Cheryl Waters is such a pro. As someone else here has said, " love her voice" and I would add that I also love her natural being. This band is unfamiliar to me, and I am liking them. As always, KEXP is a great resource for music: can't thank them enough.
Saw these guys live one month ago (Oct 2019) here in the UK at Norwich Arts Centre. Really good live...was a great gig. Also met the lead guitarist after the gig and had a chat....very cool :)
I've just discovered this band, and of course they're connected to KEXP and wonderful Cheryl Waters. First King Gizzard, now Black Mountain- thank You Cheryl for bringing those stunning bands into KEXP Studio, and thank you KEXP-team for the amazing job you're all doing!
Gotta agree with KEXP. Very rare to hear a band reform around their 4th album and make something that powerful. Black Mountain doesn't have a weak album. No sophomore slump. Solid great band.
zoeiieoz Watched Beyond the black rainbow in 2012..had to find out who was behind that soundtrack..led me to Jeremy Schmidt who led me to Black Mountain. Saw them in Vancouver 2015, and Boston 2016. Great band but I miss Amber’s presence, vocals. Cool videos too.
The new Songs sound a tiny bit better live than on record, but songwriting wise they are incomparable with the songs on the previous albums. I've seen BM a few times with their old line-up and they were just magic, pure gold every time. When this record came out I was disappointed, so am I with the new lineup... Unfortunately.
She isn't imitating no one. She used to be the charismatic front woman of Sleepy Sun, but left the band with great diapppointment. Check out the live versions of Sandstorm woman.
Lots of folks noting the difference w/o Amber. She was great and I love her voice on most of their songs. That said I'm not the only one who was turned off at times when she was heavy handed and pushed too hard with that falsetto and distracted from a few songs. Just saying, sometimes you gotta embrace the future and give someone else a chance to show what they can bring to the table. Curious to see where things go with these guys, one of my favorite bands hands down
How does a team that has such stunning audio engineers not hear that they're injecting the nails on the chalkboard voice of Cheryl Waters into almost ALL of their videos, rendering them unwatchable. I would PAY you for a Cheryl free version of this, Desert Mountain Tribe, All Them WItches, you NAME IT! she kills them ALL!
80s guitarist I know those rhythm guitar parts anywhere Black Mountain huh..??mom the 80s must be back cause I just woke up from my coma,I been out since grunge took over🤣🤣🤣🤣

the have another full on kexp, it's beyond anything
Thats the first thing i thought was damn this is what actual cool white people in seattle are like this lady is fuckin awesome
@@shustyrackleford_710 Seattle is a cess pool
@@drewbocop cool, we see the same side of the moon each time we see its illuminated face.
Now weve both stated 2 random things for each other!
@@shustyrackleford_710 Nothing random about it. The people in Seattle are not all like Cheryl Waters, I assure you.
This is my new favorite band for tonight....KEXP has turned me on to a lot of bands that I would never have known of. Thank you.
New members are FANTASTIC
Very talented group, great haunting sound, with outstanding drummer.
Damn, her vocal performance is amazing!
this band is so cool...reminds me of so many great bands from the past...yet they hold their own in almost everyway x
PHENOMENAL band. Great performance. Major props to the sound engineers on this one.
Thanks KEXP for turning me on to these cats a couple of years ago.

Great band. Very cool sound. The guitar tone is amazing.
I miss Amber too, but the new members are great too ! (Fantastic drummer, and very good voice)
thank you for the love!
Licensed To Drive OMG what a BANGER
Seeing Black Mountain tonight in NYC! KEXP always with the sick timing. 🤘
saw them in PHILLY Awesome stuff

I love Cheryl's voice! Good music, by the way! :)
Jeremy Schmidt is by far the best sound maker out there right now....Beyond The Black Rainbow, Sinoia Caves....so good.

Cool videos too.
Saw them in Louisville November 22. The show was fantastic !!!!! Also Rachel sounded great live not lost in the mix like on Destroyer album
Very good!!!!
I miss Amber. No disrespect for the new singer though.
I love this band and have been listening to them since the beginning, but...it's just not the same without Amber.
Or Josh for that matter
@@groundhog713 Why did they leave?
Love these guys!
The driving questioning in this 1 is Epic.
Dude made me a breakfast bagel sandwich once! It was tasty.
imagine the 80s didn't miss that wonderful ease. ❤ thx
Never ever gonna top ‘Space to Bakersfield’.
Future Shade is really really good. Not sure which wins that fight!
oh yeah baby
@@JohnD72277 future shade is really really good but Space to Bakersfield is still way better. There was never a fight to be had.
Es una mezcla de Iron Maiden con stoner rock, con música indie. Es como si los tipos tocasen heavy pero no supieran que están tocando heavy
Nice Sound! Thanks!
Without Amber is like Airplane without Grace...
Rachel is great!
thank you friend
Their practice space is permeated with the smell of weed.
I really miss Amber and Josh, but this is still fuckin groovy🎸🤘🏻
Still the best band
Raise hell praise Dale! #3 Eliminator for life 3️⃣🚗
This version of Future Shade is so much better than the original
great band
Canada's finest!
this is just epic and there´s no cooler frontman than Stephen
Hell yeah!!
esa guitarra me mantiene pegado al techo!

Me too. Where is Amber? This formation is horrible. There is a gulf between IV's Kexp performance in 2016 and this show.
Destroyer is so Underrated
Nailed it

Comment number 100. I’ve been to Bakersfield nobody been to space.
I love Rachel’s voice
Does anyone know what that keyboard is at 0:53? Thanks!
It's an old Moog Source from the '80's.
East Van represent
The girl is a talented backup singer
Her name is Rachel Fannan, she also does drums for Pussy Riot
But she's not Amber. (Amber Webber, one of the founding members of the band, who left after their last album).
check out their song called "Queens Will Play". She's talented not only as a backup singer :D
@@maciejchochol Wrong girl. Amber left the band. Check out Rigamaroo by Sleepy Sun instead. Rachels vocals on that are awesome.

Shit!! Been waiting for this to drop!!!

Супер! Просто отлично!
Father John Misty on keyboards?
What are the lights you all have on set?
nice
rachel poppin off!
It's not the same, the girl imitates Amber, the songs...mmm, basic rock, miss you Amber..., disappointing, sorry
10/10
I am sorry to say but the only one that stands out is the drummer in this new line up.
Love them but definitely miss Amber Webber's voice.

I like this band but that one was kinda sucky so I put a thumbs down
no Amber, no black mountain
Incorrect, sir.
Open your mind and even your ears !
I got into em because of Rachel, she kicks ass.
stonyest band goin
