You can record/save/playback your own custom sounds using the remote and play them back. If you want them to be like PFA announcements they can be. I've never used that particular feature. I have however used the playback feature where you can play back sounds/music through the train speaker with an MP3 player connected to the TIU, pretty amazing stuff!
@Tom1491 The TIU can be wired either in normal mode (power supply to TIU to track) or passively Power supply to track and then TIU to track. Connections can come in many forms. My DCS tips page has more info on the normal and passive modes and my mods page has info on how to connect power feeder wires to the track.
@Tom1491 Hi Tom, not sure if you saw my reply on the other video but it controls all trains with Protosound 1, 2 and the new 3 just now being released. Not just engines made by MTH. Protosound 2 upgrade kits are available from MTH to install in non-MTH engines or you can pay to have it installed. You can also control conventional AC powered engines under variable track voltage with the remote via the Variable 1 & 2 channels using AC power.
@sprsho Yes, that is how it works now, you just press the whistle button down for as long or as short as you like. You dont however get that quick retort sound as you do with the S01 softkey.
@jerryemt2001 Hi there, you sure can use one remote with both TIUs. You have a couple of options, you can set one to TIU1 and the other to TIU2 and make sure you have a TIU 1 and 2 in the remote.... or you can set both to be TIU1 and set them both Super TIU mode. I would probably try the super TIU mode first.
Yes will work with any brand. A key requirement is having a flywheel on drivetrain. With USA Trains for instance their two axle engines do not have them, three axles do so for the two axle engines I add one.
Is there a way to get a short burst of the whistle without having to press a soft key? I dont understand why MTH wouldnt just allow you to hold down the whistle button for as short/long as you want? Thanks
Great Video series! What is your website with the additional DCS tips? Also do you have a video that explains the light bulbs on the outputs, the white antenna wire connection points and layout wiring?
Hello Ray, I am setting up a garden railway [mayby about a 60yd run], I have MTH diesel, and also Bachmann 242 Baldwin, [DCC ready] and am looking seriously at the DCS system, but have no idea where to get a Transformer with passive supply that has loads of grunt, but dont need controls if I buy DCS??? cheers Andrew RGGR [ River Glades Garden Railroad] Australia
Hi Andrew, I personally would buy a power supply with throttle and direction controls so you have them available if you need them. I recommend the Bridgewerks Magnum SR-15amp throttle supply for most applications. Bridgewerks has a 20amp version available. I would buy directly from Bridgewerks (email or call them to for any specials and talk to Mark). Technically you can just get a power block (with no throttle controls) if you run DCS. I assume grunt means amps?

It is without a doubt the most user friendly remote I've seen available in G scale. I wouldn't trade it for anything :)
Well dome demo about the MTH / DCS System, very helpful.

@faderlader The S5 softkey also doubles as the power on/off button. You just hold it down and it will power off or power on.

@rs700301 Hi, That is a USA Trains G scale (1:29 scale) Hudson. On the right is an MTH 1:32 scale Hudson.

Wow I don't even remember posting this!
AWESOME I want that remote!!!
Great DCS review!!

Hi, thank you. See the video description for my website address.
Will this work on other brands like USA trains?
@aocruiser Thank you my friend!
