    I think you would love visiting Wisconsin. A lot of people from Germany, Poland, the UK, and several Scandinavian countries have moved here. We take beer very seriously here, we have some of the best cheese in the world, we love sausages, we love being outside in nature no matter the weather, and the people in general are super friendly.

    Wisconsin requires that all butter sold in the state be graded by a licensed Wisconsin grader. Imported butters are not allowed because they are not graded by the USDA. Butter from outside of Wisconsin must be labeled to indicate that it complies with the state's grade standards.Restaurants in Wisconsin are required to use real butter unless a customer requests otherwise. This law has been in place since 1957 to protect the state's dairy industry.Wisconsin is the only state in the country that requires cheesemakers to earn a license. The license is related to science, sanitation, and the integrity of Wisconsin's dairy industry.

      Not really so much that restaurants are required to use butter, but that margarine cannot be used and be called butter.

    So….. this video was during a day trip while Diana was visiting Lawrence and wife from Lost in the pond in Chicago…. So she was limited to only taking the train up to downtown milwaukee and a few uber trips that didnt get her any further west than 60th street in Tosa and Dirty Stallis …… barely a fair representation of the whole 414 region, let alone Wisconsin as a whole.
    I was born in milwaukee but have no personal memory of it before 12 year of age (dad was navy) but both sides of my family are from the north central part of the state. Culturally and geographically the state is quite diverse within is own range on the spectrum

    Wisconsin is a very charming state. One of my best friends is from Kenosha and I have been. It's directly between Milwaukee and Chicago and is well connected with public transit, busses and trains to both cities. The food is great, the people are amazing and it's always a good time. One thing to note, and I always get an earful, if you are close to the lake, people do not talk like they are from Fargo. LOL, but "west of the I", they do. Half of the state has that mid-western flat accent, and the other half says things like "don'tchaknow" and pronounces "bag" as "BAY-G" but a "bagel" is a "bag-uhl". It's charming, I swear! And the summer concerts there are phenomenal!!

    Wisconsin has lots to offer and the people are great. Check out Door County (the thumb in the state), the Driftless Area on the west end of the state, and the northern part of the state. Fun fact, a good chunk of the state was carved out by glaciers, which contributes to why there are so many lakes. And in terms of the Great Lakes, you may think that you're looking out over an ocean.

    • @Smedley61
      @Smedley61 18 дней назад

      And for cheese, go to the actual makers. There are a ton of them scattered about. And make sure to try the cheese curds (not the deep fried stuff you might see advertised). If they squeak when you bite into them, you've gotten good fresh ones.
      And try the frozen custard and butterburgers. Culver's, based in Wisconsin, has taken that menu nationally as a chain but they are far from being the best within the state.
      Also, once outside the Milwaukee area, don't be surprised at the amount of wildlife you see, particularly deer.

    Lots of fun places to explore in Wisconsin if you decide to come visit. Milwaukee has two pro Sports teams, Baseball's Brewers and Basketball's Bucks, to see depending on the time of year as well as a Zoo and Miller Brewery. Madison is the capital city and the downtown has several places to check out, especially in the Fall during the College Football season. I live in Door County which is now in our Quiet season but is well worth visiting between April and October, the county is full of Cherries, wineries, parks, and small towns. You can check out The Green Bay Packers in Green Bay starting in July and tour the Museum, Hall of Fame and the Stadium pretty much year round.

The admission was a nickel, 5 cents, and that entitled you to a tour and 5 glasses of beer. Needless to say, very popular with the University crowd. Since Wisconsin is known as "the Dairy State" through the 1970s it was illegal to sell non-dairy, margarine, spread. It was butter all the way.

      @runrafarunthebestintheworld. you've left several comments defending Diane Jennings. Is that your job? Defending YT channels? Or is it just Diane Jennings?
      You said several times, "but she wasn't offensive here". Does that make building her channel on negativity about the United States OK? You might think so, but no one asked for your opinion.
      The question is why does Millie keep reacting to her channel after knowing that already?
      Only she can answer that question, not you.

    I'm in Milwaukee right now! It's a great place, but nothing that's worth traveling across the world for if I'm being honest. I know everybody thinks we're all obsessed with cheese... the only place I've ever seen a like cheese specific place is on the freeway coming from Chicago or at the airport. It's 100% a tourist thing unless you're way out in the middle of nowhere, but if anyone's in Chicago Milwaukee if definitely worth a trip for the day.
