The thing i love more about this album is that it is different from the previous ones, why people want him to sound like in un village or Bambi era, it would be boring, personally i love every song in this one and the title track is amazing, it's exactly like i accepted it to be
my thoughts exactly, i liked that he tried something new for this EP instead of going the bambi route again. it would be boring and repetitive imo. if i wanted to hear more vocal acrobatics, i'd go ahead and give the bambi EP a listen. simple as. idk why ppl expect him to come out w the same set of songs. let him explore the rnb genre fgs

Whether it's your taste or not, I love how his new album screams "Yeah, this is not SM, this is INB100" like everything sounds so new and I really like that. It's not what we are used to but it's not bad, it's just new and I think a lot of peple need time for his new sound, that's it.
this album has really great production, which FOR ME sounds more product-y than an instrumental type. also it seems like baek is trying new things especially working with his rapping, and with his lower range. excited where he is going after this, since this is just his first cb in his company.
Baekhyun has been my ult for 11 years, so I’ve been able to watch his growth as an artist in real time. I would have been disappointed if this sounded like everything he did under SM. That’s not to say I only like it on principle. I’ve listened to Pineapple Slice more than I had his other title tracks at this point in the comeback and I’ve been listening to the whole album nonstop. I’m not too crazy about Rendez-Vous, but that’s not about Baekhyun, I’m just not a big fan of the bossa nova sound. Truth be Told has an experimental edge that has been missing from his work until now; it needed to grow on me, but it got there. Woo was similar but it is was a beautiful song right out of the gate. I love the way he uses his lower range more than usual in Cold Heart, which is a very beautiful song. He made a lot of different stylistic choices on this album, some riskier than others, but quite successfully overall. Is this his best album? Probably not. But it is his most interesting by far and it, more than any other, makes me excited to see what he does next.
Exactly! I think, for me, what I love is the journey of growth. It's his first time out on his own. He probably has to work with new producers who aren't as familiar with him from SM. He took risks, tried new things, and I am satisfied with that. We all know he is talented and very capable. I hope he continues to find himself and happiness. 🙏🏽

I guessed you wouldn't be very fond of this comeback, because I absolutely loved it. And if experience has taught me anything, it's that we have completely opposite tastes in music.
Just yesterday, I was looking through your personal album ranking, and for the life of me, I can't ever listen to the ones with the highest tier more than once or I'd bash my head against the wall!

I find out that many people waited this album to be like Bambi or City lights, but every o them had their own objetive, as an example Bambi was focused mostly on vocals, here he was focused on versatility, adapting his voice to different genres and r&b branches, even rapping with his own tone and style. Ofc we had a really big expectative because of his previous album, but if he continues to use his voice as usual, then we will not be that surprised as we was in the fisrt time.
There's also the fact that we all have different taste, we don't like exactly rhe same things. Honestly I really liked every single song, I love the way he varies his way of singing for each song. And obviously we can't wait for everyone to like it, it's fine. Thanks for the video

I admit that I like his b-sides from previous albums more, but Pineapple Slice ATEEE! I even think it's so much better than other title track, even the MV was wayy so much better.

@@NJM-DZ Yes ofc he is! I've just never seen a reactor skip a song before. That was kind of a surprise to me... not the opinion of the song itself. I hope my disappointment in the manner the reaction was conducted didn't come across as an attack

I love this album its very different for Baekhyun but also the same songs like good morning and rendezvous are very him. Truth Be Told, Coldhearted are different pineapple slice too. Woo is closer to the type of R&B he does anyways.
Thanks for giving Baekhyun a listen and a chance! That's the beauty in the freedom of music and expression. Every person has their own preference and experiences that influence his/her perspectives. We may not always vibe with the artist's creation and that's totally okay. The point is we listened and were open to exploring what they wanted to share with us. I love Baekhyun and respect his talent and efforts. I did enjoy his album. But I admit, this one does not beat his previous work for me. But the more I listen, this album does grow on me. I appreciate your thoughtful criticism. It's always insightful and well explained. I look forward to your future reactions/reviews.

I see your point, for me Cold heart was my jam and the rest is on the okay side for me, but the vocals? Man I can listen to him forever no matter the genre of the song
He worked so hard on this listening to this comment might help him. Otherwise he dosent have to stress himself so much bec he is already so good and the song too compare to other solo releases he is by far better than all of them.
This album is definitely 10/10 for me,
I also feel like the album lacks exiting songs, most were nice but just that. It's baekhyun so he will always sound good but my bar for him was too high. This album as a whole doesn't even come close to the others for me, but I'm a R&B lover at my core.
(also because of how close the releases were, I can't help but to compare it to jaehyun and well his was overall better imo)

I feel like for this album he wanted to try something new which is why there’s different genres in the album (he even rapped in some songs). A lot of ppl expected him to release a bunch of VOCAL focussed songs which is why I get the disappointment. This is still my second fav album of his (NOTHING IS TOPPING QUEEN BAMBI), like every single song is so good to me. Also this album is different than his other albums because he’s independent now. He probably didn’t want to repeat his style and songs that he did with SM. It’s supposed to show us a new baekhyun.
None of his albums have surpassed his debut album for me. That was a 10/10...I did like this one tho nothing really stood except for pineapple slice and cold heart
As a fan of NeoSoul, "Good Morning"? Good nap. Song needs a better bassline (y'all need hang back and GROOVE), and subtly escalate either in the instrumental or the vocal. Baekhyun's talent is in never in question, love to see him try different styles, but this and Rendez-vous aren't particularly good examples of either genre. He deserves better.

The album was fine, but… idk. It felt safe? And maybe that’s just because everything else he was done felt so… big? Idk if that’s the word I’m looking for. Like… maybe I kind of hoped he’d really do something different? Like I wasn’t a huge fan of Taemin’s latest, but I had to give him props for doing something a bit different… but this felt a bit to safe for what I think Baekhyun is capable of.
I’m not giving up, tho! Still looking forward to his next album.

Not my fave CB as well. My favorite album is still City Lights. Every track from it is on my playlist. My favorites from the recent release are Pineapple Slice and Rendezvous and the rest are okay. His vocals are sexy as hell.

Oh finally someone who also is not "in love" with Good Morning and Rendez-vous. Ngl even the refrain in Woo kinda felt very repetitive (in a at the end grating way). Baek always delivers vocals, but somehow this time, the songs felt as if they did not go anywhere.
Besides pineapple slice and cold heart (and perhaaaps truth be told) none have been non-skippable to me. And cold heart is mostly a "need to be in the mood" song with more an electric guitar saving it

I have always adored baekhyun albums and i do like this one too because tbh his voice just does it for me. But i have to say it stood out less than others to me. I'm actually obsessed with pineapple slice and like a lot randezvous and cold heart but the others were just not that much exciting? Like not bad in the sense that if they came up i would probably listen even just for his voice. But the songs itself are not particularly remarkable. I'm surprised you didn't like much randezvous though!!!

I get your reaction to Rendez-Vous. I think it is my least favorite of the album. Somehow, I had the same feeling about Love Again and most of his collabs with Colde. They are always my least favorites of the album, but seem to be quite popular in Korea.

@Koko3op Good Morning seemed the most nasally to me, but after listening back to songs like Love Again, I think maybe it's just the vocal effect(?) that makes it sound muffled cuz he's still singing the same idk. I felt the same about the verses and pre-chorus of Pineapple Slice, but I loved how he sounded in his performances like the one at Music Bank specifically. I COULD be trippin tho. Cold Heart and the songs after sounded fine. I'm more used to his vocals from the Bambi album. Sorry, no hate btw!! My fav songs were pineapple slice, cold heart, and truth be told, lol.
i feel that too! to me he sounds more nasal and muffled, also his Ss sound different and somewhat lispy, i just thought maybe it was lousier recording mics compared to the ones at SM 😂
@@JoJo-bv7nlI don’t think it was a mistake tbh probably intentional. He spent more time refining and recording this album than any other album he said, he wanted it to sound that way.
