I'm glad to see you back in the shop Chris! I hope you'll take us on your Uke building experience. BTW, I'm glad you're putting your DIY books to good use! 😀😀
Thanks Jim! I‘ve been anticipating getting more active on this RUclips channel again ever since I had to back off due to my twins being born. Good to be ramping back up. Thanks for watching and commenting!
nice video looking to make some of these on the cheap- use cast off stuff around home - something from almost nothing may make spools from.plywood with a hole saw - have an old leather jacket to cut up instead of cork
It was 1/4“ bolts. 1/4“ drill bit. Get 8“ long carriage bolts if you can. 6“ was the longest Home Depot had. As I explained in the video, the dowel parts take up 2“ of each carriage bolt. Another option is to just cut the dowel parts thinner, like 5/8“ or 3/4“ instead of 1“.
It really may even be better to drill slightly off center. Also some vinyl tubing on the bolts to keep from scratching the guitar/uke. I'm making some to glue the back on an old guitar I am restoring. Thanks
A simple project, but you shared some really helpful tips I didn't think of so thanks.

Looking forward to seeing your uke and guitar projects!
Thanks Edgar! Me too!
I am just in the process of building my first guitar. This is a brilliant idea!!
Thanks for watching!
I made a pile of these when I had to start repairing violins and cellos. A real money saver!
For sure! I just couldn‘t believe how much they cost to buy them online. Thanks for watching!

Nice! The stuff you have lying around would definitely work.
I also made this at home 15 mm spool, I think 3/4 or 15 mm wood dowel is ok and you will have enough space to clamp full size guitar.
What size drill bit did you use? Carriage bolts same diameter?

Yeah, an off center hole does kinda make sense!
