My first experience with them was in the Chicago airport. I got them at one of those food stands. I walked to my gate, ate the “chicken” curry, and stomped back over to the stand and said “You made me eat meat didn’t you?” And he said, “No, read the package.” I now buy them in boxes, too. Can’t wait to try your recipes!!
My husband could NOT believe it was meatless. He also smiled after the first bite and actually said, “Yeah, Sweet Baby Rays!”. Nope, it was your recipe...SO much healthier than that sugar processed filled stuff. Today I got my 6 qt. Instant Pot. At Costco this morn some people were looking at a multi cooker...I started talking about the Instant Pot...and you...and how our lives are being transformed...and by the time we were done they’re off to get 2 Instant Pots (one for their daughter) and will be coming here to see you. Lol lol lol. It’s like a BIG circle of love ❤️ going on here, right?
Jill! Took your recipe to our potluck and EVERYONE loved them!!! Even had a chef there who couldn't believe how good it was! (He had seconds) One gal, who is vegetarian, said she felt like she was cheating because it tasted and felt like meat. Most everyone had seconds and some even thirds! Thanks again!
I've been vegan for two and a half years and I just discovered these last week....ikr? I've made them four times since and it's impossible to screw them up they are absolutely amazing. Just a dash of soy or rice wine vinegar and caramelizing in a pan after rehydrating with your favorite vegan broth is just plain mouth-watering... So simple so fast so good! Kudos on the opening I've been in six blues bands.. you have a new sub.
Holy Moly! I made this tonight and it was a HIT with every member of the family. For the record, that NEVER happens!!! I, too, have two kids - a teen boy (13) and a girl (11). Only, mine are opposite of yours, my daughter tries everything and likes most simply on the basis of she didn't have to cook her own meal. ;) My son, on the other hand, is a self-proclaimed carnivore. He eats no vegetable he isn't forced to ingest, existing primarily on meat he cooks for himself. rrrg. I asked him to give this a try before rejecting it, expecting only one bite. When he took the second bite and then the third, I had to pinch myself! REALLY?! He sheepishly confessed that he actually liked the sandwich!!! VICTORY!!! I love soy curls and I love YOU! THANK YOU for introducing me to this new wonderfood!!! I can't wait to try new ways to use it! Keep posting recipes!!!
I've got to be honest, I purchased my Instant Pot six months ago and finally used it today. I made this tonight. OMG amazing, why didn't I make this months ago? Jill, you knocked it out of the park on this one. I bow to you!
First, LOVE your videos!! I made this dish recently and they were tasty served a couple of different ways!! The next day I was standing over the sink eating cold curls with a fork from a carton, you folks know what that's like - I was hungry and in a hurry to fix the problem! I had an epiphany as I was chomping down - these dang things taste almost like shrimp in cocktail sauce! I got out a bottle of horseradish and dumped half the bottle in the cold barbecued sauce/curls and BELLS WENT OFF! OMG MOMENT! Added celery chopped fine and a little lemon juice, closed my eyes and enjoyed!
OMG I tried them for the first time tonight and i totally ate them out of the baking pan by themselves and I TOO was getting the vague similarity of shrimp-ness!!! i'm sooooo gonna explore that option further.
Oldie but goodie! I gave up on these curls because they WERE so dang chewy but I will try them again with your advice. Thanks, Jill. I love your accent, so nice to hear (like the Southern part of my family that are now long gone).
O.K.! I know this video is over 4 yrs old! BUT... I'm New to this vegan thang! Bought some curls on Amazon and made this for the first time about a week ago ( Your Recipe). I thought it was for real! My fitness trainer who I gave a portion to, Thought she was" Cheatin" it was so good! And Joy the nutritional advisor said... "It was the best thing she has Ever tasted!". So All I can say is... Home Run! Sold!!! Thank You Jill !!!!
I made this two days ago, just on the stove with a bit of extra water. Turned out so good! Topped with some avocado and 'kraut. I had to eat a second helping! My new fave!! Thanks Jill!
Yay for soy curls! Can’t wait to try this recipe. I rehydrated some , added chopped celery and sweet onions and put in a pint sized jar. We all make quick sandwiches when we take enough for a sandwich , mix with dressing and put in toasted bread with lettuce. So quick and easy.
Soy Curls are GREAT for vegan chikn salad sandwiches. Have you ever tried making a Waldorf Salad with Soy Curls? I have the recipe in one of my Soy Curls cookbooks. I can’t remember which one, right now.
Greetings from South Florida. I have this in the slow cooker now! I just recently learned about soy curls. I've been plant based since October, so I'm just learning about all the yummy alternatives there are. PLUS I recently found your channel. I love your energy and your sweet family!!
Jill, my soy curls arrived (no one sells them here) and I got to make this BBQ recipe tonight. It was a huge hit with my husband and son. They both has two helpings. My step son was here and taste tested it. Big thumbs up!! My first time trying soy curls. Next I want to try the chicken pot pie dish. That was one of my husbands favorites before we went plant based. Thanks for all your great videos.
Made this recipe last night and it was AMAZING! This was my first time trying soy curls and I am officially hooked. LOVE your IPot cookbook! Can't wait to try them all. :-)
I finally tried them after having the bags sit in my kitchen for months. I just did them on top of the stove, tho (no patience for slow cooker) with mesquite BBQ sauce. O M Gosh! They were great. I've had them a few times now and can't believe how good they are. I've only done the BBQ, but I can seem them in stir fries, etc. Delish. Glad I saw your video.
calendarpage You're going to LURV them in stir fries and casseroles, too! Have you watch my Soy Curls Tetrazzini vid? ruclips.net/video/PcsbayThBHg/видео.html
This is my go-to recipe when I have visitors to my home who are meat eaters. Everyone LOVES it, has seconds and thirds, and leaves full and happy. Thank you!!!
doxielover0126 THAT'S AWESOME, thank you for telling me. My husband loves this recipe, too. He says we should always serve for our meat-loving friends. I can't wait for our next big family get together. I plan to bring BBQ soy curls. I have no idea how many of my family members will have the cheeseballs to try them, we'll see. Family can be a tougher crowd to please than friends.
Simple Daily Recipes Oh, I also baked some potato wedges to go along with the BBQ soy curls. I used your method from the BBQ lentil video. Thank you for easy, delicious recipes!
doxielover0126 Hubby and Teen love those wedges with their veg burgers, too. THANK YOU for supporting me and making this channel popular by watching, sharing and hitting thumbs up on the videos. ;D
Just received some soy curls from Butler foods. Can't wait to try this recipe. You are such an inspiration to me. I love your excitement about vegan cooking.
I wanted to use up some soy curls and found this recipe .. so I told my husband that I was going to try this out. He always gets a worried look whenever I mention I will experiment with a new recipe LOL, and suggested I only make half in case we didn't like it. Followed your recipe for this bbq soy curls and after two bites, he says "you better make some more cause we'll mow thru this in no time" ... I made some more. This recipe is a "keeper" and I thank you for sharing it. :)
I love your channel!! I made this last night and it was a huge hit. My meat eaters loved it and I was looking forward to leftovers today...sadly no leftovers I served over steamed rice and steamed/sauted broccoli with garlic, salt & pepper on the side!! Will definitely make again
Hey, Jill. Ordered and received the bulk box of soy curls...my family loves them!! Thanks for sharing! We are 5 months into a high carb low fat vegan lifestyle and REALLY appreciate your enthusiasm and recipes. Thank you. Say...any chance you made your BBQ sandwich bun...and wanna share the recipe? Miriam from Tennessee
Hi Miriam! Thank you for watching my videos. Congratulations on making the change in your lifestyle! YEAH YOU!!! and your family ;D I bet y'all are feeling better, too, right? Are you following Dr. McDougall recommendantions? As for those lovely wheat buns in the video, I bought them from a local foodie mart bakery. I have not tried making my own buns. Now that I think about, we tend to think of burger food when the mood hits us, not as a planned meal.
Wow! I made this recipe this morning and I was skeptical. I have never tried soy curls before but this recipe tastes amazing. Thank you for helping me try something new.
+Erin Lent You're welcome! I'm glad to hear the soy curls worked out for you. Did you see my most recent video where I baked them and stuffed them in black bean tacos? Go here: ruclips.net/video/neLGFjKB8wg/видео.html
I'm so glad they work for you! Holler, if you have any questions. My family and I have enjoyed soy curls since 2014. They're still a part of our weekly menu.
I bought a bag of soy curls at the same time as my IPot...haven't used them, yet (I'm clearing out my freezer, at the moment....so my Omnivore side is kicking in)...soy curls remind me of TVP, insofar as they have to be rehydrated and can take on any seasoning....i love the recipes you've shared, and have actually swapped chicken (??!!) in some of your recipes, to good results...you do rock, Jill
I bought these because of your videos and i havta say.... THESE aRE a GaMECHaNGER. Sooo freaking perfectly textured. I really miss white chicken chili and these things are gonna fix all that. THaNK YOU SO MUCH FOR TURNING ME ON TO THESE.
YOU ARE WELCOME, Calonstanni! Have you seen the soy curls playlist I have on my channel? Plenty of great ideas and more to come. Go here: ruclips.net/p/PLvgBqmNY7Ndk4-h3uYGH03UUI7gyHKdM4
Cool, Jill! Next pay day I think I need to order some soy curls and some chicken-less and beef-less type bases (I already make a veggie base to keep in the freezer.) I have to tell you, when you were dancin' around with the had on in the beginning your "sideburns" were swinging around, and reminded me of Goofy's ears. Seemed appropriate. ;) Love you, girl!
I FINALLY just got the soy curls!! after watching IDK hwo many of your videos and wanting them I finally orderd and rec'd them, I was going to make your cauliflower alfredo with curls recipe tonight but I just made it all without using the curls lol. I will use them tomorrow in one of your other recipes :) xo Michele
Second time trying soy curls. I LLLLOOOOOVVVVVEEEE your BBQ sauce and soy curl recipe. Thanks to you I’m sure I’ll be making soy curl meals often! And.... my husband who doesn’t like my WFPB lifestyle meals really really likes the BBQ soy curls. Num-num-num!
Having a late dinner and making it right now but I'm using store bbq sauce. I'm using my Wolfgang Puck slow cooker. Smells really good. Let's see if the hubby likes this as much as the McDougall burgers.... ;-)
Ok, I’m trying this out now. 58 min to go in my mini Instant Pot. Yes, yes, the 6 qt will arrive tomorrow. (And it’s mostly because of you...and my years of attempting to be vegan). So I. Tipping my hat towards you, Jill. I just may owe you my life, sweetie. How wonderful is that?
+carlitadee WOOT WOOT! I have to say I am thrilled to know your book club enjoyed the BBQ soy curls. I am doing a happy wiggle dance in my chair as I write to you. :D You holler if you ever need help with another recipe. I'm online Monday through Friday.
New subscriber here! I love your upbeat personality, and that your kids love it too! I just ordered Soy Curls because of all your videos, can't wait to try it.
+hintofmintmeia WELCOME! I'm so glad you're here. Holler for me if you have ANY questions about those soy curls or if you just wanna talk food. I'm good for that, too. ;D
OMG.... I watch your videos like I watch The Big Bang Theory! 😂 You crack me up, have awesome recipes and show step by step instructions. I don't think plant based shows could get any better then that. Thank you!!
I just found your channel when looking for cheese sauce recipes. I then saw this video....soy curls? what? I've never heard of these.....they sound interesting. I think I might have to binge watch this channel, you are amazing!

BTW I am going to be making the black-eyed pea salad from one of your videos tomorrow. Hoping that my boys will like it. They like things I think they won't and don't like things I'm sure they will, they are just wild...hahaha
Thanks for all the soy curl recipes. Do not have a slow cooker, so I guess I will simmer on a very low heat.... For how long? I noticed people in the states cook many dishes with a slow cooker. It is not so popular here in Germany. I already own a Thermomix TM5 and my kitchen is too small for another kitchen gadget as I call them. Well you have a fan from Germany. I like your down to earth personality.
Simple Daily Recipes Hubby thinks he is in heaven lol . After he ate some he grabbed the little recipe booklet that came with the curls and was started telling me what else I should make with these awesome curls.!
+karen richardson Tell him, I've learned anywhere you would have put chicken, beef or pork, you simply substitute with soy curls. Thankfully when doing this, there's no need for long cooking times to kill pathogens. You simply simmer the curls in the sauces, rubs and/or marinades that you associate with the meat you're trying to substitute. SHAZAM. OH OH OH! Show him the video where I grilled soy curls for Hot Wings meal. He's going to love it! ruclips.net/video/zYyz0WuoB0A/видео.html
I love your vídeos and your so funny. You March along to the beat of your own dummer, just like me. I just got in a order from Butler foods. Got some soy curls and their chicken style seasoning. Even though i dont have a instapot yet, i will try this recipe. Thanks for sharing.
OH MY GOSH! I just finished making this and it is SOOOOO Good!!! Some of this is going to go on my pizza tonight and the rest will be sandwiches and it is truly amazing. Thanks for the post!!!!
craftoncue Good morning Linda! I have so many recipe ideas for soy curls. It's taking everything I've got not to burn my family out on them. The other day I was daydreaming about soy curl tetrazini (sp?). Did you ever make that for church families in need? Back in east TX, it was practically a Get-Well-Soon staple dish.
You are SO funny! My daughter and I love to watch your channel. She is 14 and you have her looking at me suspiciously and saying, "I actually want to try that." HA! Way to go Jill!
Hi Samantha Williams and daughter! Thank you for watching!!! I can't believe it. After all these years, I'm still capable of influencing teenagers. Only this time, no one's getting in trouble. ;D Let me know when you give those soy curls a try. I have a Soy Curl Tetrazzini in the editing stage; I hope to have it uploaded sometime this weekend. Hubby and the kids LOVED IT!
Thank you for introducing me to soy curls! We made this recipe tonight and it turned out great! I love that the soy curls don't have any weird chemicals or added fat. By the way, what brand of organic ketchup do you use?
Teri Washbear Hi Teri!!! I'm so glad you like the soy curls. I made a delicious (family winner) Creamy Tomato-Spinach Pasta dinner with curls the other night. OH. SO. GOOD. I'm editing the video now. If I wasn't so fuzzy headed I'd shoot my commentary now and get it uploaded. But I don't want to ruin the honeymoon phase. ;D OH! The ketchup. My local grocer offers an organic ketchup full of spices and not sugary at all. We've been eating for years. I can't remember, are you in Texas. If so, it's H.E.B.'s Organic Ketchup.
Simple Daily Recipes Oh, ok! I'm actually in North Carolina. But I never know what I'll find at Whole Foods. Oooh, your newest pasta recipe sounds good. Looking forward to seeing that video when you're ready! Thank you!
Hey have you tryed these with "Jackfruit" meat alterative???? I know this is your preference instead of meat but I'm so certain you're going to love it..If you decide to please do a video. Thanks in advance
+Tonya King I tried jackfruit back in the beginning of our plant-based journey. My family and I were not won over by it. We've learned we prefer barbecue lentils, barbecue cabbage and barbecue soy curls when we get to hankering barbecue sandwiches.
My curls came today! So now I got the pot lol and I got the curls so it's time to cook this recipe!!!!! My husband ordered the 12 lb box after seeing your video, I think he misses MEAT!
+karen richardson AWESOME. Soy Curls TIP! After you rehydrate them, drop them in a drink blender and with the lowest speed setting, give them a whirl for 5 seconds. This will shred the curls to look just like shredded chicken. Transfer them to the iPot and let them cook in the chopped onion as you wait for the onion to become translucent. Carry on with building the barbecue sauce over the shredded curls. Now something I've learned since making this video, we don't have to slow cook them for an hour. We can simmer them with the Sauté mode set on Less heat setting for 20-30 minutes. Basically, simmering to help the sauce ingredients to marry up and allowing the curls to swim around and pick up the flavors, too. WIN WIN in half the time.
It said hot and stopped simmering so I just took the lid off and it is simmering away now. You need to come to my house eek!!!! I read the book again and now have the lid back on loosely. Whew, glad I didn't pick some thing more complicated for my first run.
Lulu Cocina Orgánica After watching Dr. Michael Greger's video, How Much Soy is Too Much? ( nutritionfacts.org/video/how-much-soy-is-too-much/ ) I don't worry about eating soy curls, soy milk, tofu or tempeh. Soybeans eat close to the natural state is still a good thing. From what I have come to understand, it's the soy isolate proteins, overly processed soy products, that steer us into ugly waters.
When I don't feel like making my own sauce, it takes a 20-ounce bottle of barbecue sauce to cover enough to serve eight. I also add up to 1/2 cup water to prevent scorching the sauce while it's heating up. The water cooks out by the time it's good and hot.
I received my Soy Curls from Butler FAST. I made your BBQ sandwiches-after shredding them in the Vitamix; they were honestly absolutely delicious. My V husband and mother LOVED them as well. A few days ago I made your cauliflower/ cashew (I cooked these in my new IP first) alfredo sauce w pasta, peas, and another chkn strip product; divine. So today I made your freaking broccoli salad and ate half the bowl myself!!! THANK YOU for THREE freaking HIT meals/ dishes in ONE WEEK!!!! I am honestly tickled pink!
loving the Butler soy curls. I used them to make Mongolian soy curls. Ive been missing my Mongolian beef from my favorite Chinese restaurant. Check out this recipe. I did used half the sugar and add liquid smoke to the soaking of the soy curls. I don't usually use oil to cook but used about 2 table spoons instead of the 1/3 cup. I bet these would be good in the I pot.veganyumminess.com/mongolian-soy-curls/
Holly Archer Thanks for the recipe link. I remember Mongolian beef back in the day, so good! I'm going to give it whirl on my guys and see what they think :D
Going to definitely try this out... I got 6 bags of Soy Curls I bought months ago, but wasn't sure what I wanted to use them in. Off topic here a bit, but I really miss Lemon Pepper Wings, its the one non-plant-based food I miss the most. Do you think there is some way to Lemon Pepper up the Soy Curls or anything else to ease my Lemon Pepper Wing craving... :) Hopefully in the IP...
Hi! Do you store your soy curls in the refrigerator or freezer? I just saw on the package that you should. My use by date on the last 2 packages was 3 days ago. Do you think they are still good to use?
+Robin S I keep my so I curls in the freezer. I'm sure yours are fine; go ahead and throw them in the freezer if you are not planning to use them right away.
You wouldn't know it by looking in my freezer that I am single. My freezer is packed and so is my pantry. (don't ask me why). I will try to find room. I also ordered more from Amazon because I have Amazon Prime and the shipping is free. I love your videos and recipes! Thank you!
I had heard about soy curls, but I just saw one recipe for them the other day, so now I have to get the soy curls, and try different recipes. The web site for the curls has jerky, but it's just one flavor. Have you tried making jerky out of the soy curls? I tried in the past making jerky from tofu, and needless to say, it didn't work. I don't really like the taste of seitan. It has a nasty after taste, and no matter how you try to season it, or no matter how much bbq sauce you put on seitan, there's still that taste. SO, I thought I would get soy curls, and try to make jerky out of it. Since it is so dry and crispy before being rehydrated, do you think first of all jerky can be made out of the soy curls, and secondly, do you think they would get so crispy again being dehydrated that they won't make good jerky?
Made this tonight. LOVE the bbq sauce but I still can't seem to get past the taste of soy curls. I've been vegan 6 years so I'm not comparing them to meat. There's just something about it my taste buds don't like. :( it's too bad cause you make such amazing looking food with them!
+adlaib5 These days, I shred the rehydrated soy curls in a drink blender on the lowest speed setting for 5 seconds. The soy curls come out looking like shredded chicken. Then I water sauté the curls with 1 chopped yellow onion, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1 teaspoon liquid smoke, and cook until the onion is translucent. Pour the barbecue sauce over the soy curls and continue simmering until the barbecue sauce is heated through. SHAZAM! You're eating in less than 30 minutes.
I'm thinking about getting some Soy Curls. Seems to me that you use the same way TVP is used. Right? More video's please! Can you try creating a Greek inspired dish using curls instead of chicken in a Greek Lemon Chicken with oregano?
Do you have a recipe for Greek Lemon Chicken? I've never had it. Right now, I'm cooking rehydrated soy curls just like they were cut up chicken strips. My next recipe to veganize is King Ranch Chicken. Did you ever make that? We loved having it on Sundays after church.
I didn't really use recipes when I ate meat, but chicken parts were marinated with fresh lemon juice, EVOO, oregano, maybe some thyme and rosemary... salt and pepper. Marinate in a baking dish and bake at 350 until done. Also, I would love to veganize the Greek avgo-lemono sauce that is poured over many of the meat dishes too. It's made with eggs, fresh lemon and broth. Very much like a lemony veloute sauce.
Soy curls are whole soy beans boiled and stirred, then dehydrated. Considered a whole natural food because the soybean has not been turned into anything else, only cooked & dehydrated. The texture, once rehydrated, is very similar to roast beef or poultry meat. Depending on the way soy curls are marinated or cooked, they can easily be mistaken for bits of chicken thigh meat or pulled beef. TVP stands for 'textured vegetable protein' and has a Frankenstein-like method of being made. See this wikipedia link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Textured_vegetable_protein
Thank you for pointing this out. They look similar to the TVP "Sojaschnetzel" we have here in Germany and I'd never heard of soy curls before. That's why I wondered...
Watching this video was like getting a postcard from "HOME" ...a place I have not seen in lifetimes and barely remember...thank you darling! Barbecue Soy Curls Cooked in the Instant Pot: ruclips.net/video/CJzegx5c5GE/видео.html
Great question! I’m going to guess 6 -8 sandwiches per bag, just to be on the safe side for leftovers. I’m thinking it would depend on the size of the bread and how high someone piles on the barbecue. I don’t know if that’s helpful. I’ve been buying the 12-pound bag for years. I’ve stopped measuring by ounces and use bowls to dole out the servings. My family can really chow down on soy curls.
There is another lady that does couponing on here that is your double. Looks like you, talks like you too. Do you have a sister that does couponing videos?
My first experience with them was in the Chicago airport. I got them at one of those food stands. Lol lol lol. It’s like a BIG circle of love ❤️ going on here, right?
Jill! Took your recipe to our potluck and EVERYONE loved them!!! Even had a chef there who couldn't believe how good it was! Valerie Scrafford That is WONDERFUL!!!
(Shoo, so glad that turned out well ;D) When's the next potluck?
Probably in June sometime
I've been vegan for two and a half years and I just discovered these last week....ikr? I've made them four times since and it's impossible to screw them up they are absolutely amazing. Determined to learn what I can do with cabbage and I found your recipe to be the easiest and tastiest cabbage meal EVER. We're hooked!! 😱😱
Suinda Sanjuan THANK YOU for watching! I'm glad you found me. :D
I made this two days ago, just on the stove with a bit of extra water. Turned out so good! Topped with some avocado and 'kraut. I had to eat a second helping! My new fave!! Thanks Jill!
I have never thought to combine sauerkraut and barbecue! Ok, next time, I make barbecue, I'm going to try it. :D
Yaas! It gives a bit of contrasting tart to the sweet BBQ sauce.
I just wanted to say your awesome!! My twin daughters and I love watching your recipes. Very funny yet informative!! Thank you!
Carlos Santiago THANK YOU for watching! Tell your girls I said "Hello!" Do they like to help out in the kitchen?
Yay for soy curls! Can’t wait to try this recipe. I rehydrated some , added chopped celery and sweet onions and put in a pint sized jar. We all make quick sandwiches when we take enough for a sandwich , mix with dressing and put in toasted bread with lettuce. So quick and easy.

I'm going to make this soon! I like to soak my soy curls in vegetable stock. Gives it some extra flavor.
This recipe looks great! I am making this for a wedding picnic reception for our vegan guests. Thanks!
🙌WOOT WOOT🙌 I'm so happy to hear your family likes soy curls! Soy curls are awesome for enjoying old favorite comfort meals again. :D
Made this recipe last night and it was AMAZING! This was my first time trying soy curls and I am officially hooked. LOVE your IPot cookbook! Can't wait to try them all. :-)
+Southern_vegan THANK YOU! Your praise swells my heart with joy!
I finally ordered the soy curls. Trying your bbq recipe today. Thanx for introducing something new to a thirty year vegetarian just turned vegan.
Holly Archer Thank you, Holly! Having online friends like yourself makes it fun to do what I do. Thank you for all your support and encouragement!
Thank you thank you thank you....HUGE hit with my family today!!!! Had my Mom and Dad over and they loved it!! This recipe is a keeper! YUM!!!
Making this for Easter Sunday!
How'd it turn out?
This is dinner tonight! We have had it before, and it's just plain yum!
My meat eaters loved it and I was looking forward to leftovers today...sadly no leftovers
I served over steamed rice and steamed/sauted broccoli with garlic, salt & pepper on the side!!
This tastes amazing. Very simple recipe. I love the bbq sauce.
Thank you, Super Man! I've been making that sauce for so long, long before we ever went plant-based. I'm glad you like it, too!
I am just trying soy curls for the first time, and your recipe looks delicious. Trying them for lunch today. Thanks Jill.
Just tried them, and they are a game changer! Ate them with a cranberry cabbage slaw. These will be a regular. Thank you soooo much!
I'm so glad they work for you! Holler, if you have any questions. My family and I have enjoyed soy curls since 2014. They're still a part of our weekly menu.
I now too love soy curls! Thank you for your videos.
My soy curls arrived yesterday and am making this now in my Instant Pot! Taking them to a pot luck!
Valerie Scrafford Did you shred them?
Yes!
Valerie Scrafford Let us know how they go over at the potluck. Wish I was going with you.
YES!!!! I love your soy curl playlist and I also gave a package to a friend and hooked her up to your RUclips Soycurl playlist. ;)
I will use them tomorrow in one of your other recipes :)
xo Michele
Second time trying soy curls. I LLLLOOOOOVVVVVEEEE your BBQ sauce and soy curl recipe. Thanks to you I’m sure I’ll be making soy curl meals often! And.... my husband who doesn’t like my WFPB lifestyle meals really really likes the BBQ soy curls. Num-num-num!
You need to make my meatloaf recipe for him. My husband and son CHOWDOWN when I make it.
Thank for turning me on to soy curl. I just got mine in the mail and made a vegan pesto pasta with then. Yummy
I’m a leeetle concerned because you said to adjust the slow cook to high heat...it smells great, however. Getting hangry...buns await.
Made them. Served them to my book club, vegan, vegetarian, and carnivore. All plates were licked. I can't thank you enough for this amazing recipe.
+carlitadee WOOT WOOT! I have to say I am thrilled to know your book club enjoyed the BBQ soy curls. I am doing a happy wiggle dance in my chair as I write to you. :D You holler if you ever need help with another recipe. I'm online Monday through Friday.
+Simple Daily Recipes Lol! Good to know. Thank you. They were a HUGE hit. Who'dathunkit?
New subscriber here! I love your upbeat personality, and that your kids love it too! I just ordered Soy Curls because of all your videos, can't wait to try it.
+hintofmintmeia WELCOME! I'm so glad you're here. Holler for me if you have ANY questions about those soy curls or if you just wanna talk food. I'm good for that, too. ;D
OMG.... I watch your videos like I watch The Big Bang Theory! 😂 You crack me up, have awesome recipes and show step by step instructions. I don't think plant based shows could get any better then that. Thank you!!
These are so good! Made them for the second time tonight. Thanks for the great recipe! You have such a fun personality btw!
+HereAndNow702 THANK YOU! I'm glad you found a recipe worth repeating. :D
This looks great cant wait to try it! I'm going to share it on my fb page.
I just found your channel when looking for cheese sauce recipes. I then saw this video....soy curls? what? I've never heard of these.....they sound interesting. I think I might have to binge watch this channel, you are amazing!

Simple Daily Recipes AWESOME. I have seen some of the Hang with videos, but I had yet to figure out how to go about doing that. I will go check that out. It looks fun.
Made your soy ginger soy curls recipe tonight. Sooo delicious! Definitely a winner. Going to make this next. Love me my soy curls. ❤️💪🏻🌱
These turned out awesome!!!!!! Thanks for your video and for your tips!!!!!
+karen richardson YEAAAAAAH! What did Hubby think?
Simple Daily Recipes Shazam! I'm going to watch it right now!
Jill! Jill!Oh my GOSH! Deeeeeelishious! Thank you from the bottom of my heart (also because I bought so MUCH of these soy curls).
I love your vídeos and your so funny. You March along to the beat of your own dummer, just like me. I just got in a order from Butler foods. Got some soy curls and their chicken style seasoning. Even though i dont have a instapot yet, i will try this recipe. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Laquita! I've tried being what I think others want me to be but I could never stick to it. It's much easier to be me. ;D
OH MY GOSH! I just finished making this and it is SOOOOO Good!!! Some of this is going to go on my pizza tonight and the rest will be sandwiches and it is truly amazing. Thanks for the post!!!!
Thanks to your videos I tried soy curls,,, and OMG best meat alternative ever. And you're freaking crazy.
I'm from Austin, you make me miss home , love your videos
..Jill, we love this way of preparing Soy Curls, thank you
+brian1861 OH YEAAAH! So glad to hear it. Thank you for letting me know. ;D
Hi Jill. This recipe looks great. I will be making this soon. Love the Soy Curls since you introduced them to me. Linda Hardesty
craftoncue Good morning Linda!
Only this time, no one's getting in trouble. ;D
Let me know when you give those soy curls a try. I have a Soy Curl Tetrazzini in the editing stage; I hope to have it uploaded sometime this weekend. Hubby and the kids LOVED IT!
Only in Texas, rockin it Jill....
My mouth is watering...yum!
Yes, I will have to try this! Thanks for sharing! :)
But I don't want to ruin the honeymoon phase. ;D
OH!
Thank you!
Making this tonight!!! 🙌🏼
Hey have you tryed
these with "Jackfruit" meat alterative????
I know this is your preference instead of meat but I'm so certain you're going to love it..If you decide to please do a video. Thanks in advance
+Tonya King I tried jackfruit back in the beginning of our plant-based journey. My family and I were not won over by it. We've learned we prefer barbecue lentils, barbecue cabbage and barbecue soy curls when we get to hankering barbecue sandwiches.
OK thanks for that info
Omg you're my new favorite vegan youtuber!!! Now I need to get soy curls and an I-pot!!!
+Marcellina West You're my new favorite subscriber!!!! I'm so glad you found me. Have you been vegan your whole life or just getting started?
+Simple Daily Recipes just getting started! I've been vegetarian since summer 2015 and vegan since Jan 1, 2016!
+Marcellina West That's wonderful! Have you noticed any changes since transitioning?
Simple Daily Recipes Thanks for the tip!
I had the lid on and then read that I shouldn't when saute'ing, so I put a glass lid with a little air hole in it on the pot. Is this right?
It said hot and stopped simmering so I just took the lid off and it is simmering away now. You need to come to my house eek!!!! I read the book again and now have the lid back on loosely. Whew, glad I didn't pick some thing more complicated for my first run.
I love all your recipes! What do you think about eating a lot of soy? people have said to me not to eat as much but I like it
Lulu Cocina Orgánica After watching Dr.
How many cups of store-bought BBQ would I need if I didn't want to make my own? Awesome recipe and video by the way 😊
When I don't feel like making my own sauce, it takes a 20-ounce bottle of barbecue sauce to cover enough to serve eight. I also add up to 1/2 cup water to prevent scorching the sauce while it's heating up. The water cooks out by the time it's good and hot.
Jill you are so awesome and so much fun to watch! thnx or beings such a sweety and making bomb ass vegan grub.
Oh thank you!!!!
Hi Jill, I don't do tomatoes or ketchup... can I use 2 cups of bbq sauce instead?
Yes, use your favorite barbecue sauce. ;D
thanks!
good grief, I need to go through and like all your soy curl recipes!
What do you think about Vitamixing the Curls before dumping them in w/ the BBQ sauce (like you showed to shred them up in another video)??!!
50tmack YES. I do that now. It makes a better BBQ Sandwich, too.
I want to make this but I think I’ll shred the soil curls before adding them to the slow cooker
OH yeah, shredding beforehand is what I do these days. This video was shot a couple of years ago.
You’re freaking hysterical!😂😂😂👏🏼
loving the Butler soy curls.
What about making a lemon pepper broth for the soy curls to absorb? Then bake, fry, or grill them in a lemon pepper baste?
Thank you!
I am going to make this tomorrow. Sounds delicious! Do you have a favorite slaw recipe?
Have you made this on pressure?
when i get the soy curls in the mail, this will be the first recipe, but i think i will replace the molasses with sorghum syrop!
You are too funny and this does look fantastic. 👍
Team Broccoli THANK YOU!
Thanks so much, it was deeelishhhh!
Since it is so dry and crispy before being rehydrated, do you think first of all jerky can be made out of the soy curls, and secondly, do you think they would get so crispy again being dehydrated that they won't make good jerky?
daksmom1999 I would buy the Butler Foods jerky first then decide if it's what I think it is and would it be worth the time to make it.
Simple Daily Recipes the sample of the Butler jerky I received with my soy curls was awesome. Could not believe it was not meaty jerky
My first virgin time making anything with soy curls!
you are a riot. thx.
Making this tonight :)
Let me know how it turns out, Sandra :D
Made this tonight. LOVE the bbq sauce but I still can't seem to get past the taste of soy curls. I've been vegan 6 years so I'm not comparing them to meat. There's just something about it my taste buds don't like. :( it's too bad cause you make such amazing looking food with them!
YUM!
I do not have an instant pot , how can I make this on stove top.
?
Very much like a lemony veloute sauce.
maxiedoodle I'll do some searching around. Thanks for the suggestion and inspiration ;D
I really need to order some soy curls :)
Linda Yes, you do, Linda. Yes, you most certainly do. ;D
Are the soy curls the same as tvp curls?
That's why I wondered...
you are a hoot!
I just Have To get these soy curls!!!!! I'm slacking!!!
Okay, I'm in, and I'm bringing my carnivorous book club members in with me. Is there anything I need to know to double the recipe?
Watching this video was like getting a postcard from "HOME" ...a place I have not seen in lifetimes and barely remember...thank you darling!
Barbecue Soy Curls Cooked in the Instant Pot: ruclips.net/video/CJzegx5c5GE/видео.html
+Brian Blancett I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Where did you grow up?
Simple Daily Recipes grow up? Thankfully I have managed to avoid that. Yeah buddy! =B^)
Rock on, sister.
How. Many sandwiches did you get from that 8oz bag?
Great question! I’m going to guess 6 -8 sandwiches per bag, just to be on the safe side for leftovers. I’m thinking it would depend on the size of the bread and how high someone piles on the barbecue.
I don’t know if that’s helpful. I’ve been buying the 12-pound bag for years. I’ve stopped measuring by ounces and use bowls to dole out the servings. My family can really chow down on soy curls.
There is another lady that does couponing on here that is your double. Looks like you, talks like you too. Do you have a sister that does couponing videos?
mecsonka221 No coupon sisters in my family.
I'm in Canada and it sucks that I had to pay $140 for 6 packages. 😭
And you pay less than $3 a package.
I agree with you. That is totally unfair and uncool!
I found them at vegansupply.ca.....I paid $43 for 4 packages,shipping included....cheapest ones I could find here.I live in Alberta.
Not sure where you are, but Essence of Life in Toronto sells one package for a little over $5.
Have you ever tried a soy curl right out of the bag?
+Aleah Meggs LOL Yes, my son double-dog dared me to eat one the first time I brought them home. I prefer them hydrated and covered in sauce. ;D
:)
