Describe and evaluate interference as an explanation for forgetting- interference is when encoding of information is disturbed as a result of lack of focus or focusing on other information which can be classified as distraction; when two similar piece of information interferes with recalling/ retrieving in the case of proactive and retroactive theory; or when information is learnt in a short time gap in which chances are that one may find it difficult to retrieve the information stored in the brain. Due to these factors, one forgets information temporarily. Cues such as organisation, environment and internal state can aid in recalling information, but, this idea itself suggests that one is not able to remember until cue is presented. why one forgets information is yet be solved but temporary forgetting has some solid answers.
I think you could explain the forgetting a birthday with interference, for a similar reason to how we may forget someone's name or get their details mixed up. They're all in the same category. If you only ever had to memorise one birthday, you might never forget it.
Yup your not wrong well spotted. I did wonder if I should keep the point in when writing the script, but from what I remember there is a similar point that is made in a mark scheme. I tend to stay as close to them as possible with the assumption that if they have credited a point once they will again. I've written it as, hard but not impossible to explain. But if I was exam marking what you just put down I would certainly accept your argument.
@@PsychBoost Yeah, that's fair enough. I just like to think about these points as I go, puts it in the mind later on. I have the spec overview up when watching your videos so I always know which topic is next haha. Not knocking it, that's how I would do it too.
dyu need to know all the studies like tulings study badelley and gooden study and cassaday study for cue dependent forgetting or is it ok to learn only one
if you have “I’m cooked” mindset while studying, nothing will go in😭 genuinely just believe and you can at least pass. even if you jam on this paper you have two more to make up for it🫶🏽

Literally too many studies in this topic, how am I supposed to remember over 20 studies for just ONE topic I’m pulling my hair out
Likewise. I guess you could say that the similarities between them leads to interference.
You shouldn’t be doing a levels then 😂

i feel number 2 should be proactive and not retroactive as the gamer cant remember new information. otherwise very helpful content
For context and state dep forgetting, is knowing one study for each sufficient?
Thanks a lot!
