Nice tie Levi! I typically use white thread instead of the mono. That way the body and wing stay bright like it does with your mono thread, whereas olive, brown, or black would darken the body.
I like that color combo. Gonna tie a couple in that dress and try down in Florida Southwest. I have to admit, I never thought of using Ostrich Herl in the Chartreuse color. Makes so much sense once you see it. I always used dark Herl to top off, but never in Chartreuse as an intermediate color. Opens up many possibilities. Love it man! By the way, killer website.
I have a full dress Clouser tied by him, witha signed card, in a shadow box above my tying desk. Bob Clouser and I belong to the same Flyfishing club. Bob's take is sprse gives the profile that fish react to. I've tied some from this video as well as Bob's style. Thanks.
Thanks for a great video. Please provide a better color of Polar Flash, as Sea Foam does not show up any where. Thanks for your help. I would like to tie up a few before my trip to Portland in October.
Never thought of using Ostrich Herl for that wing because it is such a fragile material. Should move much better of course, but how does it hold up to being eaten by big and sometimes toothy fish? That was always one of the nice things about the Clouser - it was a super durable fly.
Great looking fly, going to tie some. Though, for "full dress", I would say it needs at least a peacock topping, of if all your batifish aren't built like snakes, two swords for topping.
Thanks for the video! Quick question from a "new(er) guy": Is this a pattern where "less is more"? I tied 4 last night... my first 4....and I think even tho I'm trying to not put on too much...they look bulky! Thanks

Thanks for sharing this. Easy to see where the pattern's lifelike movement is greatly enhanced with the ostrich herl.
Absolutely
Nice tye Eli

Nice fly … get yourself a clouser head for that vice, the straight line is great for tying salt flies
Thanks for watching
