Just to echo what everyone else here has said, I would also really like a part 2 for this. Getting these up to speed makes me feel good about tackling the solos in soothsayer and nottingham lace. If you do decide to do a part two, would you consider breaking down some of his famous licks to use for examples?
Cool, glad you liked it! I did these signature licks of his a few months ago: ruclips.net/video/MqlRRH5QyPA/видео.html From his live Night Train solos (from his Guns N Ross Days) but could do more typical Buckethead licks as a follow up? I'd maybe be more interested in looking at his tapping, kill switch stuff, or more ambient techniques though. I might pop a poll up to see what to cover- will try and remember to pop a new reply here whenever I launch the poll :)
@@JbfMusicGuitar that would actually pretty pretty sweet. Maybe do an in depth breakdown for the insane tapping part in Jordan. I think a cover of his pedals even to achieve that real ambient tone of his and just his note choices when he does play those soulful melodies would be amazing. @@Bleachdemon88 Cool, yeah I might try and identify 5 areas of his playing, or tricks spend a few minutes on each. Absolute outstanding video. One question comes into my mind. All examples are in one position. How would you approach the idea to move across the fretboard? cheers
Cheers, glad you got something out of it! In short, just take it through the scale or across the strings; a bit like that final lick. You could also apply it to a different part of the scale, so with lick 5 you could go: e----------------17-20-17-19-20-19-17--------- b-17-19-20-----------------------------------20-19- ^ Still in E Minor (Aeloian) but starting on a different note. Similarly, you could play it here: e------------7-10-7-8-10-8-7------- b-7-8-10--------------------------10-8 And of course on different string sets and that sort of thing too! Let me know if that makes sense and helps out?

Not 100% sure, I would have tried to get a Buckethead-ish sound that I was still comfortable using. Would have been with the Axe Fx 2 probably a Friedman or Marshal type amp (possible a mesa, if I was trying to tone match a bit more accurately), I'd guess: Bass 4, Mid 8, High 4, with a compressor in front of it to boost the signal. EQ selfing off the low end around 200Hz, maybe. Mid boost maybe around 800Hz? Somewhere between 600-1400Hz anyway. Probably a few dB cut around 400 -500 and at 4k. Sounds like I'm on the neck pick up as well. Hope that gives you a starting point!

Tucked away behind the other fingers where it belongs, only coming out for special occasions, lol! Nah, I spent a number of years playing with my little finger, but ultimately decided in a lot of cases it just slows me down. Hesitated about doing that for ages, but never seemed to slow down Andy James of Guthrie Govan, so figured it's probably alright! Are you more of a 4th finger player??

I think this popped up a few times in the comments; spent years working on my pinky, it really wasn't worth the time & effort put in! When I realised Guthrie Govan and Andy James barely use theirs, I figured I'd rely more on my 3rd finger, one of the best choices I made as a player! If your little finger is as mobile as Buckethead's, then more power to you! 🤘
Tell me about it!! I spent years trying to get my pinky to fall in line, but he's one stubborn little guy- rebel without a cause, if ever there was one, lol. I gave up on using it for licks like this a few years back, really sped up my progress. I noticed that Guthrie Govan and Andy James barely used theirs and though; well if it's good enough for them... I reckon because guys like Buckethead and Paul Gilbert have long fingers it makes sense to use their 4th finger, mine just slows me down!
@@JbfMusicGuitar You play with 45° angle. Buckethead keeps his Hand 90° to the fretboard. Also your posture is not so good for practise.
