    Hi Mark -- As you know, when you snap a DE blade in half, the resulting 2 halves have slightly curved top edges on them. This may effect the alignment of the half-blade when you load and then clamp down on the half-blade. The Leaf Company made provision for the resulting curved ends of the snapped half-blade, in the design of the Twig/Thorn head assembly. When the top plate lifts up and then away from the blade holding area of the head assembly, you'll see that the Company engineered a slight curve on each of the 2 ends of the underside of the top plate. These slight curves coordinate with the 2 curved ends of the snapped half-blade. When you load the half-blade onto the head assembly, just make sure the 2 curved ends of the half-blade face down. The top plate with its 2 curved ends will clamp down perfectly onto the 2 curved ends of the half-blade. The half-blade will be perfectly aligned every time! Take care,................BOB MAIKOWSKI

    I think Leaf took account of the bent ends, when a DE blade is snapped, by the curves built into the razor head ends. Obviously you follow those curves, when seating the snapped blade, so that the curves at the blade ends follow the curves in the head ends to sit comfortably.

      Yes, that was my conclusion, as well.

    Mike, thanks for the details on blade snapping. I agree. The Twig is very maneuverable.

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  7 месяцев назад

      I was happily surprised by its maneuverability. All I had to do was get the correct shade angle and I was good to go. However, as I noted, it did take me a few shaves to figure out the correct angle. Once I got that correct angle, the shaves were wonderful and continue to be wonderful.

      @MarkSzorady Hi. Do you recommend this one or the solo edge? I'm looking for a monofile. On the other hand, they say that the Leaf has fit problems. They become out of adjustment with use. Thanks

    • @MarkSzorady
      @MarkSzorady  4 месяца назад

      @@Franshaves I have not used the Solo Edge so cannot compare to the Twig. I've heard some passing comments that the Leaf Twig may have some issues with the mechanism. I'm not entirely sure what that involves. So far, the one I have works nicely and opens and closes well. It secures the blade well, too. I think it's one of the better SE razors on the market for SE blade (snapped or pre-snapped) compatibility and delievring a nice smooth mild shave.

      So if you had to recommend an SE as a favorite, would it be this one? By the way, in DE and AC, what did you like that I shaved?

    Recently picked up the thorn and had a shave with it. On first stroke I did try it at too steep an angle but once i realized it was closer to a DE razor angle, the rest of the shave was great. It was very smooth but I did have a few zings on the neck area. Overall a great shave will try with a non leaf blade next time. Definitely takes awhile though to open and close, reminds me of the T2 in that regard 😂

    Thanks, Mark. The Leaf Twig is probably my favorite daily shaver. It's just fun to use. Now if I have a couple of days growth, out of my many razors I typically turn to my Phoenix Meta 4 or my Rockford 6S. I love these razors, too. It's just wonderful to have so many great choices for shaving today. 😀

      I agree. It's great to be doing the traditional wet shave at this time in history. So many great choices from shaving razors to artisan soaps!

    Snapped blades work just fine in the twig/thorn razor. I have both and have the thorn as my travel razor. I have noticed the snapped blade can not clamp fullly in a razor that is enclosed, like the Parker solo edge. Another youtuber recomended to just trim the curved edges so solve the issue.

    Nice shave, Mark. I’ve tried many blades with this razor. Was almost about to give up on it as I was getting many cuts and razor burns with most of the blades I was pairing it with. Then I tried it with a feather blade. Voilà! worked like a charm. I started getting excellent shaves after that. Since then I only use feather blades with my Leaf Twig razor. Cheers! 🍻

      because it’s so light & smooth you can find yourself getting razor burn easily if you don’t pay attention. i’ve noticed turning it slightly so the angle is higher that works perfectly but takes a little practice

    Great video Mark. When using this razor, I too nicked myself and always on the chin. I tried several different blades and still could not get a good shave. I am so glad it is working for you and you got a good shave. Have a great week. 👍

      Bill, as with all things concerning the traditional wet shave, Your Mileage May Vary. It did take me several shaves to find the correct shading angle and really hit the rhythm of the razor. Thank you again so much for sending the twig to the channel. But the real upside is, because you sent the Twig to the channel, we were able to show it to all the viewers and give them another perspective on how the razor works. Thank you so very much.

    Ark the only time I think the snapped blades bent end comes into play is when they tabs break unevenly and it's long enough to curl around that piece. I've had it happen a few times when I first started shaving, so I mention it to new users of the razor. I always have this razor on standby if I'm having a hard time with a new razor. I also love using this to get the hairs closer to my ears since it has such a small head. With these razors just be sure to not overtighten at either end of the threads.

      Mike, thanks for all the great additional detailed information. I agree, the razor head is very maneuverable. I like how it incorporates for the bent edges on a snap blade. But, thanks for all the information regarding snapping blades. Very helpful.

    Here is a tip from GeoFatBoy on dividing a DE blade into 2 halves for use in a shavette. It would also apply to single-edge razors.
