Blaster Master fun fact: the story about the frog and the boy were invented just for the western release. The original Japanese version did not have that intro, and it had another sci-fi story. Looking forward to games like Gimmick mostly for the amazing music.
I think atomic waste in the backyard is an awesome plot! And yeah, Sunsoft hired some serious talent for music during the later 8-bit years (Arabian is before their prime ;) I think Gremlins 2 is less hard than these games, but we’ll never see that or Batman. I honestly haven’t finished any Sunsoft games, but I’ve come far in Gremlins 2, Journey to Silius and Batman. I hope there can be a part 2 with Ufouria, and maybe Sunman as unlockable!
Great video as always :-) A couple of these games are already included with the Nintendo Switch Online subscription, so if I want to torture myself, I'll just play them there, lol. Keep up the awesome work!
Looking forward to ordering this most out of the fall line-up. I have nostalgia for Blaster Master but have never played Silius or Gimmick. IMO what Evercade does best…multiple games on a cart from smaller publishers that have nostalgia and hidden gems. This and indie dual carts of modern, retro-inspired fare. Thanks for the video!
Yeah I agree with that, I love discovering games I never played before. Usually in the hope of finding a hidden gem we mightve missed. I'm sure you'll enjoy this cart since you have nostalgia for Blaster Master.
Sunsoft games are as good as their soundtracks, if not better. On Journey to Silius' title screen press the B button exactly 33 times, then press Start button. If you did it correctly, instead of hearing an explosion you'll go to a hidden options menu where you can choose up to 9 continues. It works on the NES, so I think it would do the same also on Evercade, yeah!
I can see a volume 2 coming, with games like Madoola, Hebereke, one or even the three remaining Blaster Masters, maybe the fixed Euro version of Fester's Quest and, it the reception is good and there are no legal trouble, Aero 2. Kangaroo would be a tough thing to get since the console versions were made by Atari and it has parted ways with Blaze. Batman, Gremlins 2 and the Looney Tunes games are a huge No-No, Warner ain't gonna accept pennies for their licenses and who knows who inherited the ROMs from Acclaim, the ones that got the American-ordered Sunsoft WB games. What I don't see happening is a Sunsoft Arcade Collection, unless you are dying to play the original Arabian, Ikki and Route-16, there's not much from Sunsoft on the arcades. There are some games like Tough Turf and Bay Route but who knows how much those belong to Sega or if Sunsoft owns them fully... Yes, I know about the other three, but there are many problems. First, you need the license for the BIOS ROMs of the systems those games run on, from Sega and SNK. The other is how much the Evercade is said to struggle running Neo Geo games. Make it an EXP exclusive just for 2 games? I don't think so. And... well, you know how bad the Saturn emulation is now and how much power you need to get the emulation that works to be playable.
Okay, so Blaster Master Boy is a sequel to Robowarrior (Bomber King in Japan). No wonder it looked to similar... I'm sure to get this collection, but after I played Blaster Master as a kid and never got past the level 5 boss before the continues ran out, I'm fine with Blaster Master Zero on other platforms. I don't think I got past the start of level 2 in Silius, but maybe this time I will. Aero, I don't think I ever played it back then. Curious to try it out. Arabian... looks like grabbing onto vines is tricky. Gimmick, possibly never heard of it before this collection.
@@CrazyBurger Watching it was painful, too. I don't use savestates except for carrying over between sessions, so I don't think I'll get anywhere as far now.
I haven't been able to figure out if I actually like Aero the Acrobat for 30 years now. On one hand it is a good platformer, lots of technique and skill is required to play it well, and the level design forces you to get really good at the jump mechanics by the end. I remember being super satisfied when I beat the last boss as a little kid. On the other hand the whole game has that weird "meh" feeling to it like Bubsy and Zool where the levels feel kind of overly long and overstay their welcome.
@@CrazyBurger I like to think I draw the line at trying to climb those carpets in Arabian, but I know the second there's a high score challenge I'll be right back at it.
Mine arrives today. Super excited for it. I think Sunsoft coming to EC is a bigger deal than a lot of their other announcements this year.
It's definitely interesting, I've heard a lot of folks saying the same thing.

Yeah I've just been told that this morning. Story is still daft. These games certainly have 2 things in common. Great music and hard as nails

Cheers GG!

😂 lol cheers mate, appreciate the supports as always.
The cart is worth it for the obscure Mr. Gimmick alone. It’s one of the game’s first official releases in the West.
Great soundtrack.. what a tough game though.
My only real gripe with evercade is the cartridges need a few more games on tbh. Early carts had much more games on them.
Inflation coupled with the rising popularity of the platform contributes to that.

Oh good shout. I'll be needing those! Cheers.
The secret screen also has a sound test, in case you wanna jam out to the game’s rockin’ tunes!!!!
They should make an expansion pack that includes Wing of Madoola for the Famicom, and maybe a few arcade titles like Kangaroo and Arabian.
I enjoyed a bit of Kangaroo on the Atari 2600.. Happy memories.

Im really enjoying this cartridge but the games are solid and require multiple saves per level , is Aero the Acrobat Megadrive or snes version?
I think it's the snes version

Save states will certainly help you get further.. also glad you noticed the issue in Arabian.. grabbing on to vines is painful..

Now if only they'd put out an official release of Sunman...
Lol I see it was never actually released. Probably can see why..
@@CrazyBurger - It was going to be a Superman game, but they lost the license...so they were going to do a Journey to Silius with it, but didn't.

You've summed that up perfectly
I was looking forward to this cart, but you are right, Crazy - WAY too hard games. I already want to turn around and sell this on EBay. 🤮
Yep it's a toughie.. I'm too old for hard games. Give me easy mode lol
@@CrazyBurger I agree. Im 51, and still like a challenging game, but not brutally difficult.
So when can we see the Delphine collection?
Soon. Hopefully Through the week.. at the Expo in Blackpool today.. new Evercade stuff playable..
Confirmed sicko reporting in and loving Mr. Gimmick 🫡
Oft you must love the pain and torture.
