  • Hello everyone
In this video I will show you how to export in the HDR photo format. Recently, many phones have taken advantage of exporting in this format, making photos appear more true to life than SDR photos. Similarly to HDR video, HDR photos have the same advantages over SDR photos. Now with a recent Lightroom update, we can do the same for our DSLR and Mirrorless camera's images, giving us the ability to export in HDR.
This video does NOT go over HDR bracketing, but only exporting in HDR.
View the images used in this video below, and use these images to preview in HDR on your phone or HDR enabled display.

    ..wha..
Why would you edit a photo in HDR, if you're using an SDR display? "So for best practises I recommend clicking preview for SDR"?! That's.. like the worst advice possible for this.. The whole point of HDR is to get extra dynamic range, it literally means "High Dynamic Range". If you can't see what you're making, why go through this effort in the first place?
If you don't have an HDR display, don't edit in HDR as you can't see what you're doing, nor the result of what you've done. If you DO have an HDR display.. don't edit in SDR preview.. as you'd STILL NOT SEE what you're doing.

I recommend this for people who don’t have an HDR display to edit on, after exporting the images you can view them on an HDR display such as your phone and the format will be shown correctly. Of course if you already have an HDR display that you’re editing on, there is no need to preview in HDR.
