It makes sense that the first Black settlers in Florida, USA were Afro Caribbean migrants from the British West Indies, and in particular, the Bahamas. North America and in particular the United States of America (and possibly Canada) has a close relationship with the Caribbean. America has purchased many items from the West Indies such as sugar and molasses, as well as enslaved Blacks. In return the Caribbean has received from the USA manufactured goods as well as lumber. Commerce between North America and the Caribbean has proved to positive and still remains so till the present day.
You are forgetting a lot of African Americans from the south Georgia and North Florida was there at the same time as the Bahamians. African Americans was there cause they built the railroads
@@abrahamisaacmuciusiii9192 my fault I meant to say the Bahamians was in miami before the Afro-Americans. Them and the native American I forgot what tribe but were the first settlers there
The Native American Tribe you're referring to are the Seminole people. African American men, women, and children who were enslaved in Georgia and South Carolina ran away from bondage and traveled further down south into the state of Florida. When they got there the US state of Florida was under colonization by Spanish Europeans. The Spanish Crown allowed those American Blacks to stay there and some of them joined the Seminoles and had children with them or they lived in their own communities apart from the Spaniards and Seminoles. There's actually a huge amount of history of African American slaves running away to Florida and Seminole Native Americans, as well as Spaniards helping them fight against European Americans whose ancestors came from the United Kingdom (England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales). You see the powerful Whites in Georgia and South Carolina joined together with Native American allies from the Cherokee and Creek tribes for the sole purpose of capturing the runaway slaves and killing the Seminole and Spaniards. That is the reason why the US government ordered Spain to leave North America. The descendants of British North America had a deep hatred for Spanish North America because Spain made it easy for African slaves to become free and grow to great prominence. Another example is the USA fighting Mexico along the US-Mexico border. Mexican wagoners who were trading products in Texas and Louisiana took African Americans who were enslaved to freedom in Mexico. In return of these benevolent favors, African American US Army soldiers went to Mexico and helped them defeat the French soldiers who occupied Mexico. I believe these events are the reason why the United States of America purposely pitted African Americans against Latinos. American Whites spreaded false lies about African Americans all over the world especially in Hispanic America. This is why some Latinos speak ignorantly of African Americans.
@@abrahamisaacmuciusiii9192 your comment is spot on. You are right about the Seminole but the tribe that I found bout couldn't put my finger on it earlier was the Tequesta tribe. They were in the Miami-Dade area along with the Bahamians and Seminole but everything you said was right. Also look how they also divide the Asians and African Americans. Asians and Latinos are also ppl of color. Overall this is just a sad world we living in. I try to stay positive but overall how ppl treat others and also mistreat animals just sad
Wow 1st Time Ever Me Vacationing Out To Miami Back In 04/2019 year B4 The Pandemic i rented a Air B&B out There On Oak St. The Great Folks I Rented It From We're Mixed White & Bahamians Great Ppl i Enjoyed It Out There. Miss it I Thought They Were Jamaican or Haitian mixed till I seen a flag 🇧🇸 like this on there vehicle but didn't bother to look it up but as I returned I ask this Guyanese co-worker of mines what flag 🇧🇸 nationality this was but he told me another Carribean nationality but maybe cause I missed out a color but as I reflect the black also had the same color but was unconscious to ask wow smh my best vacation so far I really thinking about moving out there
You are all wrong. Africans did not settle here in South Florida and the Caribbean they were enslaved and brought has anybody here heard about the Taino, the a hatuey, now to get into Florida the Seminole tribe is not a native tribe of Florida. Seminole is a Cherokee word for runaway. Before the Seminoles came to Florida and formed the tribe we had the calusa, tequesta, tequesta and two other Northern Florida native tribes that I can't remember.
Thanks for your info , it’s pros & cons some did actually come here thru import export but there are significant few that were not enslaved in fact never been enslaved , May some struggle yes but some were natives to the land that were already here or migrated here . Build land , business, politics & more.
Very true the first settler of Miami before it was incorporated were people from South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, (Seminole)and the town was already built be before Henry Flagler and any immigrants came , all of Florida was secede back to the union after the civil war, and the real history of miami was rewritten, the original builder of Miami were so called black Americans who were artisan and craftsmen who were from SC, ga and Alabama. The Caribbean is not known at all for it's architecture the American south was known for it's old world architecture. For instance, look at Charleston SC, savannah, Georgia and mobile Alabama and it literally Mirrors coconut Grove and overtown.
