My mom legit took this movie away from when I was kid because I was acting too much like Massie🤣
Never heard of the books/movie before, but seeing Bridget Mendler all of a sudden gave me whiplash.
I think I watched and read the books and the movie but I can't remember what it was about at all and I almost broke my neck when I saw her.
Didn't remember that she was in this movie. It honestly jumped scared me I didn't see her till 4 minutes in 😂

I kept waiting for the girl who says “My LiPs ArE bUrNiNg” on the bus bc that’s my favorite part of this movie 😂
“dylan!!! hey king“ the way i cackled 🤭😂
aaaaaaaaaaaa i remember being so annoyed because the poor girl was asked to choose between being a friendless loser and having a bunch of friends that secretly hate her in a round of would you rather but they made her choose the opposite of what she chose in the book!!!! why???
Yes! It bugged me too both her and Maddie thought it was better to have a lot of friends that secretly hate you, because according to Massie at least in one version you wouldn’t be alone.
@@Hannamarin16 You mean Massie
BasicGorl has been introducing me to underrated iconic shows i never knew of and I’m honestly here for it 😌✨
It’s a movie lol
I was waiting for the Teddy and Skylar reference and you did not disappoint 🙌
Massie pronouncing Claire "Kuh-lare" kills me. It's a one-syllable name-
Yeah, she did in the books all the time
No because claire did hack into her messages and call all her friends mean names-
Please I remember I did that irl once. Got my phone taken off me for a week 😐
But were they really her friends at that point? They treated her terribly.
honestly it’s what they deserved, they were all snobby and rude to her so they can’t be surprised when she retaliated back🧍
More precisely Maisie friend not claire friend they were never friend
@@charlotteaitchison2922 lol Claire has been rude from the beginning tho
i was about to ponder how reading these books as a preteen altered my life but then it struck me one of the plot points is Massie convincing Alicia to tell her her biggest secret so it’ll create a bond that will make it difficult for either of them to break, and in a state of intense adolescent loneliness i told who i considered my best friend that i was this other girl’s biggest fan and really admired her, just hoping it would bring us closer but it completely backfired and she told everyone i was a lesbian and that’s how i learned i was gay. and for some reason the other half of the story where Massie spills Alicia’s secret and ruins their relationship never ever crossed my mind that it would happen to me as well. Life imitates art
She didn’t convince Alicia , she convinced Dylan and Kristen , Massie was mad at Alicia for starting her own clique and Alicia got Todd to eavesdrop on their conversation , and report back to her , and she was the one who told everybody their secrets . Not massie
Damn
I'm so sorry that happened to you but glad there was silver lining
I remember being rude to a girl for still reading these books in high school - as if I was some icon of culture when I was reading like Eragon and shit 🙄🙈
Eragon was actually really good. His writing did get better in the sequels though.
@@luuuuux_Yeah it can be fun; I read to the third book as a teen. Out of everything I'm still mostly impressed by the name Galbatorix. That's is a *chef kiss* villain name.
@@starsINSPACE right?!? Have you read the fourth one? The ending honestly tore my ship to pieces.

@@yukijames1321 Yeah, I reread the books recently & I can’t believe they were catered towards middle schoolers. There were so many comments that went over my head at the time but now I’m just kinda shocked.
@@yukijames1321 I agree I read them in 5th grade and the whole time I thought they were high schools despite the number of times middle school was mentioned
Y’all remember when Massie called Alicia “Fannish” aka “fake Spanish”? After she found out Alicia’s last name was a regular English name because of her father.
The only thing I can think about is when she says "an æg? Sure!" At 8:09
fun fact the cast of the clique was signed on to do 3 movies! but the recession hit and changed everything. ellen marlow mentioned it in a Q&A video
my 7th grade self was OBSESSED

"Where do ugly girls like you go?" 😂 These little brothers stay roasting their older sisters in movies
They’re in seventh grade people, they’re not little kids and it’s clear they’re acting like teenagers because of the environment they were raised in. I don’t know about you guys but I was thirteen when I was in 7th grade. I kinda understand their behavior but as an adult I feel like I would never be okay with my teen child shopping alone after school. Idk that’s just me tho.
7th graders are 11-12 tho
@@leahdavis9434 some seventh graders are thirteen. While I do agree that seventh graders aren’t little kids, I do think that they did a lot of things in that movie that were quite a bit too adult for seventh graders lol
@@leahdavis9434 most are 12-13
@@glittergutz2000 you're right, it's 12-13 not 11-12, but that doesn't make them any less children. That being said the whole thing with the main cast is that they're all neglected emotionally by parents who expect them to look and act a certain way and they're extremely rich (except Claire and I *think* Kristen). They've got different rules and milestones than the rest of us
Ok
“ I can’t just wear one earring I ‘ll look like Johnny Depp “ girl I wish I could pull off looking like him
I applied fashion major because of this movie. Fell in love immediately with fashion after watching this when I was 12. Iconic.
"Loser, loser, double loser, whatever, as if, get the picture, duh!"
Oh damn nobody in my school knew this movie and I basically forced my then-best friend to watch it 😂
Oh my gosh, I used to love this movie when I was younger. The Clique and Minor Details were my absolute shit.
yessss minor details
I remember always wishing they had made movies up until book 3 because we didn’t get to see Cam or Dylan in this one. Never finished the series but I read too much of it
Alicia is literally gorg I was so jealous of her as a kid LMAO
middle school me is ecstatic rn
Okay but the most iconic line in this movie is “loser loser double loser as if get the picture duh”
this was the energy mean girls 2 trying to achieve but failed
I can't believe I read the books. I honestly could not believe how disrespectful and rude these girls could be and were "friends". Also how grown they were acting. My mom would kick me out the house real quick! Kinda liked Alicia tho.
I reread/listened to these books in the past year or so for the first time as an adult (I haven't read them since I was in middle school as many of them were coming out), and these books are just *chefs kiss delightful to me. As someone who actually grew up in the Orlando area, I was also baffled about how Massie thought people in Orlando were all poor/dressed poorly when I had more than one friend who's parents owned likely million dollar homes.
I was obsessed with the books and when I finally saw the movie I was so pressed that most of the girls didn't look like their book descriptions oof
And dylan was supposed to be chubby, no? But the actress was the skinniest one.
@@ponzu638 I think that she was actually supposed to be plus-sized, but you're right that they got her figure wrong 😅

My friends and I literally quoted this movie all the time in middle school (we read the books too, the plaid covers ugh) we’d reenact the bbq scene and the part where she loses her diamond earring in the hall and screams NOBODY MOVE
The Clique books came out starting in 2004, the movie came out in 2008. Gossip Girl the book came out in 2002, the show started in 2007. Gossip Girl came first. Just a heads up. But I totally LOVE both. This vid is perf.
Thank youuuuu. I was HEATED at the suggestion that Gossip Girl *followed* the Clique like excuse you??? Gossip Girl was the OG pre-teen trash series, please put some respect on Cecily von Ziegesar's name.
I FORGOT HOW MUCH I WAS OBSESSED WITH THIS MOVIE 😭😭😭😭
