- Frieren Beyond Journey's End Episode 14 is a magical and beautiful experience. If this wasn't a flashback, I believe people would have dropped the series cause of Frieren's indifference to Himmel.

I think that Frieren is on a journey to discover that she actually did know Himmel way more than she ever realized.

Tbh, Himmel is at fault here. He knew quite well how Elfs sense of time is. He should have made the first step. Not because he's "a man", but because she's an elf.

This is the main thing in Frieren. To realise what was lost only after everything's over, because of the view of "time" 😭
the sad part is she wasnt in love with him at the time.
she slowly but certainly realizes what Himmel actually meant to her and how he was deeply, madly in love with her... and she is coming to fall for him as we progress 79 years after their adventure, 29 years after his death... which makes it way way way more heartbreaking.
I think you are right, cause (spoiler ahead for the latest manga chapter);
As Frieren was trying to go back to the present after she was sent back in time by the Goddess momunent, her and Himmel are trapped in an illusion that can show victims a happy dream. In this dream both Himmel and Frieren are getting married, with Frieren actually going along with it until Himmel asks her for a way to escape the illusion.
I think she was in love with him but she didn't understand her own feelings until it was too late.
The way she reacted in the funeral, how she is constantly thinking about him all the time, the flowers chapter...she definitely had deep feelings for him that she did not have for Heiter and Eisen.

It's even more sad, when you realize that Himmel never got married, even though he 100% would have been a #1 bachelor in the world. And even though he knew it was hopeless, he couldn't bring himself to love anyone else.
I don't care if people get mad over this, this anime was full of surprises ever since it launch to streaming services, and I'm happy to be a fan of this series.

@@n337tbh for the wedding bell isn't that obvious i need 3 time to rewatch it to understand it. Different culture i guess but for the proposal ,message, and expression is on point

the episode is so good it made me cry even in the moments that are not even sad in a conventional sense, loved it.

Himmel was fine with his feeling not ever reaching Frieren. He knew flower language and knew that Frieren didn't know the meaning of the flower of the ring. When he saw the opportunity to put the ring on, he put it on as if proposing since he knew he would never get the opportunity to do it for real. The ost, bells ring in the background and animation was all amazing and made the scene to be as impactful as possible.

He actually knew in this scene that his feelings reached the future Frieren.
This is 1 of the very few times I got genuinely touched by an episode.
I don't mean it lightly - This is 1 of the best episodes I've seen in any show.
Amazing episode as usual, absolutely beautiful (both emotionally and visually)
an episode like this really shows the strength of frieren
that frieren's strengths dont lie in its worldbuilding or action, it lies in its likeable and compelling characters
also the music. the music was insane this episode

The ring scene gave me goosebumps asf especially the ost so freaking beautiful
Fern isn't a tsundere, she's just upset Stark forgot her birthday and didn't buy her anything when she did for him. Which she realized later was overboard andnshe apologized for it. Tsundere know their feelings and denies it by acting harsh to the person they love Fern doesn't even understand or even realized her feeling for Stark, in sense she's like Frieren and Stark in a way.
When she said "I lose things all the time" it felt like a deliberately loaded statement and she meant more than inanimate objects 😭
This episode pretty much released just after the latest chapter makes it hit so much harder in the feels.
Himmel really confesses his love to Frieren before he passed but she hadn't realized it
When Frieren reaches the land where she can talk to the souls of the dead, she'll either be an emotional wreck or the strongest character in the series, emotionally speaking.
Frieren sliding down the roof was adorable and the thing I didnt know I needed until I had it.
After this episode I can tell that Frieren is not officially my personal anime of the year.
For a long time it was an internal battle between Oshi no Ko and Fireren in my head but this unspoken confession made by Himmel just won me over
"I'm used to losing things." That hit me hard, as I'm used to it, too, in my short 65 years.
No drop for frieren no matter what
This episode was one of the best so far. The characters got a chance to develop and we got a chance to understand them even better, including Sein who just joined and now he seems to fill the spot of the older and more experienced character that will guide the others.
If we had more Sein screentime...

If people seriously did how the title says, they're missing out on this series and how it portrays why. Gosh, I love this series so much and thankfully not dropping this as an anime-only
I like how all their names are telling names, because every single name is a German word
Frieren - feeling cold
Himmel - Heaven
Heiter - lighthearted happiness
Stark - Strong
Fern - far away
Eisen - Iron
and it extends into the places they visit too, every single name is a reference to it's place in the wordl and/or story

I don’t know about a prequel but a what if series would be insane, would love to receive one.
I think the best thing about this episode is definitely the complication of relationships fern and Stark barely interacted with people around their age so they don’t really talk to people very often. I just really love how it just goes to show that people need to talk to each other more to understand another person’s feelings. Again this entire episode is based on complicated people needing to communicate better.
I cried like a little baby when he put the ring on.

this made me shed some tears thinking if I could fall in love once more in my life, I don't get why anyone would hate this, it was brilliantly executed.

Frieren is such a beautiful show and knowing just how devoted Frieren and Himmel was to each other made me realize that Love transends through time and the whole notion of them not being able to stay together just kills me. They were such a perfect pair and I firmly believe Frieren who lost her one and only true love is now playing cupid alongside Sein to bring Fern and Stark closer than ever before and the seeds of love already has been planted and who knows Fern and Stark may actually become a devoted couple who loves each other and has children one day. Knowing this outcome it will be so nice to see but as for Frieren's elven DNA being a huge point of contention means she can never have children of her own which is just so sad. But never the less Fern has inherited both Frieren's legacy but also Flamme's legacy as well so Fern can pass down their legacies onto her potential children which is food for thought of a what if scenario.
I love the anime adaptation man..... Like in the manga i just read it like "aw she lost the ring himel gave her that's sad" and the anime just elevated that
Freiren met Serie last a Thousand years ago, and met her master 1050 years ago as the last survivor of her Village...no indication how old she was before that or why she was the last one standing against the Demon other then muttering she couldnt protect anyone while bleeding out on the brink of death when her to be master found her

I think the problem with Frieren is that she's never matured emotionally. Maybe because of her fight with the demon. She just stopped living at some point and locked herself into the mindset of a warrior. Himmel's death and the efforts of her party members have put her on the path of personal growth.
I've been out of watching anime for a couple of years now, but this is one anime I can't wait until Friday hits so that I can sit down and watch pure art in all forms. Amazing music, writing, art and animation, all in perfect harmony to craft a masterwork.

Omg I haven’t watched it yet , also please finish apothecary diaries , it launched just like this anime dropping 4 first day . Has a 5 start rating cuz it’s truly amazing.
Frieren never thought that way because she knew it was her that randomly picked the ring and for sure she did not pick it based on any meaning. She just felt a little strange that Himmel would present the ring in such a serious way. After all, Himmel did the strange gesture but did not really propose to her. But now, 80 years afterwards, AFTER Fern told her, she put the two and two together, remembered the expression on Himmel's face, and realized what Himmel had in mind.
Too bad the presentation should have been more impactful - they should have perhaps inform the audience of the randomness of her picking earlier and separate from when Himmel received and inspected the ring. When the audience realized the meaning of the mirrored lotus, everyone was guessing that Himmel must have purchased this ring to profess his love (which was actually not the case, but still it got the audience ready in that direction) - it constituted an unintentional spoiler of the final scene.

There’s actually a reason he doesn’t express his feelings to frieren.
Himmel loved Frieren romantically for sure. It's why he understood her so much and knew even of her future actions, and he knows her sense of time and how she would respond to his feelings if he even admitted them, will be always different, as she is an elf, and he was human. It's probably the main reason why he never pursued a relationship beyond camaraderie.
