This conversation should be in Sinhala and Tamil too. A majority of English speaking Sri Lankans are already open to this topic and somewhat educated on this topic. If the same conversation is done in Sinhala and Tamil it would be more accessible to a majority of Sri Lankans and lgbtq community
Much respect to you Danu for coming forward with this. Born in Sri Lankan and now living in Sydney, I see the difference of mindset of people related to this issue. And education and awareness is the way forward and hopefully the next generation will be better on the same issue. It is pathetic to even call it an issue when it is such a natural thing. We need to come out of our boxed view of what society should be and accept things to what they are.
Thank you! 😘 I really hope for a progressive change in Sri Lanka very soon. Thanks all for setting an example, sharing your amazing stories and educating us all. Equality is important!
Well done!! Danu thank you very much for your support to the LGBTQ people in Sri Lanka. Nivendra explained about the current situation and the People's idea about the LGBTQ... Aritha well explained about the law and the legal part of the LGBTQ.. Dave thanks for shearing your ideas... Aritha ❤ Dave HAPPY to see you guys.. and I wish you both all the very best... Love is love there is no any rules or barriers for lovers... Thank you guys.... keep it up Danu....
An excellent program. Thank you Danu and the team! 💐 I strongly believe that this kind of discussions and programs should be broadcast in Sinhala as well because those who call LGBTQI s 'Ponnaya' or 'Panciya' as mentioned; would not understand these topics due to the language barrier. It's important that every citizen is informed and made aware of this if we expect a change. Well done guyz! 💐
Education and the making awareness must be come in to play to respect the diversity of humanity.. I appreciate this conversation and opening the eyes in the community . Hope everyone find their love ❤️ ❤️❤️..
Wow what a wonderful talk show to educate our narow minded soul's in Sri Lanka. You taught us law, legal rights and also to love the humanity at the same time . Well done Danu keep up the good work.
Absolutely AH-mazing! Danu, kudos x1000 to you for being bold to host this topic and for choosing the perfect guests to share about it! Danu is a phenomenal person and I admire him so so much. Aritha has been fiercely and passionately leading the way in Sri Lanka. Bravo all the way ❤🔥❤🔥👌🏼
Tremendously important topic Danu! Well done coming out with it (pardon the pun). Thank you for helping SL to move forward. Awareness ("expanding horizons", like Aritha said) is the only way we can deconstruct the stigma around homosexuality in SL.
Great episode, an eye opener and a important matter to talk about. Thank you for digging out such taboo topics in the country and talk about it. Do more! Best of luck! ❤️
Very Interesting segment, well done Danu , learned a lot from Aritha and Nvendra, both are very articulate and knowledgable and easy to listen to with their reasoning, I think with right education we can change our beautiful Sri Lanka's way of thinking, after all, we are a compassionate Nation we must respect and accept all people. Definitely, the obsolete absurd laws have to be changed
Why the disclaimer at the beginning? What's so "adult content" about this ? Good effort though. Nice to see people like you taking things forward and being progressive. The make up and styling shots are unnecessary. Best go straight in to the interview rather than have such long intros. Make it brief, snappy and straight to the point. It'll be much more effective that way. Interviews are honest. It will take a long time for attitudes to change but people like you guys are pushing for it. Congratulations and good luck.
I always wondered if Danu ever came out about himself .. perhaps this is the first time....Kudos.. in most countries comming out as gay or atheist will only create a disadvantage...
I wish this show could be shown on Lanka's terrestrial TV channels. People need to be educated in order to move past the stigma associated with the subject.
Great conversation! Love is love no matter what gender what color what religion! You can’t change people the way you want to be. Plz respect people the way they were born
Amazing content. Thank you guys for doing this, about time we start speaking about and stand up discrimination against equality. IMO, Aritha's explanation on legal stand in Lanka is a really eye opening and I full agree with his comment on Police or authorities target those who are not aware of their rights mainly. That's why creating awareness is essential in a society like Sri Lanka. I hope this message will spread through every knock and corner of the country, promoting tolerance, compassion, kindness and love regardless gender, religion, caste, sexual orientation. Also, that reaction of Danu at 33:20 though. haha. Well done guys.:)
I think the society is changing now, cus i have come across young teachers learning about psychology and accepting people for who they are. And through friends I've heard that unis are also becoming a safr place to homo sexual personalities. And programms like these must be a great influence for all these improvements... 👌
It is quite heartening to see a discussion of such controversy being conducted in Sri Lanka today. I can assure you that such a openly informative dialogue would have been unthinkable during my childhood. That being said I would like to add my two cents worth and wish not to be reductive to a nuanced debate. The complexity of LGBTI Rights in Sri Lanka faces many hurdles such as religion, politics and sociology (amongst other factors). It is an inherent assimilation of anti-homosexual legal doctrines for any country that has had contact with British common law, Judaeo-Christian law and/or Roman Dutch law. We see the countries of origin that have propounded these doctrines changed dramatically with regards to such laws. In the case of Sri lanka it is a total anachronism. In my humble opinion the aim should be to cut across many of the aforementioned factors by Decriminalising Homosexuality as well as education and awareness. I am glad that Aritha Wickremasinghe is a pioneer in this regard. I can only hope that if we cannot achieve legal remedies for equality, then at least education and awareness would pave a path to compassion and tolerance. Kind Regards...
Some parents feel quite uncomfortable to talk to their kids about these issues but it's really necessary for them to educate their children. If not they would start to judge the LGBTQ community and may end up bullying their peers etc. We have no right to judge or trash talk on the creatures God created
I am extremely sorry for the comments of some people who live in society at a time when it has been scientifically confirmed that homosexuality is not a mental illness. It is clear that the core of this program is that insulting cannot stop their journey. Today, these two are very valuable and important in society. As a human being, there is a very high happiness about it.❤
Danu has a fan base who loves him no matter what. You don't need close minded relative to bring you down. I've never met you but you need a place to crash for the night? I got you. You do you boo
As your every program this one also important one, in sinhala histry or buddhism philosophy has never specially mention about and never harm or insult like this anyone but kind about thoughts, everyone lived their own life , even doctor mention that, but we don't know what has mention other religion about these things but they were harm everyware in the world ,but past reasont it has effected even in sri lanka danu
I've watched alot of couples do shows together with you Danu, and I always look for their body language towards eachother.. well I think it's safe to say that I saw a level of affection on display today, between Aritha and Dave, that I haven't seen between other couples.
"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God."- 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
wow sir-Lanka has come a long way..................who cares as long as you are a good person on this earth,, are all inter sexual men good people as i may ask that question?????????????????
No one has written any ugly comments on this as Sri Lankan narrow minded lot cannot understand. If this was done in Sinhala you will get to see nasty comments using really bad language from the Buddhist public. Great work Danu. You are the only guy has balls to do a segment like this. Keep up the good work.💗👍
And you chose to be the first person to wtite an ugly comment lol. you thought all the viewers are non-buddhists and all buddhists are non english speakers? My my...Look how narrow minded you are babe ;). Be the change you want to see. PS: I am a buddhist, and fyi i have friends who are lesbos and Gay. Grow up woman...
Well said Dhan nid .how ignorant people like Nadia to put the blame on Buddhism which is no way can parallel with these kind of social identities.if she is non Buddhist she should shut up without underestimating Buddhist philosophy.true Buddhism or real Buddhists are way more open minded than these stone aged people like Nadia Daniel!
Dhan Nid, Well said....He shouldn’t complicate this matter with any religion rather he haven’t taken a real mean of the discussion.....That obviously the ugly comment I saw until now in this show.
"From the Buddhist public." HELLO?? Are you trying to incite religiosity? That's so disgusting tbh. Pls grow up! you're looking at the society from a wrong angle im sure about that. Just just educate yourself
Brilliant core fitters ✨ March 9 as we called March 2 or two neither make breath of solicitors having to ho through unattended murder on this issue in bar metic soil still call home to me, nonetheless being a gay aspirant who you don't still turkey as Greece days motbolllums still manicure it own venture thus hob word is premature as woomb suggest manhood to Manish as gender quality for equabalriu so THa sounds i to you my friends is Homni dating me or Frank's x Jesus boys ✨🌗🕙🌡️🕥🕤🌖🌕🌥️🌦️❤️🕘🎇🌞🌙🌟🌚🕦🌝🌓🕚☀️🌔🤣🌛🌈🌜

True
Why tamil ?
Why not Tamil? What religion or you??
This doctor has more insight about this more than everyone .. He explained it well.
