there's that scene of the Oozaru reverting to baby Goku there's a frame in which he looks a lot like what would come to be SSJ4.
That, I'm guessing the SSJ4 design was inspired by that part.
I wish MistareFusion was also doing GT. Would be really dope
Mr. Satan learning to fly reminds me of Steven Seagal in Madtv.
Ever since super happened I wanted Super Saiyan 4 to come back as Super Saiyan God.
Seeing how the new Broly Movie made "Ikari no Jōtai" a thing (you know, the "using the Oozarus power without transforming"), I hope SS4 will come back as a unique transformation for Broly. Maybe calling it something like "Kanzen Ikari" (Perfect Wrath).
I wonder if he'll cover Dragon Ball GT?
Your trolling right
The whole Buu eyes thing was just a lucky break. The international Kai version continues it by actually showing Buu's eyes change color. The Japanese cut of the Kai Buu arc has Buu's eyes red right from the get-go, though Pure Evil Buu's irises are still white in both cuts.
As for that SS4 figure art, I’m glad great minds think alike. I bought a Coola/Cooler figure from them a while ago. Took months for it to come (ordered in May of 2020, didn’t arrive until March of 2021). Don’t think I’d get any more though. $50-60.00 is just too much.
Ohhhh let’s go new dbd tv episode
The GT Dissection will be fun. Most things being said about GT, even the so called "analysis" are very superficial. Let alone all the haters who just jump into the GT hate bandwagon because it is cool to say that GT sucks apparently.
So the Mistare dissection of it will be great.
It's cool to say anything sucks...that's how things being called overrated works.
It's also cool to be a contrarian and find cherry-picked "positives" in things that are primarily seen as bad and call it Good.
@@SonicmaniaVideos That last one is the perfect description for Super too. Both are bad sequels, but enjoyable.
Also, contrarian? That's a good one. So because I actually enjoy something that most people find bad I'm just being a contrarian. Hardly, I watched GT way before the internet poison was a thing and I liked it. So did everyone I knew back in the day. Unlike others who never watched GT because of the preconception that it's bad, then they just follow the trend of bashing it for...what others are saying. Believe me, I know a few. I don't know if what you wrote was directed at me or in general. Either way, there are legit reasons to call GT underrated for mostly nitpicking shit. But to call the few who actually enjoy it "contrarians"? That's egotistical to say the least.
GT does suck, just as much as super. No matter how much headcanon you will use to justify it
@@lordraiden7397 When you put it like that, there's no point in justifying anything because you don't care. So why even bother?
Another great video! Can't wait to see how One Piece Dissection starts!
Yeah, Kid Goku wasn't paying for the meals, Muten Roshi was.
There was that time he won a tournament (as Jackie Chun) and spent all the price money in one of those "meals"
You're conflating two separate events. The Muten Roshi paid for everyone's meals at a private restaurant after the tournament. He had nothing to do with what Goku ate at the tournament. He wouldn't have had that money then anyway because he hadn't won it yet.
