I got a halo bassinet, boppy lounger and lounger/rocker for free on marketplace! Everything looked new! Ladies, try to get stuff free before buying anything if you are on a budget! I even got 55 new cloth diapers with inserts for free! I can’t think of anything I’ve bought new full price. I even got a uppababy stroller like new for $20!!! Perfect condition! Love the reviews. If you live where it’s cold 8 months out of the year get the wipe warmer!
The only thing I agree on is the fact that my son didn’t enjoy the bouncer, so I could’ve gone without that. Oh, & I love the dockatot. I don’t have an opinion on the graco or the bumbo (don’t have those). But everything else I felt the opposite with. Love the halo bassinet, the Boppy lounger is probably my all time favorite newborn item (helped a ton with reflux), & I loved having a sterilizer & bottle warmer. I have an upstairs, so my sterilizer/bottle warmer was upstairs with me. We have a brand new house & used one of the double sinks as a washing station, so I had a mini fridge, sterilizer, & bottle warmer upstairs in my master bedroom with me. It was a lifesaver. I also despise the original Boppy pillow. It really goes to show the not only are parents’ preferences different, but also our babies are different.
Don't bother buying the Halo Bassinet new. They are always being posted for sale on community Facebook pages at WAY less cost. The one I purchased was under $80 is in very good condition with all working features. These are only used for a few months and are then sold to recoup a few dollars.
The halo bassinet was a life saver for me. The swivel design and easy push down sides. I had a c-section and was breast feeding so it all depends on your own needs but was a must have for my situation.
Lots of moms say it’s a must for them! 😊 I’m glad it works for some moms. I failed to mention that I did love the retractable siding feature for picking my son up out of the basket. But overall, it was a no for me.
I loved my Halo I used my Docatot with it and my baby loved it. I agree the panel does stuck the life out of your battery's... I wish I would have just purchased the basic model.
I just wanted to add that the recommendation for blankets for sleep has been moved closer to 2. However, there are sleep sacks you can use to keep them warm. You can buy them sleeveless or long sleeve, thin and thick!
Agree with everything! Mittens, hats, and wipe warmers were all unnecessary for me! Hats we used if we were going outside in cooler weather but that was not often enough to have so many and most sleepers have fold overs to cover their hands now so mittens aren't needed. The wipe warmer would dry out the wipes so quickly, I hated it!
I have the same graco pack and play and it was great for me too, I still use the base all the time. The new model is way much better since the bassinet doesn’t incline, you can use it through the night and last more (from 15 lbs to 20 lbs). Actually, the old bassinet model currently has a recall because of the recline.
I saw the recall announcement but am still likely going to use it for my next baby. As long as you use the incline at an age appropriate time and strap them in, I don’t see the issue. We used it SO much with my son. The incline is what made it so great for us so he could see what was going on around him.
We never used swaddles or pacifiers or bibs lol. Every baby is different so it's so hard to be prepared for everything but also not have too many things. We used the Boppy lounger all day every day for months so that was a must have for us. Also got like 10 handmade blankets at our baby shower and I've used like two of them once or twice. Excited for this fall when he'll be 18 months and can sleep with a pillow and blanket.
You’re so right! I watched SO many videos like this and others recommending products trying to prepare for my baby to arrive. I felt so prepared when he was born yet I kept finding other things that we needed LOL. These are just the products that didn’t work for us but it’s possible that my next baby will love them. Who knows! Also, the baby blankets 😳
I second every single item. The Halo also tips if baby is not perfectly centered. They’re top heavy as newborns and the halo tips just enough for my baby to have projectile vomiting. The pillows all were a waste. The boppy seat thing omg. The worst.
You just confirmed everything I was thinking about the Halo bassinet. I had it on my registry and just took it off a little while ago because I was worried someone would buy it for me and I would hate it. Now looking for another option to put on my registry. Thanks for the in depth review !
We could see the base being a huge problem, it's like a giant version of a standing fan with the 'X' meaning multi directional tripping hazards. This was just from the photos and videos we'd seen, then seeing it in the flesh was the confirmation it just wouldn't work in our bedroom (let alone fit through the door when we wanted to move our baby into the lounge). We went with the Halo Glide Bassinest, the legs slide right under the bed and out of the way and let the Moses basket nestle right up to the bed. We're still a couple of weeks off our due date but excited to try it out, would highly recommend it in terms of a space saver though!
My mattress 1000% effects my sleep so why would it not effect a babies sleep. I remember when my niece was born there was safely concerns about the bumbo. Wash cloths can be used as cloth wipes.
I agree with EVERYTHING exept the bouncer. I’m from Europe and don’t know if they have Babybjörn (not the doll but the babybrand) in the USA but it’s the BEST bouncer in my eyes. Simpel, compact and lightweigth. We bought a play arch (not from babybjörn) and my boys LOVED it! My MIL is a daycare worker and they also love it very much!! It’s been used for +20 babies, almost 10 years old and still going strong. Highly recommended!
I agree with everything you said about the halo bassinet!! I thought I was the only person who thought all these things about it since it’s so popular! It was given to me by a friend so I used it but for my next child Im going to Register for a different one. Anyone have recommendations?
Honestly if you have the space in your room, a pack n play would Work great! And since they are bigger then a bassinet, baby can use it and sleep in your room longer.
Our options were either rent the Snoo (much more affordable) or the 4moms and we went the the 4moms! Haven’t used it yet but it seems like a great option. I saw the halo and didn’t love it for the reasons she spoke about
I love having extra wash clothes because i use them for own personal use. In the shower, to clean like dusting or whipping off surfaces, face towel, hand towel. I never have to time or energy for doing laundry as well lol
Babies are all so different!! For all four of mine, we used the heck out of the bouncers. In the kitchen, while we were eating ... with my first if he wasn't sleeping I would put him in it while I took a shower. Socks are funny. I go through a lot now because they're teething and pull them off and chew on them!! There is a good chunk of time in toddlerhood when you cannot get them to keep them on at all! Lol. And I use my "extra" washcloths to clean them up after eating. It works so much better than a wipe or paper towel.
I think socks are also a ‘time of year’ type of thing. Since wits summer right now we aren’t wearing many socks. But I could totally see my baby pulling them off and chewing on them now that he is in the thick of teething!
That's so funny, I don't know what I would do without the boppy lounger lol, my little girl hates being laid down flat- so the Dockatot is useless. She loves being semi propped up in the boppy lounger, she loves to nap in it- it's a life saver sometimes. We also have the comfy bumpy bouncer, and she loves that too. Again, I think because she can be propped up and looking at things. What I regret is having so many hooded baby towels, we have stopped using them and switched to our regular towels. But we are using the baby towels basically as giant burp cloths now lol
OMG yes agreed on the hooded towels 🤦🏼♀️ we had way way too many of those and they are too small once your baby hits like 6 months. Copper Pearl and Pottery Barn have hooded towels that are much bigger. We use the Copper Pearl ones on my 18 month old now and they is still room to grow into. But I totally agree that regular Towels would also do the trick.
Washcloths - doing research for a baby gift, ironic how us old school parents thought sterilizing was pretty much non negotiable, and we' were a little more strict about cleanliness - never wash a bum with a disposable wipe (we said if you wouldn't kiss it, it wasn't clean) so we'd washcloths in different colours that were exclusive for diapers, bathtime, and washing their hands and face before removing them from the high chair (god forbid people use their kitchen cloth!? )
I thought for sure I would find use for all these extra tiny baby wash cloths, but nope. We have kitchen grade towels for meal clean up and use disposable wipes for diaper changes.
That’s so weird lol I loved most of the items you mentioned! Especially the boppy lounger. But I can agree that we would have used the doc a tot more if we had it!
You’ll want those wash cloths when he is older! We keep a stack in the kitchen and use them to clean up my daughter’s face and hands after meals. They get so gross that I usually use a new one for the next meal.
To a certain extent I agree. I think parents should have and use whatever they feel necessary. I liked having Something handy and accessible in most of the rooms I spent a lot of time in - upstairs and down.
@@melsmakeup88 Definitely up to the parents. I think something like a simple bouncer is great if your baby has colic or for when all they want is to see what everyone is doing. And for things like taking a shower or cooking by the stove when you can't wear them. But other than that, a blanket or mat on the floor works great and allows them that freedom of movement that they need. That's why I said only one, you can move it when you need it but there is always floor available and blankets end up in most of the rooms any how.
I totally regret buying my Ubbi diaper pail . It got so many great reviews But I hate it every time you open it to put a diaper in The smell just hit you like a brick wall and lingers in the house. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and for my next baby I'm going to get a different diaper pail
Luckily I was warned this by a co worker! I was super set on getting it, I mean who isn’t? It’s so hyped up, they look cool, they are the ‘fanciest’ on the market. But she was like ‘Listen, this thing stinks like no other and you can’t get the smell out no matter what you do’ 😂😂😂 We have the munchkin one and I love it!
@@melsmakeup88 ok I will try the one that you got. Cuz I need something else. That was one of the ones I was thinking about getting. It looks like a good one.
I think I could actually use a few more blankets… My mom’s dog keeps stealing them and she has 3 blankets of her own! We think she wants the baby to smell like her. She LOVES babies… And the washcloths are useful for so much more than just bathtime. We keep them in our diaper bag for small spitups, and my poor girl had a clogged tear duct and I was having to do warm compresses on her eye multiple times a day, and we didn’t want to use the same washcloth every time because of bacteria buildup that would occur on a wet washcloth that is just sitting around. I am grateful for my abundance of washcloths…
I hate my halo bassinet!!! I trip and stubbed my toe, it’s HELLA noisy every single movement she made sooooo much noise. She was always squished up and to the left of the bassinet I never thought If that thing was off leveled! Now I’m her cringe she doesn’t do that and I never made that connection! I hate how many baby blankets I have. I have one in my rocker, I have one in the living room to cuddle. We didn’t swaddle, she didn’t care for it she liked being free more so. I have a lot of wash cloths and really I use the same wash cloth for a few baths. I never got the boppy I got a lounger similar to the doc a tot cause I didn’t wanna spend the money on that. I don’t like my bouncer I got that same fisher price one, she liked it enough but after 2.5 months her feet were on the edge and it’s hard, not plush so I felt like it wasn’t comfortable anymore. I love my bottle sterilizer and dryer, I would use it every single day not I use it twice a week. My baby only drinks warm or room temp milk she won’t take it cold which sucks. My baby never wears socks I don’t have that many, I actually bought some because my mom was so offended I had no baby socks lol. I wonder what bassinet I should get next time, my halo one was gifted from a friend and I hate it so much. I was thinking next time put a pack n play in my room or the crib. It would take some re arranging but bassinet sucked so much for me.
I wish I had a penny for every baby sock that went missing. Having our third in July and will not buy any socks. They get lost and don't stay on my babies. Mittens are just as bad too.
Exactly! But I have now learned to buy identical socks so that I don't go crazy when I lose one cos I can still pair it up with whatever is in her drawer.
@@ouanocj That's pretty smart! I'm pregnant with my third and not even bothering with socks this time. The live in sleepers for the first few months anyway.
I’m gonna be a first time mom next month and I’m totally clueless about what baby needs and what she doesn’t need but if you don’t mind, please please donate me what you don’t need or aren’t going to use I’d really appreciate it😍
First of all, congrats mama! This is such an exciting time! Second of all, you can’t just go around asking strangers on the internet to give you their baby items. I would highly recommend shopping around at second hand baby places like Kid to Kid or Once Upon a Child. Places like Facebook Marketplace will also have really good deals and handouts. Good luck and best wishes to you and your new little family.
@@melsmakeup88 The twin sized. It did have a huge base but it didn't take up anymore room than two bassinets would. We did run into a problem when they got to 2.5 months where they would pound their legs against the bassinet as hard as they could and wake their twin up but they rolled soon after and needed to be in a crib anyway. The mesh around all sides was nice because they enjoyed looking at us while we laid in bed next to them. The sides didn't go down easy as advertised but after having twins the reality was pushing that down even if it was super easy would have taken too much strength while recovering from a twin pregnancy.
@@c457jajsudbe my daughter is expecting twins in November. I can't find measurements for the twin Halo bassinet. Not even on their site..do you know the width?

@@melsmakeup88 babies will definitely be healthy and happy.. 💖💖 What i am trying to say that i prefer using machines alot for some reason just throw everything in it and work is done. For instance, in my country and then in city, the use of a dishwasher is a taboo!! And i use it. So i get sooo many comments by people that no use of this, you are wasting water, or hire a help, the concept of hiring helps is very common in my country. But i donot have a help so i just throw does dishes into the washer and let them wash and dry. Oh yes, and they also comment that i am wasting power and water on dishwasher and washing by hand ✋ is alot easier. But it's not easy for me 😢
First mom here, I just want to know why we now have to spend so much money to make the baby feel like they are still in the stomach? Vibration and all the other stuff. Isn't it better to allow the baby to get used to the new life in health?
The main difference is nowadays mommies dont stay home with their child for long, but going back to work, so you try everything to make this transition easier. I bought an expensive carrier as we have a 3 floor townhouse and I had so much things to do. It was the best purchase I ever made😂 I also needed a swing so she can sleep/play in it in the kitchen while im cooking as her bedroom is on the 3rd floor and kitchen is on the ground floor. My mom had 3 years maternity leave, I only have 1 year (of which 4 months are unpaid) so its a bit different nowadays. I know it the US its even worse😐 I think thats why companies come up with all these “magic” gadgets

I haven’t tried that one! Looks nice though :-)
Thank you for the great insight!!!
I didnt even dare put a baby blanket on my registry someone is bound to get one anyway 🤣
LOL! So true!
The halo bassinet is great for twins but I don't see the point of the single baby version. It was huge but everything is when you have twins.
Did you use the regular Halo or the twin sized Halo? I’d be curious to know how similar they are and if the twin one has the same issues.
Lincoln did the leg slam thing also around 2.5 months. It was so loud! I can only imagine twins 😂
@@c457jajsudbe my daughter is expecting twins in November. I can't find measurements for the twin Halo bassinet. Not even on their site..do you know the width?
$1000-$1500 that snoo better tuck me and my baby in and rock us back to sleep together. So crazy man to each their own but wow.
And my six month old baby is in 12-24 month socks
I would never pay or even have someone spend that much for a baby bed ....come on
Sterlizer and bottle warmers are very important.
Steriliser yes, bottle warmer meh. Bowl of warm water does the same thing
@@dobbysshoes4924 yes but who has time to boil water separately and then add a bottle to it. Besides, maintaining a perfect temperature is another issue
For some people, yes. I used neither and me and my baby are healthy and happy 😊
@@melsmakeup88 babies will definitely be healthy and happy.. 💖💖
What i am trying to say that i prefer using machines alot for some reason just throw everything in it and work is done. But it's not easy for me 😢
Those are the the old models thoooo
Which one? The Halo?
First mom here, I just want to know why we now have to spend so much money to make the baby feel like they are still in the stomach? Vibration and all the other stuff. Isn't it better to allow the baby to get used to the new life in health?
A lot of sleep specialists would agree with you :-) the book Baby Wise focuses a lot on that exact premise.
I'm baby shopping now adays. And u bought alot of things!!! I'm not gona buy these anyways 😅
Happy Shopping!
You’re hurting my head.
