I watched everything, everywhere, all at once for the first time in a movie theater after taking mushrooms. all i can say is it was absolutely life-changing.
So glad you mentioned The lost daughter, definitely one of the best movies of 2022! Everything everywhere all at once is in my TOP 5 for sure, brilliant combination of comedy, action and drama. As a fan of Ruben Östlund, Triangle of Sadness was a treat. Haven't watched other movies you mentioned so I'm adding them to my "to watch" list😊 To my top movies I would add Memoria, Nope and Fast&Feel love Thanks for the video!
My top 3 of the year: 1. Everything Everywhere All At Once 2. After Yang 3. Decision to Leave I loved all three. I imagine I'll return to them a lot over the years. It wasn't a movie, but I also just have to say that I ADORED the Ethan Hawke-directed HBO Max miniseries, The Last Movie Stars. It's my favorite documentary I watched this year, and one of my favorite limited series in quite awhile.
I knowwww I really want to see Decision to Leave! Hoping to go in the next week or so. Also thanks for bringing up The Last Movie Stars! Hadn't heard of it but it really sounds interesting
I never really watch movies, but I’m definitely going to have to watch a few of these ☺️ I also have a few video ideas if you’re interested - favorite artists/art pieces/museums you’ve visited - I know you’ve done similar vids to this but just talking about your jewelry and tapping earrings necklaces etc - intentional hair play and arm tapping in a ramble - similar to that other vid of yours, describing places you’ve been to in your life that were relaxing or particularly memorable
Thank you for these! How did you know I've been looking for more ideas lately? 😅🤗 Adding all of them to my ideas doc. Let me get through this month and then I'l see what I can do! 💜
“The Banshees of Inisherin” is one of the most interesting films of the year. The writing is very unique. And it stays with you. It’s a bit slow-paced but the gradual conflict builds nicely. You briefly mentioned “I’m thinking of Ending Things” from a couple years back. That film is amazing. Also from this year, really liked “Nope”. Good film. Weird, scary and funny!
I haven't seen Nope! That one's my bad. As for The Banshees of Inisherin -- I LOVE Martin McDonagh and have plans to see it with a friend this week. I can't wait!
@@MauveASMR yes!! In Bruges is amazing. It’s so funny but has this sneaky emotional power to it at the end. Have you done a favorite all-time movies video?? 😄🙏🏻🎞
Always a treat to hear your year-end picks! I'm probably finalizing my list today, with Banshees high up there, along with several not mentioned yet, including White Noise (I thought it did a good job of capturing literary postmodernism), Watcher (very Hitchcockian and atmospheric), Glass Onion (better than Knives Out, imo, and timely), and probably a couple under-the-radar whodunits: See How They Run and Confess, Fletch. Excited to check out the Kenny G doc and others you mentioned, and I weirdly have the same reaction to Jessie Buckley. Happy new year!
I almost chuckled when you spoke about The truffle hunters 😂 I know exactly what you mean by "a very particular sort" 😂 Lots of my friends' grandpas are truffle hunters so it brought back memories!
what a great list! i've been wanting to watch Everything, Everywhere for some time now but never got to it, maybe on christmas break. My favorite movies this year are: Freaks Out, All Quiet on the Western Front and Bullet Train. I also enjoyed the dark-comedy Employee of the Month (from Véronique Jadin), it was such a fun watch.
Honestly it'd be a great movie for Christmas break / end of the year! Just looked up Employee of the Month and added it to my list. I love dark comedies so thanks for the rec!
Michelle yeo is actually a chinese name! She was actually specifically chosen for the role of evelyn, so much so that evelyns original name was just michelle. Shes kind of famous in my country bc shes one of the only big hollywood actors to come from here haha
Omg you are so right! I can't believe I messed this up bc I definitely know her from Chinese language movies like CTHD. Thank you for pointing this out!
Omg Hi Mauve!! 🥺 I haven’t been watching your videos for a long time 😭 I miss it sm, I’ve just been so busy 💔 I’m back now, your videos are still as relaxing as ever! Thank you so much 🫶🏻
Hi hi hi welcome back! No worries about taking a break -- these videos are here for whenever you need them, even if that's "not right now"! Hope you're well, sending a hug! 🤗
If you don’t mind, could you share where you got your tiny pearl necklace? I’ve always loved it and I would like to get something similar for the holidays
This is so tingly. Love your whisper videos. Where are most of these movies? I have Netflix, hulu, Amazon prime and paramount but haven’t been able to find most of these.
So glad it's tingly for you! I'm really into the apple mic right now for that very reason. As for the movies, it depends! Usually I just Google where I can stream them / rent them, but sites like Just Watch are also really useful
M! Sorry I've been 🤐 for a long time. Insomnia has struck, so I'm gonna listen to this right now, while I choose some films to take to my nephew when I visit him this xmas.
That's all right! These videos are here for whenever works for you! Hoping you have a lovely and relaxing time with your nephew, lmk what you end up watching 💜
Oh I hadn't really looked into Pearl but I could watch Mia Goth's face for HOURS -- adding to my list! Bodies Bodies Bodies I did see and thought was a lot of fun 💜
I have the same reaction to Dakota Johnson as you do to Jessie Buckley - she looks like someone I had a weird relationship with and I sort of dislike her because of it. I still really enjoyed the Lost Daughter. I watched it while I was feeling anxious on a plane and it transported me somewhere else.
Haha right? I know it's irrational but I can't help it! If she were a person in my life I would try to get to know her as her, and that would solve the problem I think; but as it is, she's an actor and I struggle to uncouple my feelings about it from the characters she's supposed to represent! 😅😂

Oh thanks for sharing! Just added The Velvet Queen to my list!
Mauve is the best thing about Mondays!
