I have to Thank You from the bottom of my heart for all you do. I'm a 71 yo male whose Type-II Diabetes started when I was 65 and have been treated with Metformin from the beginning. My doctor (VA - due to numerous Medical Disabilities) has also offered me dietician help which only offers the USDA Health Guide which I now know it %100 upside down & sideways. Two months ago I started watching your PHD series and have also gone Carnivore as best I can, still some carbs. Regardless I have lost 30 lbs and feeling so much greater it's unbelievable. My goal is to drop another 30 lbs and I feel I can do it by continuing with the PHD routine. Again I Thank You for being open and honest about a disease that does NOT have to be a handicap any more.

MOST autoimmune disease is caused by the foods we have eaten since the birth of agriculture. It is, in my opinion, that it is the greatest mistake the human race has ever made thus far. We see the downstream effects of that today.

I'm a 79 year old female, living in Australia. I don't trust my doctor because it's extremely obvious that he doesn't know a real lot and relies mostly on writing prescriptions, he's the best I can do in a small town. I don't know how often I've had to find answers for myself. Thanks to a Jordan Peterson video I came upon the carnivore diet, went on to find Dr. Berry. I've been largely carnivore with additions that I've carefully researched. Plus I'm working out in a gym and with my adult son's help and lifting quite heavy weights and gaining muscle. It's slow going, I guess because I'm in a hurry, but I am losing weight which I desperately need to do. Without people like Dr. Berry I'd be on the road to ill health and a much shorter life. It's only been just over 2 months and life is getting better.

Dr Berry has always said “you didn’t put the weight on fast and you won’t take it off fast” & if you take it off fast you may just put it back on again. Take your time & let your body adjust as you go. I lost pretty much all my muscle after I began keto 5 years ago much to my shame. I have lower back issues and now osteo arthritis in my knees so not sure I’ll ever be able to do weight bearing exercises.

It feels great, doesn't it? I'm very happy for you. I used to hate seeing my reflection. After losing the weight I would catch a glimpse of myself in a shop window and be surprised that it was me. Don't forget the vitamin P and don't focus on the scales only; putting on muscle will increase weight, and you will notice a change in your body shape over time. I went low carb to remit my diabetes and the weight loss just happened without trying. I did stall for about 18 months and then stopped the cheese due to constipation and then lost the lost 8.5 lbs. I'm down to my ideal weight now after losing 44.5 lbs since October 2021. I've had to buy a heap of new clothes; thankfully I was able to buy a lot of summer tops second hand. And I've managed to get other clothes at a reasonable price. However I haven't had to buy new shoes, but I have noticed that I have to tighten the shoe laces a lot more than I used to. I can now wear necklaces that were too tight around my neck. And my hair isn't as grey as it was. I wish you all the best.

Don't take it now. Have brain fog I don't now. No energy. I do now to be a mom to 4 energetic children. I had horrible joint pain. I don't now. People still telling me you can't just eat meat! I am well today due to Dr.Berry's video. I was on low carb diet for 20 years which kept my HbA1c below 6.4. But March 2023 it went up to 6.9 which made me an official "Diabetes" . I had Rchop in 2018,2019 for DLBCL. My WBC was too low, Neutrophil was too low, my oncologist was talking about bone marrow transplant. Starting 2020 my serum iron became sky high, (2000)At my oncologist treatment center I had my blood removed (and discarded)to lower my serum iron-> did not do much help) Thyroid hormone is zero, 2022 I experienced gout in my hip.2023 ,AST,ALT was close tom200. I asked my GP to give me 3 months (not to give me RX of Thyroid med, and diabetic med. I went home started to look for the way to resolve my problems. On 3/23/2023 I started my carnivore diet. 9 weeks into the diet, I had my next blood work . I received the result on line, I could not believe my eyes, I thought it was a mistake, some kind of blood-mixed up. All my results were normal, (Except cholesterol) Iron was normal, WBC count, Neutrophyl count was normal, ALT/AST were normal range, HbA1C was 5.0 My oncologist , GP has no ears to hear about how I took care of my problems, but they are happy about the results. I THANK YOU Dr.Berry. Carnivore diet is my way of eating.

You had mentioned in a previous video that Red blood cells appear to live longer with this WOE. When my Dr. wanted to put me on statins, I told her I would try "diet and exercise". But really I just made sure to move every day, continue more strict KETO and donated blood every 60 days. Next checkup my LDL (which was the only thing "high" about my cholesterol) went down from 230 mg/dL to 145 mg/dL and she still asked me to take it. I sent her a message that I brought it down 85 points in 6 months so no Thanks. We could re-visit it at my next check-up. So donation center here I come 1 week before my appointment. We will see what happens.

I just came up with a really great snack: cook some scale fish (not the bottom feeders) in butter and break the fish up into bite size pieces. Add good healthy salt to taste and some more butter and put this into a container in the fridge. Then when you feel like a snack, just grab that! So far as the video is concerned, many thanks to those asking questions. This is how we learn as a community and how we grow as a community. We have so many things trying to convince us to eat bad and we have to remember that we eat to live, not live to eat. (comment date June 8, 2024)

My cognitive dissonance is not because I believe in the recommendations of the AMA, etc., but because as a lifetime gardener, it does not feel right to hear someone say "plants are trying to kill you" or "all plants are poisonous". I've been happily eating meat my whole life, but when I eat freshly harvested vegetables from my garden I truly believe they do provide nutrition and anti-oxidants and other benefits. There certainly are medicinal plants as well. No doubt some plants cause some problems in some people, but the real problem, as you have said, is all the processed junk that is the biggest part of the SAD. If those did not exist, peoples' general health would be so much better that a diet of meat AND vegetables would probably be fine for most people. Thanks for all your great information, Dr. Berry. I've been watching your videos for many, many years.

@@KZ-pt5qk Yes, since all vegetables were created in a lab through the gmo process, it's clear that we should be eating no carbs from the grocery store. They not only have chemicals on and in them, but they are nutrient deficient due to poor soil.

@@tallcedars2310Have you ever heard of heirloom vegetables? Those are varieties whose seeds have been saved for generations since before GMO technology even existed! Those veg have only been changed by the long process of selective breeding and saving seed of desirable plants to plant another year. Aka : the way agriculture and gardening were done for most of history. As for soil quality, nature based amendments go a long way to correcting what is wrong with the soil, along with live cover crops that get tilled into the soil, and mulches. It may take a couple years, but the soil will improve from day one treated this way.

As to soil quality, using nature based ingredients to amend the soil will go a long way to correct that, over a few years. But don't be afraid to start, soil starts improving from day one of treated that way. Also live cover crops turned under before planting a new garden help reintroduce many healthy factors that commercial fertilizers let break down. Also, avoid toxic bug control methods.

@@joycebrewer4150 When I gardened I tried heirloom seeds and found produce was no different. This was due to plants being man-made from thousands of years ago. The tomato was the size of berry and kale, broccoli, cauliflower and a few other vegetables were created from parts of the wild mustard plant. About a decade ago science was putting fish dna into tomato plants, but I can't recall why. Science has made vegetables and fruits far bigger, colorful and sweeter than their original fruits, this actually turns me off these produce. But if you are alright with all this, that's fine. My health depends on natural whole food with the carnivore diet as I over consumed plants, and some commercial products as well, that have made me very sick. Carnivore is turning this around for me and I love the healing power of meat.

If you are interested in creating soil from dirt naturally, have a look at Gabe Brown's video's on regenerative farming. He also wrote the book Dirt to Soil that is very enlightening. If one is curious about how this is done, Jeff Lowenfels wrote several books. The ones I have are Teaming With Nutrients and Teaming With Microbes, that are written for the common person and easy to comprehend.

Down about 30 pounds in 5 weeks. Probably 6 weeks now. About 95% carnivore. Have some carbs one or two days a week mainly because my wife isn't on board yet, and it's difficult and my 4 year old loves eating pb&j with his dad. Still feel better than I have in years. Almost immediately notice the carbs when I have them. Feel horrible for awhile, bloated and lazy.

Listening to this whilst smelling slow cooking beef bolar blade in a crockpot and pork shoulder in the oven. This is the first time I've ever cooked a pork roast and I'm hoping that the crackling turns out nice.

    • @SpontaneousMiracles

Keep the pork uncovered in the fridge overnight before you put it in the oven pat it down with paper towel or something to take away and remaining moistures before putting it in the oven Olive oil and alot of salt makes the best crackling. Crack the oven towards the end of cooking to really hot heat to make the skin crackle

@@SpontaneousMiracles Hi there. Thank you for your suggestion. My pork turned out lovely and the crackling was delicious (I had trouble stopping myself eating it). I left it out of the fridge uncovered for about 90 minutes or longer and made sure it was dry. I melted some lard and smeared that over the skin and then rubbed with himalayan salt. The recipe I was using had 2 onions halved and a bulb of garlic with 2 cups of water and the pork rested on the halved onions. After it was cooked I blended the liquid, onions and garlic and it made a scrumptious gravy. I started with the oven 200 C fan forced and turned it down to 150 C once I placed the meat in and cooked for 2.5 hours and then ramped it up to 220 C for about 40 minutes. I left the netting on and cut it off the top section before I did the last part, oh and I covered the meat ends with foil. Once I removed it I covered it with foil for 30 minutes. It gave me 10 meals of between 120 and 130 gms each so worked out at about AU$2 a portion. I wouldn't want to be cooking it in the middle of summer though.

Can't binge on bowls of salty ground beef & eggs... extremely satiating quickly. If there was nothing else in our family's house but that, I could quickly lose the last 15 lbs (again), but I cannot control all what's in our house. I'm the only one trying to do Carnivore & am still failing except for a day here and there are Carnivore except for tea with chocolate LMNT & heavy cream. But I also got the fizzy LMNT cans of electrolytes, so tasty & fun that I usually have 3 in a day or more. I think I'll wait on buying more, and I could get the electrolytes capsules again to avoid the sweet flavors that make me eat more often than my goal of 1-2 times a day.
    Trying to do Intermittent fasting.

Doc, love ya, but to get to the place where I could get out of diabetes, back to eating keto on the way to carnovore, Mounjaro has been a miracle drug: No more obsessing over food, not remembering to eat until my stomach growled, and being able to stop the evening-long grazing. Clinically, morbidly Obese people wouldn’t be obese if we didn’t have the aforementioned compulsions. As a lifelong sugar addict (getting on and off the wagon for the last 30 years), Mounjaro cured that addiction and made keto possible. I went off the Mounjaro after losing 80 lbs (still had 50 to go), and I fell off the wagon during a highly stressful several months. Went back on Mounjaro and it was harder to quit the sugar, but kept at it and I will stay on the Mounjaro until I reach goal weight. I am scheduling that to coincide with going full carno.
