This is without question the most thorough and hands-on microphone review I have ever seen... You covered everything that the consumer would worry about... Thank you so very much for posting!
This I think is the best review on the mic I’ve seen on RUclips. I like how straight forward it is and the context your give for each situation. Also sick setup in the studio. I’m definitely getting this mic!
Thank you i have been on the fance about getting this microphone...I use a lavalier connected to an alternate phone currently, the sound is great but this set up can get very bulky on beach videos lol
You absolutely just sold the heck out of this product Scott. Insanely solid video. You hit all of the important topics anyone searching a budget mic would be looking for, and then you blew it out of the water. Excellent job with this video!
Another spanking good video. Thanks Scott! I have been very interested in a wireless mic for my iPhone 12 Pro. The only thing that seems bothersome is the receivers on just about every style are best for those of you who gamble with a naked phone. I get an Otterbox on every new phone & it doesn’t come off till the bitter end. It appears that one either go with a naked phone or use a Dremel to modify the case for a proper fit of the receiver. I would like to know how many of you are using this Ulanzi, with or without a case or if you have to modify the case around the lightning port to get a good fit. Thanks!
Just bought one! I can't wait to use it with my iPhone. Quick question: after I use it to film a video on my smartphone will the audio from the mic be automatically be synced to my video when I put it in Adobe Premiere Pro to edit? I've heard other people say that with other mics you have to sync the audio for other mics because it records separately from the video on their smartphone
@@scottdaviesyoutube That's great to hear! I'm glad, I didn't want to have to do anything complicated with the audio in post production. Thank you so much for answering my question:)
Outside sounds great. Inside sounds a little muffled to me. Not so much on my laptop, but quite a bit on my home theater system. Still, impressive enough. I wonder if the usb version would work with the GoPro 11 Media Mod and external power to the Ulanzi receiver, powering the rx and the camera.. That would be perfect.
Hi Scott. Thank you for that informative review. I bought this last year to use when I went to Ireland to visit my daughter and tour Italy. However, it went with me but didn't get used. I'm planning another tour in July/Aug '23, and thanks to your video, this wireless microphone is going on tour as well. For me, this will be an excellent complement to the Insta360 Flow that I intend to get for my next trip. I tested this with my iPhone X Pro, which I'm using as my video/photo camera, and it works extremely well. Your video is much appreciated. Cheers
Thanks for the video. But any idea whats the difference between ulanzi j11 and ulanzi j12? Is j12 an updated model or is it just that j12 comes with 2 mics and j11 comes with 1 mic?
sadly after i bought it, it doesnt work at all. as i bring my phone away from the mic the sound will slowly disappear , then i realise it is recording using my phone not by the mic. how do u resolve this or how do u know that my mic is working or not ?
I have a question. My iphome built in mic is likely a bit damaged as there is a strong static noise when I record. If I use an added microphone, then the phone issue does not effect the sound quality, right?
I wanted to love these! I got a pair and tested it. The recording had a super low volume almost unusable. I thought it was a faulty pair so bought a second one and the same thing happened. I tried it with my Pixel 6A and plugged directly to my laptop ... no luck. Are you having to increase the volume in post?
Have you experienced one mic is significantly louder than the other? I’ve tried resets, turning noise reduction and reverb off. Still one mic is louder than the other
LI am watching this video after i ordered my microphone, not from ulanzi but from some third party company selling the same product. Lets see what comes to me, wish me a luck
Thanks, yea I did in was so hopeful but no, it doesn’t work on action camera (even with their audio adapter I tried the GoPro 9 and 10 (with media mod) and the Insta 360 1X2 with their usbc audio adapter as well. Apparently they are making one at the moment that will work
Please be honest, did you use a preset with this audio or it's the raw audio coming from the Ulanzi? and you didn't manage to show us how to turn on the noise cancellation either, you just talked about it like we all have the mic laying on our laps. No wonder I'm the king of unboxers.
i was about to order 1 from boya of a similar price point, but had to try this one first. i use many ulanzi products and they are of high quality, i hope this one isn't an exclusion.
that's a pretty decent price for 2 mics. pity my samsung has a busted usb port, I'd need a bluetooth version unfortunately, actually, the body is a good antenna for things like car alarm triggers. try it, when you're just out of range, put the remote to your chest or neck and press and see it reaches further ;)
@@milesian1 I did! Thanks for your video! It's working great, exceeding my expectations and works on Windows exactly as I'd hoped. I'm planning to use it as a mic for games with a Bluetooth headset to get a good wireless headphones and mic setup without spending tonnes on ugly gamer-aesthetic headsets.
I bought this product which arrived yesterday. I plugged it in to my Iphone 7, checked that the Mic is working by using the supplied earpiece. I made sure the OTG is switched on also. But my video will not record the sounds from the Mic. Why?
If not that maybe they sent a defective one. Send them a message on instagram and they will look after you. But remember it’s Chinese New Year so all businesses are on holiday until 1st February
@@scottdaviesyoutube thanks..but then can you try to connect bluetooth headphones and see if you can monitorize the sound in realtime when you record? :)
Great review! I ordered the USB-C version but is an iPhone user mostly (but also have a MBP with USB-C): Can you try to use the USB-C version with any kind of Lightning adapter (might need a USB-C to USB-A adapter as well in there) to make it work with an iPhone? If that works the USB-C version is the most dynamic one in usage as you can span it from any Lightning device to a USB-C (compatible) device. :)
SUCCESS! I have just got the USB-C unit and I can confirm that it *** WORKS !!! *** with an iPhone (13 Pro Max) using a (3rd party) lightning adapter that has a USB-A port and together with a USB-C (female) - USB-A (male) adapter (think it has to be a OTG version) it works! It is important to turn the ULANZI receiver attached to the USB-C port the right way but that is just trying. So the ULANZI J12 USB-C version works with BOTH Apple & Android devices! 🤩👍
Have no clue, why to use the reverbe mode. That's completely useless. Regarding to windmuffs, you may buy universal pieces suitable to other lav mics, with the bit of luck, it'll fit on it. Great device for such price.
I must say that it sounds muffled when you compared it to the phone mic in the first example. Of course it’s better outside at a difference. I do have one question. Why do wireless mic reviewers always try to walk a ridiculous distance from the camera, comparing it to other brands. It’s such a useless test. Who shoots video when the are so far away they can’t hardly be seen. Come on, give us real world tests. As a person who has worked with wireless mics for over 30 years, I never do a test like that, and I don’t know a performer / user that does.
Yea they say 30-40 I got to 50 and was still clear with no drop outs: I think it will be dependant on your environment, walls people etc plus if you have a load of other wireless signals it may reduce, But the fact I was 40-50 away and was able to turn my back to the receiver and not lose signal was amazing
Hey, yea just watched seemed to cut a bit when you turned around, Maybe the building near me acted as a rebounder for the signal, looks like your out in the country so big open spaces signals do tend to get lost easier great video though and congratulations on 1k subs
