Game description:
The terrorist Boris has placed a bomb in the city! As a member of the bomb squad, it is the player's job to disarm the bomb before it explodes.
Start the game with a view of the code number display which is damaged. In order to find the code which disarms the bomb, the player has to repair the various circuits in order to fix the display. By selecting a square on the code number display, the player will be brought to the corresponding circuit which can be repaired using cutters, pliers, and soldering iron. The player's partner, Frank, will guide through the repairs by telling the player what needs to be done, in what order repairs should be performed, and by helping the player position the tools. Depending on the circuit, the player may need to cut out parts or replace parts (spare parts are located at the top of the screen). If the player use an incorrect replacement part, or perform the repairs in the wrong order, the player will lose time or even cause the bomb to explode.
On the more difficult skill levels, circuit parts may even overheat and cause a fire; luckily, the player also have a fire extinguisher with you to deal with this situation! When enough circuits have been repaired, the player can decipher the code, enter it into the computer, and the bomb will be disarmed (an incorrect guess will cause it to explode, however). The player may choose to have a one, two, or three digit code to guess and several difficulty levels are available.
I love how they celebrate the defusion of a bomb
with fireworks
I mean, kind of defeats the purpose of not having something potentially dangerous blow up.
The voices, especially the accents, and the sound are really compelling. It's really got a crazy urgency to it, I don't know -but thanks a million for posting this, I have never seen an Intellivision much less the voice module!
Growing up the intel was the console that made me a gamer. We would often spend evenings after dinner curled up around an old black and grey plastic RCA Tv in a scrap wood entertainment unit in the living room playing. Mom was always better then I was, but then again I was 3, she was still her 30's. Even her and my Aunt Bonnie would be up till 3 am playing Astrosmash. Don't get me wrong I love today's consoles. I love my wii u, my ps3 my 3ds, and sp but there was something refreshing and fun about going back and exploring where it all began for me as a gamer. I don't regret spending money on my intel super pro. 4
When you had to replace circuits on a panel connected to the bomb in Bomb Squad it was either the color of the piece or the exact shape of the piece
that voice+sound effects+music is stressful as balls wow
That's the point so the developers did their job well.
The most stressful is the controller
... and this is just the easy level. On the hard level you have to decipher three different numbers to figure out the code, so even high-tailing it with experience it was still down to the wire.

Can you explain how this works? I really don't get the dynamic :/
@@botmexicanpatriot So the point of this game is to defuse a bomb before it blows up the city skyline. You do this by inputting the correct 1, 2, or 3 digit code (depending on how many you set at the start of the game). To figure out each number, you need to go into the circuits and decode them. Every time you decode a sector of the electronics, the game reveals whether a part of the number on the 4x5 grid is actually a part of a number of the code or not. Now, you're not going to go through all 20 sectors of a number, but if you are smart, you can figure out for sure what a number is by decoding no more than 3 or 4 circuits, usually.
@@stevendebettencourt7651 Too stressful for me, miss me with that lol. The game looks really fun, especially for its time, but I wouldn't reccommend it to someone with heart problems, lol.

Like Extase, I have only the faintest idea what's going on, but I find it fascinating.
Lucky guess with the "6". Could have been "2", "6", "8", "9", or "0" with the two circuits you did.
Bizarre but true: I was playing this game when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded on 1/28/86. Seriously.

soldering iron. scissors/wire cutters. pliars. those are your tools. must replace diodes, relays, etc etc. you are diffusing a bomb. you must figure out which number the repaired circuits represent to diffuse the bomb.

I'm too dumb for this game.
Lol, believe me, first I had no idea what to do either.
Then I checked this video: How to play BOMB SQUAD on Intellivision and complete guide
and from there on I knew what to do.
Nice to know - I'll need to watch the video ;-)
IT VONT BE EASY....
Imagine the late 80s/early 90s - no RUclips, pick this up at the swap meet - no instruction book... I used to tell my friends it was just a "fun with shapes/blow up a building simulator"
That is until I finally figured it out - quickly jumped on the phone
"Did you know you can actually STOP the bomb from going off?!? Yeah! Me neither!!!"
this is on a higher level of intelligence
Games back then had a manual, maybe try reading it next time
4:40 if that’s supposed to be a skyline it looks more like a sound wave pattern I know it’s the Intellivision and the graphics weren’t all that great back then but still that skyline reminds me of a sound wave layout
This game has a very interesting concept. I like it.
this actually look pretty fun to play despite how old and dated it look

Played this as a kid so many times.
O_O holy mother of God! I wonder how it feels to play this high or drunk
You were kind of suicidal in this game because you took a long shot at guessing the code was 6 since it could of been other numbers. I did that too when I played this in the early 80s and it was fun if I happen to select the wrong number/code (or messed up due to being nervous with the cutters or tools) causing the building to explode. Sadly the hand controller buttons of that Intellivision console didn't last long like less than 4 or 5 years of heavy play and you couldn't replace them since they could not disconnect from the console.
Yeah, hokey now but back then it was great.
i used to love this game as a kid

I don't get it I mean that's not how bomb disposal works. You don't replace parts of the bomb you cut wires or blow up the bomb with another bomb but not replacing parts.
Yeah I played that before and I have a remake version on my ps3. I know how that game goes.
I was just saying this bombsquad game is too out of context to make any sense.
@@Cacowninja Hes saying it doesn't have to make sense. Its a video game.
@@lllXpOlll While there's no real rule/law that a game has to make sense I like them to be realistic anyway.
I mean this is bomb disposal/diffusal which is done in real life so I think this game portraying it should be realistic.
