Well the grass is so green
_On the other side of town_
And the kids are so mean
_When there ain't no one around_
_Cause I need some kind of way to make it right_
And now I see, that it won't happen overnight
*Is a dollar and a dream all they really got for me?*
_Well how much can I take?_
Well I can’t take no more
_Gonna hold myself up_
And I walk out the door
_So tell me, why I get no sleep at night_
And now I see, all that something just ain’t right
*Is a dollar and a dream all they really got for me?*
You can tell me, *tell me something I don’t know*
Oh tell me, *tell me something I don’t know*
Yeah tell me, *tell me something I don’t know*
Make it fast, so I can go
Oh tell me, tell me something I don’t know
What do you think of me now?
_Do I seem out of place?_
Did it hurt in my eyes?
_Leave a stain on your face?_
_Cause I need, some kind of way to make it right_
And now I see, that it won’t happen overnight
*Is a dollar and a dream all they really got for me?*
You can tell me, *tell me something I don’t know*
Yeah tell me, *tell me something I don’t know*
Yeah tell me, *tell me something I don’t know*
Make it good, so I can go
Oh tell me, tell me something I don’t know
You can tell me, *tell me something I don’t know*
Yeah tell me, *tell me something I don’t know*
Yeah tell me, *tell me something I don’t know*
Yeah tell me, *tell me something I don’t know*
Yeah tell me...
You made me the happiest girl today! Thank you! I'm from Buffalo and probably one of the biggest Goo Goo Doll fans anyone could meet. You have no idea how thrilled hearing oldschool demo tracks from them makes me!
I don't know about nowadays, but the 1992-1995 Goo Goo Dolls era was better than the Replacements 1985-1990 era... It was like the Goo Goo Dolls took over from when the Replacements left off..
KTVBOSTON I don't know about that. They were both great in their own ways!
I hear what you are saying but I have to agree with others...there is a difference but obviously they scratch the same itch! Where they stand out for me is in the vocal trading of Robby and Johnny! Hold Me Up is special for me for that reason. I just really miss this era of power pop.
Hold Me Up through A Boy Named Goo is about as perfect a punky power-pop songwriting streak as you can ever see
Man this is the good shit, old school Goo.
Awesome! Thank you so much for posting! There's apparently a bunch of demos or alternate versions of songs I've never heard before. I love Goo Goo Dolls! They're such an amazing band and this rocks! I love all of their albums, but "Hold Me Up" and "Superstar Car Wash" are my favorites. Anyhow, I love B-sides from my fave bands! Thanks again! =)
Once again, fucking amazing, I just love the Goos so much. Wish there were a way to get a CD of all their unreleased tracks, past and present.
This is a great tune! album material. wonder what happened.
awesomeness!!!!!! * infinity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nuff said.
Wow, this is so cool and soooo different from what ended up on the album. I wish they still wrote songs like they did for this album. Thanks for posting this vid!
