Mexico is actually very well know for producing high quality leather work. Mexican saddles are amazing.

I like how he was complementing the quality of the sheath and when he saw it was made in Mexico he flipped. So ironic

Mexican saddles are among the best in the world my friend by the time the first Europeans step foot in North American shores, the Mexican people had been doing this for over 500 years. some of their work can still be found in museums. You should get some more stamps on your passport and get to know other cultures before judging people skills based on the color of their skin. Good review anyway.

He's not pissed because people in Mexico are
making things, it's that he bought a knife with a leather sheath that
advertises being made in the U.S.A, what he got was a knife made in the
U.S.A with a sheath made in Mexico. I'd be mad to if I didn't get was
advertised when I bought a product. Even if it meant I was paying more
for equal quality, I just like supporting people in my country, he may feel the same.

Where the heck did you see the sheath advertised as made in usa?? Only the knife is advertised as such.

Direct quote from the Buck website,
      "Blade Shape:Clip
      Blade Length:3" (7.6 cm)
      Weight:5.6 oz. (159.4 g)
      Handle:Dymondwood
      Carry System:Sheath
      Origin:Made in the USA"
Listed right below... No asterisk and no side note.

Isn't it obvious that this is a description of the knife? All this information (blade shape, length, weight, handle, carry system) refer to the knife, even the fact that it includes a sheath as carry system. From this info, I don't understand that the sheath is made in the USA, only that the knife includes a sheath and is made in the USA. You misread this info.

It doesn't say or signal otherwise, so why would it not be assumed, especially considering Made in the USA is right above it? Why are you so defensive of Buck anyhow? The complaint was about what seems to be false advertising, not the quality; although Buck QC has dropped to an all time low here recently (Had to send my Buck 830 Marksman back 4 times for them to fix everything that I pointed out)....

Mexican leather is known to be high quality.
    Mexican sheath = high quality
    USA knife = high quality
    The best of both worlds

  • @presterjohn71

From your point of view isn't it better to have the sheath made by Mexicans in Mexico (where they live) rather than have no job and try and come into the USA to get one?

Mexico has always been Part of North America. There is no need to express yourself like that about immigrants.

You can always use Brass-O , or if you do not like the stronger smell of Brass-O, you can use ketchup, to remove any tarnishing from the solid brass on the knife.
You have to let the ketchup sit for a few minutes, tho, and I would use a q-tip to dab it on. :)

Why is it that nothing, I mean nothing is ever free of race in conversation, presentation or discussion? We all bleed the same red blood. When I look at a child of ANY race, I see a previous life. Color is nothing more than a superficial visual. The same good, bad and indifference can be found in every single race on earth. No ethnicity has a monopoly on any characterist, habbit or proclivity. By the way, I found a super mint Buck 112 in nickel silver in original sheath made in 1995 for $35 at a gun show this past weekend. Super knife.

Nice piece of kit. Got myself one of these in the UK but we end up paying £ prices for things you lucky guys can purchase in $US. Still, I reckon its worth it.

Like the review. There are custom automatic (switchblade) versions available if it interests you. They usually go for a pretty penny.

It feels good and works well in a couple of grips but not so good in others. I'm not big on ergos that dictate finger placement, just less functional imo. To each his own

@NJDevilTactical I replied to a comment about my disagreement to your comment about the sheath being made in Mexico (I think it should be made in the USA too since the knives are, but it's still high quality as you determined), but I still enjoyed this video nonetheless and liked your review of the knife. It helped me decide which one to buy as a Christmas gift for someone. I'm getting one engraved for my dad! Thanks!

Most leather from Mexico is cheap crap. Part of the reason that the brass bolsters tarnish so quickly when stored in the sheath. Knife sheaths that are going to be used with knives with brass components and/or carbon steel should be made with quality vegetable tanned leather like Herman Oak Leather. Most of the cheap leather from Mexico is tanned with urine and has a high acid content that will react with brass. Buck makes some fine quality made in the USA knives but a lot of their sheaves are poor quality imported from other countrys because they are cheap. I don't know if all the 110 and 112 sheaves are now made the USA or not because I havn't bought one lately but a buddy of mine from Alaska just bought a Buck 110 automatic and the sheath is made in the USA. Mexico can make some quality leather if they want to but most of the leather they import here is crap.

He’s pissed because it’s taking jobs from the American people not because it’s bad quality.
