In as much as I condemn the killing of Soldiers or anybody for that matter, am wondering why the Army High Commission will always come strong whenever Soldiers are killed in the South East or South South but when it happens in other zones you wouldn't hear them utter a word. In this same country we have heared how a battalion of Soldiers are massacred in the North and you never see the Army come hard on the people there, neither have you seen them burn down the houses of the entire village. Nigeria we hail thee.

How l wished some Nigerians would come to the U.S. and see how the U.S. armed forces are highly respected here. You can't walk by a soldier here without greeting you. The Nigerian army must also learn to respect the civilians. The army must also work within the Nigerian laws and constitution. How the hell can a Major General publicly say they're going to retaliate? If a general in the armed forces here utter such a threat here. The General will face a reprimand and might even lose his rank. This is why senior officers in Nigeria must have a degree. A 1st/2nd Leutanant here must have a Bachelors degree, Brigadier General, and upwards must have a minimum of Graduate/Post Graduate degrees. And must have their thesis based armed forces doctrines.

Here in Nigeria soldiers behave like they're the boss, no respect and regards for the civilians but the political class, except few of them I've seen in rare occasions but many of them are not well trained, they forget that these civilians work hard to pay taxes that government use to maintain the military.

If IPOB called for a sit at home and people complied ,whether they stayed home for fear or favour is not what any of you can know. Military supossed to be in the barracks strategising for war incase of invasion.

Nigerian military and do nothing political crooks must learn how to follow the law. A crime was committed, and it is the statutory function of the Nigerian Police Force to investigate and prosecute. The military must stay away from the crime scene and allow the polices officers to do their job. Politicians must stop causing enmity between civilians and the military through their unlawful deployment of the military to do their dirty political jobs. Send the military back to the barracks and use them for only jobs specified by the constitution. These military men and women have family and must not risk their lives for stupid political hacks of APC Politicians.

I don't support killing in any way, infact I hardly slaughter a fowl by this I condemn the killing of anyone let alone the security personnel.
But I remember in resent time when this iPob things started they gathered at a school premise on a day like that and was fired at by the military. On another 30th June like that they came out with flags marching to mark the 30 June of that year but was fired at, this makes them to opt for a sitting at home on such days to avoid the casualties they suffer on such days. People should not forget.
I strongly believe that Nigeria should be made to work for everyone under a true federalism structure . But the state should not be quick to deploy the military in every matter or dismiss agitators with bullets this helps to give rise to insecurities later.

The military are seen in the east as occupying force, brutalizing, humiliating and intimidating pple so the general perception in igboland is that the military is an enemy and that's one of the reasons the pple tilted towards the none state actors. You come to a community you burn it down with mansions and you think the owner of the mansions won't contribute money to make life unbearable for you? Most soldiers in the east are northern Muslims who already sees igbos as enemies before coming so how do you expect them to give you information? A 15yr old boy was arrested after the killing of soldiers and he has brothers who lived in boarding skools if they come back and the army has killed their elder brother you expect them to be friends to Nigerian soldiers? It's not possible. The southeastern governors would have declared 30th public holiday thereby making the order very irrelevant. Why can't we igbos remember the pple who sacrificed their lives to defend our pple? If the state government declares public holiday definitely it will make the sit at home irrelevant because it's official. Meanwhile the Ohanaeze we have are just beggers and nobody takes them serious. If either they are begging this person or begging the other person this is just what we knw about them and nothing more

In most countries, the top leaders of the army are always very highly educated individuals. These are the sort of people who would look at issues critically and take necessary action before resorting to guns. For example, if any section of the country feels alienated, the army leaders would carefully look at the root causes of the alienation and through experience, take "heart and mind" measures to defuse tension. In Africa, the gun is seen as the answer to everything, even though these guns are bought from Europe and Asia, not made by Africans themselves. African armies should learn from history and refuse be used to suppress civil dissent when the root causes have not been addressed. This is why well educated soldiers like Ojukwu & co refused to use the Nigerian army to suppress the Tiv riots in the 1960s.
