    Durston certainly do come up with some good ideas. Heres one.
    For some people, and some uses, this kind of bench could be a must. I dare say Matthew at Durston with produce some kind of add on perhaps to further stabilize it, so its maximum height can be fully utilized. Still very impressive. Thanks for showing us Andrew, very interesting to me.

    This would be perfect for me as I have so many back problems I constantly need to change height depending on what I’m working on! And to be able to stand whilst working and not having to bend over all the time would be wonderful.

    I recently bought a basic Durston bench. Had this been available I would still have stuck with the basic bench.

    It’s clever, and I do like the idea of being able to adjust the height, but it doesn’t seem very practical to me because it lacks so many classic bench features.
    I’m curious what *you* plan to use it for?

      I like to adjust my height while I work too, so I bought a $50 desk chair that does just that with a lever.

    very interesting, have all the GRS bench plates, etc. Agree, that under bench storage would be limited.

    Interesting 🤔 What are your thoughts about using it? During your career have you often wished that your bench was adjustable? I could see it being useful for somethings.
    I also think that the “child safety lock” would be pretty easy for a child to circumnavigate. Especially since the 2 buttons are identified with a lock and all you have to do is to hold them until they beep. I can imagine a little one figuring it out.

      I have used it at its normal height and it is a good Bench at that height. Obviously it isn’t going to be as stable as a 4 legged bench due to its construction.

    I like the idea of having a bench that you can adjust. I would miss drawers or something else for storage , because it’s not a big bench and their isn’t a lot of space for tools. But as an extra bench, this could be nice?
    Thanks for sharing it with us!

      £775 inc. VAT + Delivery. It looks like an expensive flimsy toy. Maybe good for beading or other very light work. Last year I bought a bench peg with anvil from Durston ( durston.com/product/steel-anvil-and-bench-peg/ ) for around £33 inc. VAT. It had a Hex head for tightening and the anvil surface was painted. I had to drill the hex head and fit a long masonry nail. Then redden the end of the nail and crimp it to stop it falling out. Then remove the paint from the anvil and polish that. I love it now as I don't need a spanner every time I want to move it.
      Durston tools are generally very good quality but the design team need a bit more spark.

      @@Atthebench I would definitely need one, I spend an inordinate amount of time on the floor with a flashlight looking for the odd-bit that I dropped!

    • @wendyannh
      @wendyannh 4 года назад +1

      Dan Pitrello I’d want one just to catch my sweeps so I can either melt them down and reuse them or send them off to the refiner to cash in! But yeah, definitely dropping things, plus keeping certain tools quite handy. I’ve seen some people use them for soldering stations, too, although I’m not that brave.
      I also really like armrests, and drawers!

    looks very unstable all round, what good is it apart from being I would say a very expensive gimmick, if you are hammering a piece of work on that bench that motor is going to have a great deal of vibration going through it so that wont last long, anything of that nature should be on a spring loaded plug in unit clipped onto the side of the bench, durston have a rethink go back to the drawing board give it a bit more strength and stability sort out where your going to put all the fancy gear try try and try again.

    • @Atthebench
      @Atthebench  4 года назад

      To be honest Albert I can’t imagine you would be doing too much heavy hammering on this bench. When the bench is at its normal height of around 1m height the stability is very good. It does get a wobbly the higher it goes as I showed.

    So with this bench you actually save yourself from buying a Grs Adjustable Height bracket/ ball vise shelf/ and manh hundreds of adjustable things in the market just to position yourself working with a microscope and a ballvise.
