A hunger never satisfied I can’t keep you off my mind Dancing, moving, passing time Lost worlds and endless nights I held you at a distance then So i could keep you sacred now I watched the veins under my skin Moving, changing from blue to red Those colors battle to repent Fighting some kind of punishment For loving you The deathless tell me Go on, stay low Grow old and let your hair grow In sleep there is no sorrow Slowly prolonging a cruel fate For loving you They hear everything They glow with their own light They sing out your name A thousand times a night Generations of sadness Inbred and under fire In a thousand languages A word for this desire For loving you
Seems like a story about someone letting go of love because they became a vampire. You're now cursed with immortality, outliving who ever you loved, and you're punished by always having them in your memory. "Generations of sadness"
She's really evolved a lot over the past few years. I saw her live in September 2012 for the first time at a small bar, and then recently saw her again this past May of 2016 (at a considerably larger venue) she was SO much more confident onstage; her sound had also developed in a lot of interesting ways. I hadn't actually listened to this album prior to seeing that recent show, so I barely knew any of the new songs, but I've gotten around to it and really liked what I've heard. She had me hooked with Apokalypsis-she's something special.
I love the use of the vocal harmonizer on this, it is such a brilliant song! This one haunted me all summer, perfect for driving at 11 p.m., utter night music!
Hah, no kidding. I was fiddling with my headphone jack to make sure it was connected properly. What is she doing, channeling Tom Rapp from Pearls Before Swine?
I thought the same exact thing, the speech impediment is caused by vampire teeth, because this is taking place in a dream where she became a vampire like creature. That's why it's pronounced, she's just discovering it.
+Jezia Labidi thats the polyphonic octave generator or combo with one of her other effects. you can hear the downpitched voice in the background. The consonants are "dragged" as the pitch is shifted and makes it sound like she has a lisp. Vampire-fangs are a good analogy but i very much doubt she puts in pastic teeth to sing this song....
The riff sounds totally like Electric Wizard's "Witchcult Today," "Satanic Rites of Drugula," or "Wizard in Black." I like all the distortion, but not my favorite from Abyss.
Thalamea7 Yeah, I love Abyss all the way through and I think she finally surpassed Apokalypsis, but "Color of Blood" kind of bothers me because of that.
Thalamea7 I think she used/uses weird vocal delays, reverb, and other altering effects for an odd tonality. She also screams all crazy and so it's not too hard to believe she could try to sing with a lisp in order to create a more emotional effect or something.
Ocean Sage I would respectfully disagree. Although I can hear the riff from Satanic Rites, to me this came off as one of the strongest tracks on the record (my personal favorite actually). The entire track just seems to lumber along at an excruciating pace and the drum build just seems to hit at the perfect time for me. I saw your comment on Anthony Fantano's channel and checked the K. Phillips track by comparison and although I see the cover aspect of the song, I just feel like she really did it justice with the vocals. The feedback portion during the last half of the track feels really well-controlled and subtle for what it becomes by the end. I have to partially credit that to the influence brought in by Russian Circles, but for me it just really glues everything together. I got to see her when she came to Nashville with Pain is Beauty and I can't wait to see her again in September...really hoping she plays this track at really extreme volume haha. Cheers!
train wreck i dont understand your trash opinion. No one asked for it. And btw if you dont like her why come to her music? Just to annoy those who love her? Wow. What an intelligence. 😂
A hunger never satisfied
I can’t keep you off my mind
Dancing, moving, passing time
Lost worlds and endless nights
I held you at a distance then
So i could keep you sacred now
I watched the veins under my skin
Moving, changing from blue to red
Those colors battle to repent
Fighting some kind of punishment
For loving you
The deathless tell me
Go on, stay low
Grow old and let your hair grow
In sleep there is no sorrow
Slowly prolonging a cruel fate
For loving you
They hear everything
They glow with their own light
They sing out your name
A thousand times a night
Generations of sadness
Inbred and under fire
In a thousand languages
A word for this desire
For loving you
cursedravenZA tak👍
Do you know what the song is about? Cause I don't get it.

"Generations of sadness"
@@Saru-yr3qk Or, it is something a little more grounded and real.
Chelsea Wolfe suffers from sleep paralysis, in which she's haunted by apparitions. This song is about her communication with them.
Probably my second favorite behind Feral Love. This song is very underrated.
I love her haunting style. very captivating
My dear friend made me discover this artist. We always put this one and mer in his car. Sadly he passed away and just rediscover this song...
Listening to this with Bose is an out of body experience, not gonna lie.
One of the best musicians alive today. Period
PeriodTTT!!!!
Never in my life I had thought a lisp would make me get the chills, I love this song so much
Aye i noticed that too, yet she doesnt have one in any other song ive heard
@@97BEHEMOTH Vampire teeth bruv

This is my favourite track in this OUTSTANDING album. I absolutely love the lyrics. They set such an atmosphere.
this one is my favorite in this album

that distortion is wonderfully nasty
I enjoy her singing melodies on this record! !
Seeing her in Seattle, hoping she will do this one
This woman is a GODDESS!
So good. And such a refreshing sound.
Such a powerful song!
Love the Novocaine drip... Best track on the album.
Wenn ich dies höre, kommen mir Tränen in die Augen! Danke Chelsea!
BTW:
This is a half cover of Jesse K Philips track "Arteries"
Worth checking out.
pelle d'oca cazzo ,pelle d'oca !
sounds like she just had a few shots of ... novocaine, but this album overall is incredi-fucking-ble!
Foda demais!
This is a great song. Sounds like she's wearing a retainer.
Hah, no kidding. I was fiddling with my headphone jack to make sure it was connected properly. What is she doing, channeling Tom Rapp from Pearls Before Swine?
Lovely!!!!
I've found Beauty on it's own pure level-
did she sing this one with fangs in ? ....
amazing.
🦇
The eeriesht lishp I've ever heard. Shpine-chilling
Love it
The best record, for me
At the beginning she sounds a bit like Florence. Love the song!
🤨
Chelsea Wolfe - The Queen of Darkness.
I love how she's faking a vampire accent with the way she can't pronounce some letters like " s " :D
I thought the same exact thing, the speech impediment is caused by vampire teeth, because this is taking place in a dream where she became a vampire like creature. That's why it's pronounced, she's just discovering it.
i love it ! nice to know someone else tried to understand it , instead of judging her and classifying her as retarded
me too
+Jezia Labidi That's actually making the song more fun for me! Thank you.

Epic song.
My 6-year-old sons' commentary was, that she sounds like Sid from Ice Age. Children are brutally honest. He likes the song anyways ; )
I know this comment is old, but I can't unhear it now 😂
I always think she is singing with a mouth full of blood
¡Holi amigos!
Red times three 😂
The riff sounds totally like Electric Wizard's "Witchcult Today," "Satanic Rites of Drugula," or "Wizard in Black." I like all the distortion, but not my favorite from Abyss.
Ocean Sage the way she sings on that one, is a little bit weird...
Thalamea7 Yeah, I love Abyss all the way through and I think she finally surpassed Apokalypsis, but "Color of Blood" kind of bothers me because of that.
i love abyss too...but on that song she sounds like she is lispin or something... and i wonder why...

Twilight inspired?
Sounds like Reverend Bizarre’s Strange Horizon
To sound like that did she purposely put in her mouth prop teeth of a red blood feeding vampire?…or wolfe?…
Ladies And Gentlemen Welcome No Man’s Land In London For My Movie Biohazard Overwatch It’s Going To Be A Bloody Massacre
sopinha the massa, a tipa
Love this song, but the fake lisp drives me absolutely crazy. Wish I could un-hear it...
something in her mouth ?
Would be better if she didn't sound like 'his
I dont understand the obsession, lo-fang is waaaaaay better.

Well, not every music/musician for everyone!
