SO much fun to have this reverie about Rhinebeck. I've never been able to go, (seems that I'm always directing an opera in October...) so your experience was a vicarious joy. As always, your yarn choices are so resonant with me! And how am I? Well... ......knit, knit, knit. I am trying to focus on that, as well as making warm yummy meals for family.I light candles, eat a calming dinner, and then knit until my eyes slam shut. Many hugs to you-- and your dear family. Your time with your Mom is so special; I had a very close relationship with my Mom too. OH-- and I must send you a picture of the softest, best, most lovely bandana that I made with the cashmere from POSH, that I won in your give-away. It's Bliss!!!
Love the color additions to your Stephen west shawl, it is very bohemian :). and I totally understand about the effect nature has on one. After 50 years in Los Angeles we moved six years ago to Couer d"Alene Idaho. The environment is so soothing, the people kind, and my life is so much richer, you don't realize how crazy life is until you try something different. The only issue is that even though we have Canada's weather, we have no knit shops left after the last few years. :(
Love your podcasts, I hope my niece and I can go to Rhinebeck next year, we have been trying for a couple of years now. I will love seeing the beautiful sheep and yarns first hand. Best wishes from Portsmouth, NH. You are an inspiration, I have learned so much from you!
How very wonderful it was to (finally!) meet you in person. I can hardly say how much I enjoy spending time with you here--there is warmth and inspiration flowing like a river around you. I'm feeling very, very lucky to be a knitter right now, too, and endlessly thankful for these festivals where we can gather together and celebrate each other and our shared passion. Thank you for being so, well, so lovely! xoxo
Thank you for sharing your experience at NY Sheep and Wool. I have some serious FOMO going on! It’s so nice that you got to share the experience with your mom and sister ❤.
OMG I have the exact same perfect blend alpaca I'm planning to hold with ito mohair. I've also used it in another project with mohair and it didnt stretch or grow at all, just perfect drape.
Oooh I wish I would have run into you. I’m with you in that I too find myself daydreaming about buying a farmette! Oh aren’t Jackie and Carmen the sweetest?
I am one of the lucky of the luckiest. Not only are there multiple yarn shops within an hour of me, I'm an hour from Rhinebeck, an hour from the Southern Adirondack festival, 2 hours from the one happening at the Big E in western MA this coming weekend, 2 hours from Cummington in the spring, and only 3 hours from VTS&W. Sad that The Perfect Blend will be closing at the end of the year (the owner is retiring per the email announcement). I count them as one of my LYSs since they are so close by.
Botanical Yarn is beautiful yarn, and Sophie is so great - was the shawl with the scalloped edges you were wondering about the Audria Shawl? I know Sophie had some beautiful kits for it before.

Oh my heavens- lucky you!!! How wonderful! Mary of the perfect blend mentioned that the shop is for sale! xoxo

Oh, yes, that might be the one- running to Ravelry:) Thank you!
FYI, the owner of The Perfect Blend is retiring. Unless something changes, the store will close by end of year.
The shop is for sale with interest, so hopefully it will remain open!
