Was 18 just legal to drive and my dad gave me the car to get a bunch of us to a gig in the National Stadium on SCR Dublin. 50 years ago and I remember as a crazy brilliant night. Rory was a special one.
Greatest musician ever, in my opinion. He really loved what he was doing and it shows in the end result of all his albums and live performances. Rory was a one off who i loved listening to since i was 15 and now i am 59 and still appreciate this great guy - i love this man - genius is a light word-thank god we had musicians like him.
This is what made this guy outstanding, his songs are never played the same way twice. There are always little different things thrown in to keep it fresh, the sign of a true musical genius.
Rory and my mother are cousins, a lot of the Gallagher’s are ridiculously talented musicians. My oldest brother is in the category of being a really talented guitarist but never became famous, played Glastonbury once with his band ‘all talk’ in the early 90’s . RIP Rory!
Happy Birthday Rory. (2.3.'48 - 14.6.'95). Although it will soon be 20 years since you left us, your amazing legacy lives on. RIP William Rory Gallagher.
So in '78 when I could barely afford a gig every fortnight at the Apollo, instead of seeing Television, The Only Ones or Alex Harvey, I went to see Rory. Absolutely no regrets.
Derek Wilson lucky you I came across Phil Lynott and some of his band drinking by themselves in a Dublin pub in the early 70s and was reluctant to go up to him and ask for himself autograph I am kicking myself to this day
Brings a tear to my eye every time I watch a Rory video, a magician with the strat, can remember last concert of a tour at Newcastle city hall late 70"s, what a night,
Fuck me. Never heard of this guy and i'm into guitars for many years... Was watching a clip where Johnny Marr was playing on his guitar and I was " Who the hell is Rory? Damn, he's a beast.
How Brown Rory didn't have a whammy bar on his Strat....didn't resort to tapping....avoided wah-wah pedals...long boring solos....always was and will be to me the embodiment of a guitarist. Great tone to his playing....
+Randico Enrico Gonzalez Jr. Rory WAS and NEVER will b underrated. He's in top 3 ever. How's that underrated. U guys getting mistaken with the fact Rory fought the establishment and never released singles. My go look at him. There is no guitarist worth his salt that doesn't no how good this man was
Rory was one of the Best Guitar player of all time in my opinion. What I meant when I said he was underrated is I'm from Canada and I like to think I know a lot about rock, and I never even heard of him until I was 50yrs old and I only know one other person that knew who he was. How can someone be that awesome and fly under the North American rock radar? On his skill alone he deserves to be known world wide. I know that the main reasons were fear of flying and his not wanting to become a hit single artist
I wish we had this time, today. Just having fun together with simple things. Music is balm for the soul. Humanity has evolved into something terrible. R.I.P. Rory Gallagher thank you rory for your wonderful music.
Shin Kicker is perfect to open up a gig. He did this many times. So everybody knew what to exspect for the next 3 hours. 150 percent pedal to the metal. We`ll never forget you for this, Rory.

Rory was a complete master of his craft , I was very fortunate to see him live a couple of times and he was the best , I got the feeling I'd witnessed something really special , RIP Rory
Rory doesn't need any so called hall of fame ,He is and always will be to all that heard him something that something special that erupts within their lives and provides a sound that is so joyous, so full of life that enraptures their soul. Over 50 years after first seeing him at a concert with Taste I am still so enraptured. Surely that is the mark of a master. I loved you then and even though the years grow long since you left us I love you still. For me you will always be the man.
Nobody can do this anymore...Rory was the only one that could play like a true Boss. Rory owns his songs heart and soul. If your lucky enough to of had Rory cover your song....then you got to hear your song played ALL OUT! RG played all out and its hard rock and pure talent. He was always on fire until his health declined, and even then he still wanted to light the place up. No wonder our kids are turning into greedy self indulgent, self absorbed, little minded individuals who want nothing but what they think they deserve. So... I go to that time...
Time and Years Pass and I consider myself as being privileged to have seen this great musician perform live in front of myself and a dazzled audience.
So did I in72 I think oxford absolutely brilliant
Eric Clapton - GET LOST!
He is overrated!!!!
I miss Rory so much he was my friend for some years
❤❤❤❤
As soon is this ends its time to play it over again. Sooooooooooo good.
This is so awesome to listen i will never forget him no day.
I saw the taste in 67 or 68 at the Woburn or Windsor festival cannot remember exactly but it was their first gig since arriving from Ireland he blew me away still play him now at 72 your never too old to listen to Rory.
I’m 47 and I’m from the states and I’m just learning about him.he was never played over here.but my god he is everything I love about rock and blues ..pure ..and I’m a Murphy so mix all that with his Irish upbrings he is aabsolutely something that I feel I should have been listening to for the last 30 some years..after hearing recently for the first time I went and bought 5 albums the next day..
He played here a lot..your just too young. He was playing here in the early 90's..San Diego, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland.
I think he did about 26 tours of the states.... the album Notes from San Francisco was recorded there but not released until recently
Edit your statement he has played over here
Don't know where you've been but we were rockin with Rory in Detroit back in 70s! Helluva concert!
Rory played small venues and College towns constantly. Here in Missouri, everybody loved him, we never could figure why he didn't get huge.
The legend from Ireland...jakarta 👍👍👍
Not only can he play the guitar like ringing a bell
Hes fkn entertainment to watch dance around
The goat
Rory Gallagher- "Shin Kicker" live at Montreux 1979.💘
Connu ça jeune à l'époque grâce à mon oncle.. j'ai 54 ans aujourd'hui .. ça n'a pas vieilli
Rory was a one off who i loved listening to since i was 15 and now i am 59 and still appreciate this great guy - i love this man - genius is a light word-thank god we had musicians like him.
listening since i was 11 ...57 now still love his music..seen him live in 78 and 82...he was fantastic
Bloody hell, this is SHIT HOT!!!. I knew Rory was good but this....WOW!
By all means then check out video from the early 70s!
This is what made this guy outstanding, his songs are never played the same way twice. There are always little different things thrown in to keep it fresh, the sign of a true musical genius.
The lyrics aren't even close to what they're supposed to be but who gives a shit? Best version of Shinkicker, says me.
Incredible!! Truly amazing!! Unmatched!! Gone too soon 😢 Pure talent👍 SO damn good!! Fly high, guitar angel. Rest in power🎸
He is in my personal hall of fame!!
Rory and my mother are cousins, a lot of the Gallagher’s are ridiculously talented musicians. My oldest brother is in the category of being a really talented guitarist but never became famous, played Glastonbury once with his band ‘all talk’ in the early 90’s . RIP Rory!
Whats the name of your brother? Who knows we can seek end find that gig on RUclips!
Johnny?
Happy Birthday Rory. (2.3.'48 - 14.6.'95). Although it will soon be 20 years since you left us, your amazing legacy lives on. RIP William Rory Gallagher.
So in '78 when I could barely afford a gig every fortnight at the Apollo, instead of seeing Television, The Only Ones or Alex Harvey, I went to see Rory. Absolutely no regrets.
Derek Wilson Interesting in that ex-SAHB drummer Ted McKenna joined up with Rory and is on hand here. Great times.
Derek Wilson lucky you I came across Phil Lynott and some of his band drinking by themselves in a Dublin pub in the early 70s and was reluctant to go up to him and ask for himself autograph I am kicking myself to this day
Alex Harvey,Rory.
Woah.
@George Robartes Zal is on the road now with his band - Zal Cleminson's Sin Dogs.
Saw him there a few times in the 70s there too. Anazing
Talk about raw power, energy, and damn fine guitar playing!
One of the very best ever to play a guitar.
What a bloody set.
RIP Rory!!
Brings a tear to my eye every time I watch a Rory video, a magician with the strat, can remember last concert of a tour at Newcastle city hall late 70"s, what a night,
No one compared with his style & passion. Greatest guitarist of them all!! Rip Rory you will never be forgotten🎶💖!!!
Fuck me. Never heard of this guy and i'm into guitars for many years... Was watching a clip where Johnny Marr was playing on his guitar and I was " Who the hell is Rory? Damn, he's a beast.
***** Hendrix only saw Gallagher up until late 1970....I'm sure his opinion of Rory would have increased had he lived longer....
How Brown Rory didn't have a whammy bar on his Strat....didn't resort to tapping....avoided wah-wah pedals...long boring solos....always was and will be to me the embodiment of a guitarist. Great tone to his playing....
+TurfGuy Fucking rights, Rory rules. The best under the radar performer of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Such a modest man who had such a wonderful gift to make so so many people happy, His music and talent will live on forever,. Simply awesome 👍🏻
For sure he made a lot of Greeks happy and can't be undone
ROCK N ROLL NOT DEAD
I wish we had this time, today. Just having fun together with simple things. Music is balm for the soul. Humanity has evolved into something terrible.
R.I.P. Rory Gallagher
thank you rory for your wonderful music.
Fantastic. A Mark of the best guitarists is their live work. This is Rory at his best, the song is called shin kicker.
Best guitarist ever
Christ he could play that thing. What a talent. RIP Rory.
It makes me feel so good to see the happiness of Rory playing live just doing his thing and entertaining so many people.
Shin Kicker is perfect to open up a gig. He did this many times. So everybody knew what to exspect for the next 3 hours. 150 percent pedal to the metal. We`ll never forget you for this, Rory.
Amazing stuff. Virtuouso performance.
Wow .what can i say proud to be irish
Every performance by Rory was his best performance.
He is absolutely SO DAMN AMAZING!!! What a ripper of a song. We are SO blessed to have these videos, thank you, thank you, thank you. these you HAVE to see to really get him.
Rory is No1.
Always has been.
The rest are so far behind it doesnt matter.
Rory was a complete master of his craft , I was very fortunate to see him live a couple of times and he was the best , I got the feeling I'd witnessed something really special , RIP Rory
Rory the best no one comes close
Ditto saw him twice also. The master, so special.
Class Act of all the Guitar Legends this guys is a real deal. Soul of an Irish poet and the rock fury of a Guitar God. RIP Brother your the #1 Guitar Legend in my book ... miss SRV and Hendrix, but Rory man he's like a fountain of skill and inspiration. LEGEND period!
And its not about a Great PERFORMANCE . ITS ABOUT CANT HOLD ME DOWN ANYWAY . NO FRONT. Pure ROCK N ROLL . Real Effect. Cant teach it. You got it or you dont, or you simply cant dig it out. HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHO IS WATCHING.
Rory is a Guitar God sleep easy Rory Margo,
Right
Right
No disrespect to you or Mr. G. But you day no one can do this anymore? Watch me. It's my dream to become what this guy has become... whether or not I end up famous. This comment is truly motivational
Good lord, what an absolutely brilliant guitarist. Hugely underrated. Up there with Hendrix, Clapton, Moore and SRV.
There is a story, probably true, that a journalist asked Jimi Hendrix as he was on his way through Heathrow, "How does it feel to be the greatest guitarist in the world" and Jimi said, "I don't know man, you need to go and ask Rory Gallagher". Probably true.
@@hjonm9730 The many different answers to that question would make one suspect that Hendrix was putting the questioner on.
The man is a musical Icon.
Greatly underrated.
got into william rory gallagher aged 12 or 13 lucky enough to of saw him 3 times live in the 70s early 80s in very small venues in bristol,am now 65 and still can never get enough of him, quite simply the best ever and ive seen the so called greats "ALL OF THEM,"love n miss u rory, god bless
Rory gives any guitarist from any era a serious run for their money; he really was that great.
Rory is some player , but hats of to his band awesome back-line
Yeah really tight rhythm section
Rory didn't ask for it, but they give their pound of flesh and some...Long live Rory
Gerry is such an underrated bass player
Gerry still going strong with band of friends. Incredibly overlooked bass player.
He had quite a few different drummers - they were always really top notch, though…
Great live guitar playing... WONDERFUL rhythmic player...
Great Respekt to William Rory Gallagher!
Rory is killer on the guitar!
Thanks, Rory, for the great music!
Rest in Peace!
Roy Gallagher
The greatest of all time, rest easy Rory 🍀❤️
❤☘️
God bless him!
A True Legend and with guitar skills that will live on forever
Rory made his "custom wear vintage" strat the old way. By playing it like a madman.
Truth
Yeah,sweat damage.
I like the nasty rusty pickups.
Yes, some people's sweat is more corrosive than others.
. .that's 100% pure unadulterated , organic , heart felt ROCK N ROLL...thank you for posting this ❤️
No explosions,no strobes, just in your face RnR 😎
When it comes to no nonsense, no bullshit, flat out blues rock and roll, Rory Gallagher was the fucking master hands down.
I've watched this so many times and it always makes my heart race and puts a big fat smile on my face. WHAT a star
Ich lächle Jeden TAG !!! EVER !!!! RORY THE BEST !!! RIP
This song doesn't really have to end.
His talent remains 2nd to nobody. A genius.
He was always on fire until his health declined, and even then he still wanted to light the place up.
There are many great rock bands, Led Zep, The Who,Allman Bros etc and plenty of great guitarists- Hendrix, Nils Lofgren etc, but for sheer passion focused around one player on stage- loved by his fans for his dedication, skill and modest character, there is really only Rory.
bannork wow very well put!!!
bannork I second Jeff on your comment. Great to be here. Thanks.
I always thought Rory didn't play guitar because he wanted to Rory played guitar because he had to!
bannork Rory was Jimi Hendrix's favorite too. Jimi said so
Indeed. Rory Gallagher was the heat.
Dammit him and his band could freakin' ROCK! It is curious that 23 people could give this a "thumbs down" I feel sorry for them
They are obviously deaf and blind!
Absolutely-i've js seen him for 1st time ever+100℅ fire& passion:)
He recorded the first Taste album 50 years ago when he was 19. Check out the studio Catfish. Orange and black cover. First Metal Song EVER!
First time I ever saw him I didn't know who he was. Half way through the show I was amazed an
nd loved the man!
@@Magnetron33 no they just thought the solo should have lasted another 10 minutes!!!
I just love this guy. He makes you realise what a guitar is for!!!! I can,t keep still when he plays!!!
touched by the hand of God, and in the pantheon of Rock n Roll guitar gods, Rory is deity supreme.
He influenced a young Johnny Marr. Good enough for me!
In an era blessed by brilliance, he is my favourite
Still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck...pure magic from Rory and the band...cheers.
saw Rory in olympia theatre Dublin in the 80s absolutely superb live a true genius we lost a brilliant talent too early. his music will live on forever
I saw that show out off this world
Drums, Bass and a madly worked guitar. Has anyone ever needed anything else in music? ;-)
Rory, you'll be missed 4evah!
Great band bass and drums really compliment his playing
I was just thinking the same thing as I was listened to it !!
What a performer / player 🥰
That scream at the beginning alone does it for me
