Seeing Alfonso play Carlton here and then Maxwell later shows he can do different characters Maxwell is definitely more serious yet aloof than Carlton.

Another thing worth pointing out is that Debbie Allen in this show directed several episodes of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air. That's one of the perks in working for Quincy Jones.
They’ve been friends for a long time; she wanted Quincy to create a show that will suit her character of an independent hard working responsible woman; I guess she didn’t like the direction the show was taking after a while, she then exited.

This is why the show didn’t really take off, this was an example of the show being a fresh prince spinoff, everyone was just waiting for Will to pop up
Xavier Stamp What are you talking about? This show wasn't a Fresh Prince spin off. This show had nothing to do with Fresh Prince minus this one crossover episode. And what you mean this show didn't take off? It lasted 5 seasons. 5 seasons is good for any show.
Actually the show was written for Will Smith and Carlton Banks. Will just rejected the part and started concentrating on his movie career. The show was suppose to work with Will, Carlton and Ashley living together with Carlton becoming the doctor and Will being the injured athlete caring for Ashley. But as mentioned before Will wanted nothing to do with this spinoff so they made some minor changes with the story line and characters using LL and Mia instead.
