Hi Matt, I just wanted to thank you very much for the video. With you step by step instruction I completed the repair on the dryer my self and saved $300. It took me about 30 minutes. If I ever have the pleasure to meet you in person I will buy you a drink. Thanks again for everything Greg
Thanks a million - dead dryer and wife wanted to replace - your walk through got the front panel of and lo and behold the belt snapped - great vid and much appreciated
Hot damn. This video is outstanding. When I took my dryer apart, the upper housing was literally in pieces. I bought the parts and had no problem putting it all back together. And...surprise...no parts left over and the dryer worked. My wife is impressed. Thanks much for this detailed video.

Thank you so much for helping me to fix my screeching dryer! The parts cost me around 50 bucks, but without this video it would have been much more to get a repair person. All I had to do was watch the video a few times. Thanks again!

Very well done video. I like the little notifications that y'all made pop up to warm about sharp edges or heavy lifting. I have this exact dryer and the noise is absolutely horrible. So bad that it hurts our ears!
This video was very helpful to me in my fixing the bad squeak in my GE dryer. After going to the GE website and identifying the correct parts, I was able to find them locally and finish the repair in a few hours. Thank you to the folks who made this video.

I spent $75 for a repair person to tell me I need to replace the main power board because my dryer randomly stops running when my clothes wet, relay issue. He wants $400 for new main power board and $150 trip and labor plus tax. If just the main power board needs to replace, I think I would like to try to DYI myself but don't know how to open the top. This video helps me. If I can take out the main power board, I will order the part.
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and making this an easy fix. Saved me a couple hundred bucks by not having to call a repair man.

Great video. Made it easy to repair my dryer. One thing I noticed, didn't seem to sweep up the dust. Maybe just didn't show that. When I took mine apart, there was a huge amount of dust that fell out. I swept out everything I could reach. Don't forget to clean the vent coming out of the dryer while you have the chance. Mine is stacked on the washer, so I had easy access while the dryer was down.

A+ A+ A+ -- Great video and easy to follow guide. I was going to buy a new dryer until I found this video. I purchased the parts off Amazon for about $50 and it works like new. My top housing unit was in worse shape than this one in the video.

Fantastic video...however I didn't do my homework and about half way through the job (feeling pretty good about myself) I noticed that the upper housing I had purchased was not the correct part even though it had stated it was compatible with ge dryers...nevertheless the correct part is on the way and the job will be done thanks to you.
Very helpful video. I have found this is the same problem I am having. Ordered the parts just now and will update my post once they arrive and I complete the repair. Thank you very much!!!

My dryer is making the EXACT SAME noise. I’ll be ordering the parts very soon. Is the grinding causing the sort of burnt smell in the dryer? It began around the same time as the noise. Also, the corner on the inside has caught a washcloth or two between the inside the door area. I’ve easily pulled them free but am wondering if this what caused it.
The dryer part (glider rectangular glider thingies & top) assembly came today. I ordered it a day or so after my post. The first one came in the mail but was the wrong part number, not to mention the box was destroyed & the nib that holds the light onto the front was broken. I was livid because it arrived destroyed as well as late. I complained with Amazon. I really, really, really drove in the point that the should have been ashamed to leave a box in the shape that one was in. It’s been a little over two weeks since I’ve been able to do laundry. 😤😡🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ I had to vacuum the inside of the dryer since the exhaust pipe wasn’t screwed in when it was bought & installed. Thanks to this video & others, all the lint in the dryer was removed using a circular brush & the shop vac. Thank you for the video. Would you mind doing a video that includes how to remove & replace the temp sensors. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
excellent video thank you, can you help me with another problem that my dryer shows: "clean lint filter" I have cleaned everything but maybe it refers to changing a sensor

Very helpful video. Ours was squeaking whenever we had a heavy load. Replaced the idler pulley and everything you did in this video. Noticed one of the glides was completely gone. Bought new OEM glides per this video. I am guessing when we got a heavy load the drum was rubbing against the plastic upper support vs the plastic glide and that was likely the squeaking. (or it could have been the idler). Next time we have a heavy load I guess we'll see. If it's still squeaking then it is likely the bearing itself. (and back apart it will come)

Great video man ! Thanks ! So I did just that in the video and now my drum don’t spin, when it did before ….. any advice ? It will spin by hand and sounds like it rolls right but idk
Thank you for the video. My dryer was squeaking and it needed the same repairs as the video. I ordered the parts on Amazon and repaired it. I wish I wouldn't have put it off so long such that I may have only needed to change the glides. thanks again.

Thank you so much for providing this video for the novice dyi’r. Based on what you showed us I took it upon myself to see if I could do this job. But apparently I ordered the wrong part from Amazon. I just observed that you are using the exact part that I need. Can you please provide the part number that you’re using in this video? Thanks again so much for sharing your knowledge with us.
Great video, thanks! Any chance you can advise on that same exact model where the drum starts rolling when I close the door, even with the display panel blank?

I have a GE Profile dryer model # DPVH880EJ0WW. I thought this would be a great video and it still can be for me if I could get inside it. Mine is flush with no screws. How do I get into it? Does the front with the controls pop off? It seems like its not screwed in but I didn't want to force it.

Great video! I think I have the same GE dryer...having problems with it stopping a few minutes into the cycle. (Especially with the heavier white (cotton) loads.) It’s about eight years old, I end up re-starting it several time before it will completely dry the load. Cleaned out the lent, it helped some but it did not solve the problem. I’m thinking I should try taking it apart to really get at the hard to reach lent. Do you have any other suggestions /or thoughts as to what might be the solution?

hi matt(or whomever answers comments, lol), i have this same dryer(hand-me-down from previous homeowner) and i notice there's always a "clean lint filter" light thats on but the lint filter is clean is that an issue or does it always say that? another thing i want to point out is it doesn't dry our clothes all the way even when i leave it on for hours..so i pulled the dryer out and find ALOT of lint in the dryer duct and when i reach into the hole of the dryer i was able to pull out a scary amount of dryer lint. i vacuumed all the lint i can and started the dryer. now i smell smoke and im too scared to use the dryer. after watching your video i want to take the front panel off and see if i can vacuum out the lower housing and whatever i can from the dryer because i can see alot of lint in there from the front. i havent found where the exhaust vent goes yet but im sure theres a ton of lint in there as well. any idea what i should do?

Hi, thanks for the video. I have a question. My girlfriend has a GE dryer. Not like the one in the video. It is squeaking in the front panel at the drum plastic shims. I ordered new ones last night. My question is, it says that whole assembly is a bearing in there somewhere? How do I know it is the bearing or the drum shims? Other than changing the shims and it still squeaks bad? I had it apart quick last night and the drum shims are shot for one thing I see wrong. Any help appreciated. thanks

I read somewhere that the squealing drum could be bearings around the drum or the rear bearing. I'm guessing you can feel if the problem is in that cover.

I performed that repair this weekend, opened up the device and found that same problem. Ordered the parts from an online appliance parts store and repaired the dryer. Quick question, to avoid the fron top drum housing bearing from damaging and to have only the gliders damaged, how often do you recommend we check to have the gliders replaced?
Based on 1-3 loads per day they should be replaced every 5 years. I had this problem, but instead of replacing the worn out plastic part, I just installed 2 rollers under the front part of the drum, and it has been running fine for years.
Good Job You replaced the drum rollers. The bearings were probably bad in the rollers. Some units have drum glides and some have drum rollers. Hi Matt, I just wanted to thank you very much for the video. With you step by step instruction I completed the repair on the dryer my self and saved $300. It took me about 30 minutes. If I ever have the pleasure to meet you in person I will buy you a drink. Thanks again for everything Greg
We'll relay the message to Matt :) Thank you for watching our videos & sharing your experience with us - great job on the repair!

Just got the part from Amazon today, installed in less than hour. Smooth like silk, no screech! Thanks!!!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and making this an easy fix. Saved me a couple hundred bucks by not having to call a repair man.

This was awesome! Got it all done step by step watching this. Thank you!
Great tip!
Thank you so very much My dryer is killing me with the loud squealing noise and now I have the knowledge to fix it myself...

Awesome video. I must say that that part would never need to be replaced on an old Kenmore brown top dryer (because it's metal, instead of plastic).

Fantastic video...however I didn't do my homework and about half way through the job (feeling pretty good about myself) I noticed that the upper housing I had purchased was not the correct part even though it had stated it was compatible with ge dryers...nevertheless the correct part is on the way and the job will be done thanks to you.

I still use this video to fix the noise on my dryer thanks again!
excellent video thank you, can you help me with another problem that my dryer shows: "clean lint filter" I have cleaned everything but maybe it refers to changing a sensor

With the front off can you reach the pulleys to put silicone on them? TY
Thank you for the video. My dryer was squeaking and it needed the same repairs as the video. I ordered the parts on Amazon and repaired it. I wish I wouldn't have put it off so long such that I may have only needed to change the glides. thanks again.

Where can I find this part. As well as the lower blower cover.
Thank you so much for the info. Such an easy fix. Truly appreciate your video.

How often should you replace the bearing slides

I have a GE Profile dryer model # DPVH880EJ0WW. I thought this would be a great video and it still can be for me if I could get inside it. Mine is flush with no screws. How do I get into it? Does the front with the controls pop off? It seems like its not screwed in but I didn't want to force it.

But why does that happen? Is the belt off-center causing it to rub on that upper housing?

Great video! I think I have the same GE dryer...having problems with it stopping a few minutes into the cycle. (Especially with the heavier white (cotton) loads.) It’s about eight years old, I end up re-starting it several time before it will completely dry the load. Cleaned out the lent, it helped some but it did not solve the problem. I’m thinking I should try taking it apart to really get at the hard to reach lent. Do you have any other suggestions /or thoughts as to what might be the solution?

Thanks for the video! Really helped me out. I did have some trouble seating the front panel back on, had to wrestle with the drum a bit from the back. Not quite sure what I did to make it fit. Any recommendations for the future?

Great video thanks
hi matt(or whomever answers comments, lol), i have this same dryer(hand-me-down from previous homeowner) and i notice there's always a "clean lint filter" light thats on but the lint filter is clean is that an issue or does it always say that?
another thing i want to point out is it doesn't dry our clothes all the way even when i leave it on for hours..so i pulled the dryer out and find ALOT of lint in the dryer duct and when i reach into the hole of the dryer i was able to pull out a scary amount of dryer lint. i vacuumed all the lint i can and started the dryer. now i smell smoke and im too scared to use the dryer. after watching your video i want to take the front panel off and see if i can vacuum out the lower housing and whatever i can from the dryer because i can see alot of lint in there from the front. i havent found where the exhaust vent goes yet but im sure theres a ton of lint in there as well. any idea what i should do?

Do you recommend putting any type of grease or lubricant on the drum roller where it meets the front piece? Would this help avoid similar problems in the future?

I had this problem, but instead of replacing the worn out plastic part, I just installed 2 rollers under the front part of the drum, and it has been running fine for years.
Good Job
