Thank you Michael for the brilliant ideas! Being hopeless old- fashioned, I enjoy watching TCM movies, sitcoms including Leave it to Beaver and Family Affairs. Plus, I practise speaking English with my Canadian- born son on a daily basis. As for writing, I often write my comments in English as I have trouble writing Chinese by my cell phone. John Grisham and Mitch Albom are my most favorite authors.

Leave it to Beaver? wow...if you want to get really old fashioned, go to the Internet Archive. They have the old radio episodes of that and Father Knows Best

I think your recommendations are easy to follow than people on the social media they just try to fool you telling yes you can speak English in 24 hrs or you want to speak like a native person! I would suggest listening to your favourite songs and try to understand the lyrics and write them down. Later check out the lyrics in the internet and see if you understand everything right. Unfortunate today songs are harder to understand in comparison with songs from the 60's or 70's, very often the singers' pronunciation is not very clear or they use a lot of slang, but anyway it is still a good exercise.
