I am happy with what we got, but I agree that there should be more experiences like Dark Messiah. I played Elderborn a while ago and I felt like that game was a rather similar experience to Dark Messiah, I had my fun with it!

The gameplay REALLY is where it's at! You will most definitely enjoy the PC version of the game, as the XBOX 360 version came with certain limitations. For instance in the single player, you could only pick a certain class and you leveled up automatically, while the PC version of the game, lets you mix and match abilities of your choosing without any set classes in the game. I sadly do not know much about the multiplayer on console, I heard the lobbies were smaller, understandably so! But largely it should have been relatively similar. such a shame there are no bots on Dark Messiah's multiplayer, more games need bots, they are the silly little computer friends who will always play the multiplayer game with you regardless of how dead it is.
Most people played the demo version. Once I was able to buy the full version, there was no one online even back then. I vaguely remember there being enough players for a few matches and it was similar to PVK2. Definitely felt like a Source Engine game but no one gave it a chance. Story mode was pretty great. The Darkness met a similar fate
Funny that you mention that game, The Darkness is one of my favourites of the PS3 generation! Might look into that one in the near future too, but I am very sure that the online component of it will be nigh impossible to revive, unless I can find a server emulator over RPCS3 or the like 🤔
I remember how melee priest and warrior were so fcking overpowered in this. The only way to counter either is shield bash, 2 nades to face, or manage to hit 3 flaming orb nades at the same time which is quite a pain. Ass-ass-in is also quite an pain in the ass with how he can spam bombs while invisible.
