I was researching about making your own mascara and one site recommends filling a ziplock bag and then put all of the mascara in one corner and then pipe it into the tube. Hope this is a helpful tip! Thanks for the great content!
Heidi, you are such a great mentor. I used to live a life very similar to yours. I would grow huge gardens and can hundreds of jars of veggies. we also had chickens. I would butcher the extra roosters we hatched off. I also sewed for my three children. I even made pageant dresses for my daughters. I loved that lifestyle so very much!! That was before I became disabled. I've had 2 spinal surgeries, bilateral carpal tunnel surgeries and my right shoulder repaired. I sure miss doing all those things. I hope one day to be able to get back into that way of life. And yes, GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!!!!!! Thank you and love from Mississippi, Gale
spinal challenged here myself = those were the days; when we felt we could do it all ... currently i am reversing my ills by nature & very basic needs of lots of sleep and lots of clean water and lots of green wild weeds and fermenting veggies to eat = NOW i am not full time bedridden any longer - Nature Heals. Challenging to be so strict on self; but after years now i am reversing stage 4 cancer = Naturally. very painful though; but no others along the way are alive after 'modern' treatment. Much LOVE to us All ~
Ok I used cinnamon instead of lavendar and added squalane but your recipe is better than any store bought I've used including Hourglass and Ilia which just dry up in a month or less. Thank you!
Heidi, I just made my own mascara and eyeliner from your tutorial and I love it! I ordered the products you recommended and I made one mascara tube and one eye liner tube. They work better then what I've been using for years. The mascara I've been buying since I was a teen (and I am 60 now) is often dried up by the time I actually open the package when I buy it. Also, the formula seems to have changed and I've been having problems with itching eyes like I'm reacting to something they've changed about it. Then it flakes badly because it's so dry and I end up with bits in my eyes. Just not pleasant. So, I made some of your mascara and I used the same formula for eye liner and it works! I really like that it's not waterproof and that it's all natural. I've been pricing the over the counter all natural makeups and I just can't afford it and I really wanted to make my own. So, now I've made your mascara, eyeliner, and face powder. I dehydrated some strawberries to use for blush and lip color. Those and lotion are my next projects. This is so inspiring! Thank you very much for these great tutorials. Oh! My son recommended using a syringe that has a wide enough opening to insert into the tube to squeeze the mascara into the mascara tube. I used a baggie and clipped off the tip end and worked it into the bottle with the tiny funnel and a toothpick. I also used distilled water to thin it a bit.
So glad you are pleased with the mascara. That is what I need to do is get myself a special eyeliner tube so I can more easily use it as an eyeliner. I thin mine with colloidal silver or copper when needed, good for the lashes and helps preserve it too :)
The colloidal silver is one of those projects for me down the road. I've got my herb seeds and I'm starting to study flowers like you've talked about using so I can collect them. My next step is to make your skin lotion today.
Wow! This is great. I will have this on my wish list of things to make. I am trying so hard to keep up with all you are teaching me. My first priority is starting my herb garden and making some medicinal things. I am starting small and will build up slowly. My knees are not so great. God bless you Heidi and have a wonderful Sunday.
what a great mentor you are!! I love your lifestyle. Before becoming disabled I had my chickens and canned hundreds of jars of veggies out of my huge garden every year. Since having my back, hands and shoulder surgeries, I'm unable to do a lot of the things I used to do. But I do still want that lifestyle. I'm hoping that one day I will be able to live that style of life again. And yes, GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!!!!!! Love from Mississippi, Gale
Thanks Tessie! Catching up on your videos this morning while I work on some orders. I am enjoying them and love your ideas and what you have to say. Keep it up!
If I was going to be stranded on a deserted island I always said that one thing that I had to have was mascara. LOL I have been looking for an affordable, natural alternative. I've got to give this a try. Thank you for all that you share with us.
I am so happy that you did this. I rarely use mascara and am finding that when I do use the commercial stuff my eyes get dry and feel bad. It may be that I keep it too long because I use it so rarely. Thank you for your video.
Patty K said it for me! Right down to the not so great knees! Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful recipes and knowledge of all things good!
Heidi your amazing! I don't wear alot of makeup anymore due to the allergies in the products, but this is something I would definitely love to try out. Thanks for sharing your wonderful recipes and as you say your knowledge with us.
Yup! It's official!! YOURE A GENIUS AT EVERYTHING!!! 👩🎓👩🏻🏫👩🏻🌾 I actually already have the activated charcoal for water filtering in an emergency and a small bottle of the glycerin ANNNND I just ordered a bunch of different NOW brand essential oils. I wanna get some frankincense* too (not for my eyes) but I wanna get it from DoTerra* cause I think u said the NOW brand is diluted? I think I spelled those * wrong but hey, we can't ALL be geniuses! LOL 😂 I'll have to get with Robyn at BBH for the frankincense. Anyyy who....Thanks so much for sharing your gifts. You're the bestest! Side note: Good news for my brother in law...he's been moved out of ICU and into a long term rehab facility. He's still being watched closely but they have started rehab to get him mobile again!! Hallelujah!! Please keep him in your prayers. Love ya bunches. God Bless!
Thanks so much for this! It was great. I am so looking forward to trying this out--I'm sure it will change the course of my buying the stuff ever again. :)
Just curious, have you ever tried real lavender essential oil? I ask because many who have problems with lavender fragrance do not have problems with the real lavender. I was never one to get migraines but lavender, rose, and other floral scented candles and perfumes would make me feel ill and head-achy. I was hesitant on the floral oils for the same reason but as long as they are natural, they do not bother me at all. Even so, I think you should do good with sage or rosemary if you decide to try an essential oil in the mascara/
+Rain Country Homestead yes it's the essential oil. I don't have problems with other essential oils. Just seems odd because lavender is really good for headaches. Just not mine.
I will have to try! But I need to get some colloidal silver or try to make that first--like you showed. I am a huge fan of mascara--my eye lashes are blond so mascara makes me look alive🤗. If this works like you say this will be huge for me because I know store bought is filled with bad stuff. On step at a time with your help😇. Thanks so much!!!
You do not have to have the colloidal silver to get started, you can just use filtered water or aloe to get the right consistency for you. You may want to experiment with even smaller amounts until you find what works best for you :)
Rain Country Homestead can you clarify "filter" water. Some say distilled some say never. Some say "spring" or "purified" water. I am confused as to which one to use and when. Thanks.
Mascara is something I wore in hi school but, as an adult I don't. I do have a friend that is into natural. I will pass it also g to her. You have natural beauty.
Hi Heidi, love your video,, I would like to know how you make a WATERPROOF MASCARA,, this is really the only type I have use since it does not smudge in the pool or sun or being active, thanks, Kay:)
I have considered finding a way to make some since that use to be the only kind I would wear, sometimes my eyes water (or maybe I cry -haha) and I like something that stays put. This mascara does ok for that most of the time but would not hold up when swimming. Though there is a chance to make something natural, I really do not know at this point what one could add that would make it water proof and still be natural and easy to remove when needed.
All of them do. Anything you purchase going through any of those links helps. Even if you purchase something completely different, it still counts. I have my amazon bookmark set on a link that helps another channel so everything I buy through that link, they get a small percentage of the purchase :) Thank you for asking!
Sounds fun to try. ( We'll all recognize each other who are using this by our 'Tammy Faye' racoon eyes if caught in the rain or when we cry... 😂🤣 ... at least it isn't toxic!)
Here is a more updated video, I think I may have added to the recipe since the old video but cannot remember for sure: ruclips.net/video/UxZIIlMQGRs/видео.html
That was very interesting Heidi, I do like it very much, was wondering if the essential oil would cause any eye irritation. I have very sensitive eyes. But I think this is a wonder to do, gonna have to get my ingredients. Are there smaller amounts to buy, it would not be worth me buying all those huge jugs of items, But yes the charcoal is great if someone was to have ingested something not healthy for them but it is a double edge sword. Thank you for posting the Video, I was amazed " AGAIN"
Teresa, as far as the glycerin, I posted a link to NOW foods brand in as smaller bottle. I recommend having a good amount of charcoal and bentonite clay on hand, buying by the pound is more cost effective and they both have many uses. I have had no issues with the oils, but one would want to be careful if they are sensitive. Thanks Teresa!
I suppose I could try that, using the brush seems to work decent enough and does not make another thing for me to have to clean, but it wouldn't hurt to try and see if it does a better job. Thanks!
I quit mascara ages ago, they always burned my eyes after half an hour wearing any brand. the only one I could do was a clear one with cornflower extract - if I were keen on mascara I'd do some research on that, but good to have a recipe in case.
just thought of what I read when ever, but castor oil is supposed to be good for eye lashes and plain, no color added does just fine for me, if i want to do my eyelashes some good; I guess one could just dip a mascara brush into castor oil and apply.
I cannot remember if I mentioned it in this video, but I have a second mascara container that I have a mix of coconut, lavender, and rosemary oils for when I do not want to wear mascara and this is just for the sake of conditioning and stimulating growth. :)
I guess in this old video I was not using castor oil but I now put that in too. The glycerin has its own benefits though to at helping with hold and flexibility ruclips.net/video/UxZIIlMQGRs/видео.html
Hi...have you seen the web page Aliexpress? You can buy mascara Tubes, mini spatulas, containers for pouders ect... Its very cheap and usaly free shipping. And thank you for posting... I have so many things I have to try, first it's your rasin vinegar.... :-)
I think it would be just about as hard to get into the tube for that too. A pastry bag is an option but I do not want to mess around cleaning that too so I just keep using the wand to shove the mascara in there, I kind of have a rhythm now that doesn't take that long but some day I may just have to break down and try something different. :D
Not that I know of and I do not trust California to make that decision since everything there causes cancer! haha! Nope, they both have very beneficial properties and are also very detoxifying making them the opposite of causing cancer. :)
Here is my updated recipe, I cannot remember if I changed much in it but or not but I had needed to shoot a more clear video anyway: ruclips.net/video/UxZIIlMQGRs/видео.html
I have no idea why I watched this. I think I just find home made stuff interesting and fascinating :) I don't wear mascara lol and Mrs Worms wouldn't let me anywhere near here with anything chemical concoctions I made myself lol. Really interesting... but here's my question .... do you make Patrick (or does he make himself) an all natural beard balm/oil??? Now THAT I would make :)
I know a lot of people talk about that but I have never made him any, however, I am thinking if he was ever interested in it, the skin cream recipe I have would be a pretty good one as it is a good multi purpose cream for healing and conditioning :)

No, it does not turn your hair white. I have been using my homemade mascara for years and that has never happened

Thanks Heidi, I will go look up those items, cause it is SO hard for me to find mascara that I can wear.
how do i safely and thoroughly clean out my old tubes?
I have tried it and it is not an easy process, I finally gave up and bought the new empty tubes I show here and linked in the description box
Ok thank you, I will do that
Heidi, you could use a chopstick( preferably stainless steel) to fill your tube.
I suppose I could try that, using the brush seems to work decent enough and does not make another thing for me to have to clean, but it wouldn't hurt to try and see if it does a better job. Thanks!

Is the activated charcoal safe for the eyes?
Yes, I have been using this recipe for years with no problems
do you have a link for the silver please
Silver bars or colloidal silver?
@@RainCountryHomestead hi, originally I was asking for Colloidal silver, but then realised you made that urself. Thanks and Happy New Year

Does the essential oils burn your eyes? I think oil from sage would burn.
I have been wearing this mascara for a few years now and have never had a problem, I am sure if one got carried away with the oils it would though.
Is the glycerin from NOW non-gmo or food grade?
Yes amzn.to/3nn218k
