      The check with the black bishop on h2 would be harmless because White can simply move the king to h1, leaving the bishop vulnerable on h2 without any further threats. Kasparov avoided giving an ineffective check at that moment. However, a few moves later, he did give the check on h2, but under more favorable circumstances.
