Great video. My grandson and I are working on a 63 Mercury 100. I had to replace the lower door pillars as well. I purchased them through Carolina Classics. I had some trouble fitting them in. My grandson has a channel called 63 Mercury! where the replacement of the lower door pillars was covered. Like yours it is meant to be educational. Once again great videos.

Great Video - Would love to see how you handle the steps. I have a 62 that looks very similar rust-wise. Novice to welding, but going to give it a shot.
The steps were a breeze, should have included it but didn't because they were about as easy as it gets. Wish I would have now knowing you were interested. As for welding, it's not hard hard by any means, just takes practice. Even a flux core welder can get you great welds if you practice, practice, practice, that's the key. I had never welded in my life up until about 4 years ago (started on flux) and now I can hold my own thanks to practice. Then you get addicted, start looking for reasons to weld anything. Best of luck John!

joethepirate1 Right on man! Thanks for the sub! Yeah I debated leaving the unibody as it is. They are getting hard to find, but when I found out all I had to do was cut the steps, and bed out (both of which were bad) I decided to go for it! I can always weld new ones in later and slide a original frame back under if I want to go back to stock, it's like these two were made for each other. Hell yeah! I love going to GG. My truck is a bit too new for it, but, I can still walk around and enjoy a beer. I love that yours is a uni. It's a unique swap and the CV stuff just makes it cooler, IMO.
@@rivercity3908 Yeah, I actually just found it. Website errored out and thought maybe they closed down. They also specifically say the cab mounts DON'T work on the unibody. Did only the parts from the kit that you showed fit? Thanks for the fast reply
Cody Schlickbernd ahhhhh that’s right. Man that was too many beers ago brother haha. This was almost 4 years ago, the truck is totally different now. Ended up putting it on a 2008 Police Interceptor frame and running gear (made a whole video series on it) it’s a blast!
Thank you! I don't have a shop crane, so I did one side at a time. If you remove the front and rear cab mounting bolts on one side, you can use a floor jack to raise the cab enough to remove and replace the mounts and floors. Keeping the other side bolted down keeps the cab from shifting. I had to repair the area where the cab mounts like you did. All I did was put the front end on jack stands, and remove the front wheels to make it easier to get to the welding. I didn't pull the fenders etc if you ever have anyone asking about how much disassembly is necessary.

Hey Riv or anyone else that could possibly help, I have a 62 unibody that belonged to my dad. Long story short, he swapped to an older frame to fit a larger engine and apparently swapped the mounts from original frame to newer frame, then when I was in high school we started the re-build so now the original mounts are MIA looking for a place I can buy some replacements. Any help is greatly appreciated.

way worse than mine. I did the cab mounts on my 63, and the floor panels. got cab mounts from Carolina Classics as well, but got the floor pans from Dennis Carpenter.(they the same floor pans though)Yes I had to trim on the passenger side mount too because of where the floor lines up. Who did you get the cab bushings from? The ones from carolina classics say non unibody. I just ordered the pans and cab mounts for my 61.
I got them from Carolina Classics. I used the non-unibody set but it worked well
