    After a brief migraine and some getting used to it, I find the new browser to be clearly better than the old one. Good video, thank you.

    Thanks for the deep dive Jurgen, this is pretty amazing. Can't help thinking they make some obscure interface choices, but I can see it can be remarkably powerful! Bit like Bitwig in general really 😅

    Thank you for this great video. It really adds value for me! Bitwig has been my main DAW for a good half year (coming from Logic and Studio One) and is by far the best DAW for me when it comes to hybrid setups. My hardware and software literally merge here... Bitwig 5 may not be a super big update, but I find the new browser - especially after your great video - super exciting (especially the hint with the key commands).

    Oh nice! I am a heavy keyboard shortcut user and always look for those accessibility features. The old browser hat some obstacles where you were stuck at a certain point. This Browser looks very promising I would love if Bitwig integrated some search functions as text .. like "!k" for searching for kind or "!c" for searching for category and so on ..but i am already happy what you showed and maybe not to have use the mouse to add something from the library. Thank you very much 🌻

      The 1st beta was really bad, but in 5.0.1 it feels really good now. Looking at the old one feels already a bit dated.

  • @DrawAndErase

    From a design point of view I don't think the new browser is better objectively. It's less overwhelming having the nested lists and if you simply just want to open up and find your instrument its quick and easy. I'm going to wait until the next point release to update on my main but, this browser requires a bit of getting used to and fine tuning, good design would mean you wouldn't need to do that haha.

    • @vroteg
      @vroteg Год назад

      Correct. I set it up to work like an old one. Fortunately you can do this through remember function when adding new instruments, fx, note fx etc. I like many of us don’t need to have a log list mixture of presets and devices and instruments.

    • @DrawAndErase
      @DrawAndErase Год назад

      Yeah for sure. The remember function has existed since the old browser, but never needed to use it and now most people have to!

  • @travelan

    my main issue with the new browser is that it's mostly a black useless area. I know I can resize it, and I've done that. But that should be by default and for some reason it forgets after a while.

    Is there a way to use a key command to jump between results windows? Such as my folders are on top and the samples within it are below, is there a way to shift focus between these 2 windows without having to click with the mouse? Thanks for all your videos

    are collections now limited or why is there no name shown, just the colored dot.
    in the old browser i had collections for all my plugins nicely sorted, like all delays, all reverbs etc.
    can i still have that ?

    • @mossgraber
      @mossgraber  Год назад

    • @CuriousPassenger
      @CuriousPassenger Год назад

      You can find your collections in the location menu.
      I sort stuff in collections like you do. I like the v5 browser more because I can have grid patches and presets in the same collections as devices. So if I have the Filters collection I can add there grid filter patches. That was not possible before.

      @@mossgraber yeah. I think its maybe the way i have ui. I like it quite large (175%) cos my eyes are a bit dodgy. This seems to mess the ui up a bit, like opening the righthand browser, it goes off the bottom of the screen. I'll try the update, but I think probably 175 % ui is the problem. Thanks for the controller updates 👍

    BITWIG DAMAGE CONTROL!
    How convenient that multiple RUclipsrs happen to make propaganda video on Bitwig Browser in the same day!
    How about talk about how the Developers have lied about Bitwig since inception of Bitwig
    1) The Grid is not the Modular System of pre-V1 screens
    2) mseg is old, Ableton has had Envelopes forever.
    3)V1-5 gui is always changing
    4) basic so called "features" should have been in V1
    Carrot on a Stick,
    NPC Bitwig Fangirls will keep sucking off Bitwig for all the vileness of the developers

    Absolutely hideous piece of junk this new browser. Old one was simple, straightforward and free of clutter. New one confusing, cluttered and many people anyway set it up to work like old one. So what was the point to waste so many working hours for something was working fine? Community was asking them to improve on so many things. And I can imagine they sit down in their office and was like: let’s change something working and no one ask to change! Good idea. 🤦‍♂️
    PS I know people will say I just don’t understand. Just read above. It was working great and 95% percent of users will tweak new browser to work just like old did. So waste of time, money and opportunity to bring to the table something bitwig crying for to be changed.

    • @TomFinsterMusic
      @TomFinsterMusic Год назад

      i always found the old browser limiting - why was there no way to select a device and then switch to presets for it. Now it's only a right-arrow away. The collections and smart-searches work just the same way and can be accessed quicker. everything that changes habits is painful in the beginning, you're clinging to the past.
