      I'm always surprised when someone orders something I have never heard of. Even more surprised that people are either all junk, all organic or all healthy across the board. Rarely do I see a mix of bad and healthy...cause we'll I buy mix of bad and healthy for my own household. Mostly healthy, but sometimes ua just need that ice cream or those chips, but I don't buy organic except bananas cause they are never all green. Lol. But I do instacart and spark and have DD but have yet to try it.

    Hallelujah thank you sister for showing the breakdown. That is what I am saying by not making minimum wage. Other channels never do a breakdown to show how it really pays. Then you have to put some money of that final number back for repairs and maintenance that come up on the car. It doesn't matter if you are platinum, silver, or gold. They still send the same shitty offers. It all depends on what market you are in as well. As for the dash now I could drive to a part of the city and it would go from schedule to dash now. I know your pain of going home eating some comfort food and crying. I have done that on many occasions. It has been hard since my husband passed away, now I have to make ends meet on my own. Doing Doordash adds to the stress.

    I probably overtip but I appreciate the service. I always think I wouldn’t want to do that job. My cleaning lady was here the other day when groceries came. After they left my cleaning lady asked if I tip the driver. I told her I just add it to my order and she said she hoped the driver gets it. Gosh, I hope they do too! Actually should tip in cash so they don’t have to claim it!

    • @kamarygold

      Thank you for being considerate. As a dasher I wonder if DD holds back on some of the tip bcz it seems like too many people are tipping extremely low.
      The best thing to do is give a tip based on mileage on the app, like $1 per mile, and then give the driver more in cash upon delivery if you feel inclined to do so. And keep in mind we have to drive back to the area where the restaurants are so that's added mileage on our cars. In a perfect world if I drove 3 miles to your house and got a $3 tip on the app and a $3 tip in cash, I'd be sooo happy.

    Loved the honesty in your outro! Doordash's systems for pushing acceptance rate are just not right. Any time I try to take all of the trash orders to raise my AR, I end up feeling terrible about my entire day. The no- and low-tippers just make me feel so bad. I just keep multi-apping and take what I want.

    I had an order for $5 pizza place they ordered 5 pizzas and two large bottles of soda. The app should make them tip better if they order that much! Made me mad that they were doctors and nurses. Had to walk a long time around the hospital with all that stuff. I would have never taken the order if I knew it was that much stuff for that little pay. Then I have a guy that barely ordered anything and he gave me an extra $10 tip because he didn’t realize how far away he order but he also tipped pretty well in the app too. Those people restore my faith in humanity. If they are bad tippers and you can see they are not very rich I don’t care but the non tippers that are rich make me mad.

    I refuse to take crap offers, period. This whole tier system is just another gimmick to get those lowball orders delivered. Anytime I’ve ever made any kind of effort towards raising my AR, my ratings take a beating, and/or the customer reports their food not having been delivered. These offers that are $5 or less going more than a couple of miles are likely either going to a bad neighborhood, you will be dealing with crazy/mean people, or what I mentioned above with ratings. I feel like we also might be risking deactivation by taking these kinds of orders.

    I'm trying to save for this Prius I just found for sale nearby because I'm sick of seeing my tank diminish so quickly every time I dash. Also my AC is going out so dashing during the day is nearly impossible in this heat. I've been averaging about $25 a night and I dash about 2.5 hours. I've had to accept some insanely low offers for a long ass drive just to get the decent higher paying ones which I realize are mostly from the customer tipping high and not even the app itself. This is all very new to me and I relate hard already. I missed one order in all of the one week I've been dashing so I've been stuck on 92% acceptance rate. I've been given the option to earn by hour for 18.25/hr but it's always after I've already been dashing a few hours and am tired and ready to stop wasting my gas lmao and it's always locked when I sign back in. Also the scheduling option is so wishy washy.

    Greetings! I just watched your video, Taking every order, and haven’t watched any of your other videos. I’m in a pretty low activity area not near any major cities. I started with Door Dash in May but have been taking every single order they send me, except for technical problems which have prevented 4 or 5 orders. Early on I worked out a basic spreadsheet that deducts the cost of gas based on the miles driven that day. I come out with an average hourly rate similar to what you showed in this video, pretty low. Rightly or wrongly I still take every order that comes my way, mainly because of the low volume in my area. By the way, this isn’t meant as a criticism, but the title of your channel and the serious face you have in your thumbnails doesn’t convey your great sense of humor and the good information you provide in your videos.

    67¢ probably isn't reflective of our actual costs, as it's an average that includes things like typical insurance, registration, and other things that aren't attached to mileage or don't apply to our type of work. For example, for me gas works out to about 17¢ per mile, so that would mean car maintenance would be 50¢ per mile. If my car is at 175,000 odometer does that mean I've spent $88,000 in car maintenance over the years? No way

  • @milan1969

    If your actual cost of operating your vehicle are anywhere near the IRS numbers, you’re using the wrong vehicle. The IRS number includes gas, maintenance (including oil changes, tires, battery, brakes, etc.), and depreciation. I have a hybrid car that gets roughly 50mpg, so gas plus maintenance is less than 12-cents a mile. Close to 10-cents a mile. If your actual costs (not including depreciation) are more than 30-cents a mile, that’s a problem.
    So everything you make between your actual costs, and what the IRS allows for a deduction not only is profit. It’s tax-free profit.
    As for the tier status, when you’re Silver, Gold or Platinum, you get more high paying offers. I’m not saying you don’t also get some crap. But I am saying you get more high paying orders, and less crap. The reason you get crap is you get first priority when things are slow. The more off-hours you work, the more crap you’ll get, but if you only work the busy times, you’ll see less crap.
    So if you’re not even up to Silver, you’re going to get crap when it’s busy, and maybe nothing when it’s not busy. What that means is it takes more effort to build yourself up to a priority tier than it takes to maintain it once you get there.
    Dashers, as independent contractors, are essentially vendors looking for business from DoorDash, which is the real customer here. Now maybe it’s the Boomer work-ethic in me, or maybe it’s the 15 years I spent as the owner of my own business, but what I learned is that if you don’t give the customer what they want, they’ll go somewhere else. So while you want to do what’s best for you, looking at each transaction alone, and not considering the big picture, long-term is not going to be a good strategy - especially if you have only one customer.
    If you’re not going to do what DoorDash wants, then you’d better have a lot of other customers, too. You need to multi-app. But as soon as the other customers of yours follows DoorDash’s lead, even multi-apping won’t work. You need to consider other gigs, like rideshare, catering, mystery shopping, and household tasking. You cannot let any one customer become the source of most of your income.
    On the other hand, if you can do what that one customer needs you to do, you can find yourself rewarded, which is what the tier program attempts to do.
    Like I said, it’s easier to maintain a tier level, than it is to obtain a higher level. It could take you two months to work up to gold or platinum level, and that’s while forsaking other opportunities, and taking all the crap they throw at you. The other option is to call DoorDash support, and get them to reset your account. But if you do that, you need to be prepared to do what you can to maintain your new status.
    So it’s not that no one can make a living as a platinum Dasher. New Dashers who kiss the ring will find success that you don’t even know exists. But working your way up to tha if you’ve reached the bottom is nearly impossible.
    Essentially, unless you get DoorDash to reset your account, and then work to keep it in the Platinum tier, you’re going to have to start thinking about DoorDash being just a “filler” app, and put your energy into other apps.

    I haven’t done the math- but if you are going to accept every order it seems like pay by hour might be a better option… not sure though. I don’t do that because I don’t want to accept orders that are 30 miles away for $5

    I understand your frustration, I’ve been there. I worked hard for a month taking all the crap orders to get to platinum status and it paid off. I can dad’s now all the time and the offers are so much better. Unfortunately you have to take some bad to get the good. Remember all those miles are a tax deduction.

    I don't get people who don't tip or tip very little. I get in today's world that money can be tight. But... you are doing them a service which they can't do or chose not to do and have it delivered. No matter the reason, they can at least give you a good tip. I always do when I order for a delivery. Doordashers, Uber, here in canada, skip the dishes driver all use their own car, they are doing us a service. Tip these delivery drivers people. And be appreciative what they are doing for you. That would drive me nuts too.

    I am a little cornfused on why you subtract your car allowance from your pay. This is money you don't have to pay in taxes. If you extend this out to 140,000 miles it comes out to $93,800. It should pay for your car many times over. BUT The big story for me is Dollar General has fresh produce. I will have to tell my daughter. She is the manager at a Dollar General in West Tennessee.

    • @Teefunnny
      @Teefunnny 2 месяца назад +1

      She subtracts it from her pay because the government is saying it is her EXPENSE for driving those miles. It is not subtracted from her taxes. It is subtracted from her gross income, which leads to lower taxable income and, therefore, fewer taxes, but it is not a 1:1 reduction of taxes payable.

    ….I ask myself “WWMMD?” (What would Meaty Mama do?”)
    Curious about your thoughts and followers…because I know you are a good person!
    I delivered a breakfast plate to someone (leave at door). The big fluffy biscuits fell out of the styrofoam box. I panicked and put them back in the box and went to leave a note to customer in the app- but I think I had completed delivery- so couldn’t text them. Went to car to find a pen and leave a note explaining that the biscuits had dropped and they can take it out of my tip… pen out of ink. I waited a few for them to get order… so when they didn’t I went to door until Ring camera started recording and apologized and explained what happened…again offered for them to take it out of tip.
    They never lowered tip and didn’t leave a bad review.
    We are human- and though we try to do a great job- accidents happen.
    What would you have done?

    I think the most profitable "be my own boss" type work that I ever did, was in the 80s/90s when I did home daycare. There was a USDA food program just like the schools had. The govt gave me reimbursements each month for feeding kids per meal/snacks. I got free "government commodities govt cheese, butter, dry milk etc. Anytime I did anything to my home, part of it was tax deductible from Roof replacenent to flooring. I even took housekeeping off on expenses. I love children so didn't mind spending my day playing with littles. I've said this before, I'll say it again. Bless your heart for doing this nearly thankless, and exhausing work.

      @@B_Bodziak the mileage rate is a deduction from your earnings, so you pay less taxes, basically more in your pocket

  • @michellekollar9449
    @michellekollar9449 2 месяца назад

    It doesn't cost you the .67 cents a mile. The .67 cents per mile is the deduction the government gives you on your profits. The order only costs you "out of pocket" the amount of money you spent on gas to complete the order. The .67 cents is what the government "averages" your expenses to be. And then out of your profit, you only pay your calculated tax rate after mileage and other deductions. You are paying most likely 10-20% tax on what you're calling your profit here.

  • @Snerdles
    @Snerdles 2 месяца назад

    You're using the standard commercial deduction rate to calculate distance costs, but those rates are based on average commercial vehicles... Anything that is good for dashing is going to cost far less than that to run. Probably more in the range of 35 to 40 cents a mile. I use 27 canadian cents per km for my vehicle (It's a PHEV so the first 50km/30 miles only cost about $1.50 every day).
    Obviously this mostly depends on depreciation, which is much higher if you buy new vehicles, since maintenance and propulsion on small efficient dasher vehicles is going to be decently consistent.

    • @Snerdles
      @Snerdles 2 месяца назад

      Also, seeing your 8.59 an hour after expenses puts me at ease since my yearly average for this year is 8.69 an hour after expenses and on total dash time (not active) and my area has tons of time sitting in parking lots.
      I often see people claiming 25-30 bucks an hour but most people seem to calculate stuff like that on active time and before expenses which paints a very false image of how much money you actually make.

    Very interesting video! As a shopper of 7 years I’m enjoying watching someone else shop. And to hear the frustrations I feel but keep in my head. 😆 Just watched the out-tro… yes it’s so important which orders you take. I used to just drive around and shop all over, not paying attention to my mileage. Now I stick much closer to home and pay close attention to what neighborhoods I’m delivering to. It is so much more profitable now!

    I quit Doordashing bc in my area I can't even get on the schedule since they took away the dash now option and I was a so called top dasher. The reason I quit thou is bc I cant get on the schedule and I know what the peak hours are bc of dashing for 3 years in the same area. Kind of sucks bc the people getting all the dashing have no drivers license and are not here legally, meaning they cant get jobs easy without a SS card.

There's no dash now for all tiers, and you have to schedule every day at 3am. So ya, this is coming to all markets, I'm saying about a yr. So it's only gonna get worst.
