this reminds me of WW2 raging and we were just glad to be alive with so many off to war. Everyone was on edge and you could not get any info about what was happening. Those were hollow Christmases but we had our priorities in the right place with pretty good leaders. Christmas gave everyone a bit of relief even though I was a small child then. Since then I too have been to war and again wondering about life because of lousy so called leaders! Merry Christmas.

Some are reminded of their older relative that fought in war or kept the home fires burning...my grandparents/ parents were farmers during the last of those yrs and they said they were needed at home, but they did their part rationing and such...grands gone in late 60s early 70s ...dad gone in mid2000s and mom this yr...they dont make em like that anymore...knew how to survive without electricity...❤😊
I really like this kind of music! Some of it I listened to with my parents. Now it's with my husband as we are empty nesters. I am knitting scarves for a charity my daughter' s church gives warm hats and scarves to at the end of the year. Merry Christmas!

Nothing like big band Christmas music
One of the pictures here reminded me of a distant memory. I was a child and I remember going with a group of families caroling to various houses at night. There was no fear in the night, and people greeted us at the door cordially and happily. Afterwards, I think there was hot chocolate in the church basement and I remember the adults lingering in conversation and chatting happily.❄️☕

This hit the spot for me, FINALLY. I love the old fashioned sound of Christmas. I grew up in an age of when the new Christmas was coming on the scene. It always left me cold. This stuff is what it's about.

I remember listening to all these even before the songs were written and the albums launched. That was in 1905. Glad to be alive and kicking now. Merry Christmas dear ones.

Is it my imagination, or is this rendition of The Chrismas Song sung by Nat King a different one than what we hear on the radio all the time? It just seemed so much warmer and more personal that what we hear on the radio. Thank you for making this compilation.
Yes it is a different one. This is the King Cole Trio version. Nat liked the orchestra version more so he released that one. This one is more cozy and simple, but I have to admit I like the orchestra version slightly more.
Nat Cole is my favorite singer of all time! And I was born in the late 1950's!

Does anyone here remember Gimbels? I remember as a child seeing all the women's clothes hanging so high. I must have been just a little girl. I think I tried to try on a pair of real leather women's gloves. Probably Mom and Grandma told me to put them down, not to touch. Decorations for Christmas I remember were not flashy electric like now. There were some different colored giant ornaments placed up high on shelves. I remember Grandma wearing golashes pulled over her healed shoes for the snow? Thank you, Tristan, for the photos here and memories!!!
