Those barrel bands are pretty cool! Those Eagle buttons are amazing and the poker chip ones........ WOW!!!!! Such a personal piece to find, I love when you find stuff people altered back in the day to re-purpose as something else. Great Video Cliff, didnt realize I missed this one!
VERY much enjoyed your video! I recently dug a pit in Cold Harbor, and there's nothing I enjoy more. You found more buttons, but I found the remains of a cartridge box and I think 52 bullets. It's on my channel from maybe a month ago. Well done and I'm a new sub!
My boss years ago in Many, Louisiana, Mike Tarver who was the Mayor, gave me permission to metal detect on several hundred acres he owned that Battles took place on. Nobody I knew liked detecting, nobody would go with me, and it isn`t safe at all to go deep in the Louisiana woods alone so I didn`t go. The Battle of Mansfield was also connected to this same land. Even near the La/Tx line on the upper Sabine River a few miles from Toledo Bend Lake I found small cannon balls, buttons, belt buckles, etc but only a few bullets. Didn`t know much about what to look for in the 90s though and still don`t. Even in the 1970s when I got my first detector in central Louisiana about 35 miles west of Natchez, MS, an old heavy Whites that needed a pound or two of batteries, I found cannon balls, bullets, buttons, and a lot of things I didn`t recognize as treasure. My detector then and in the 90s only detected small buttons and coins down to about 5 or 6 inches if I was lucky. Now all the land is posted and we can`t go anywhere without permission because of hunting leases and kids making property owners mad by trashing the old swimming holes or getting hurt and trying to sue. Even the lakes and boat landing roads have gates up. So I have a Vanquish 340 and an old Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202 in case I happen to run into somebody that might let me detect if I let them use a machine or something. I know where some 1700s settlements are that are now just woods that are loaded with artifacts and hunting leases have gates up. Even our old 1800s family homestead and graveyard is off limits. So much for "freedom."
Get the 13inch coil. I’m surprised how well it separates in iron for its size. A bit deeper for finding those pits too. Enjoyed watching!! Thanks for sharing
