I have never been so excited to see Christmas movies that represent my people in a way that doesn’t start off demoralizing us, and that has one parent, the depressing negative way that most movies only want to depict African Americans. Thank You OWN and Hybrid. Keep up the good work ❤

So do I. I specifically look for them, with Black women that are not portrayed as argumentive, tale barriers , male haters, always looking for a man.

Just discovered OWN movies in the last week or two and have been binge watching. I'm an old white lady, so take this for what it's worth, but I've found these Christmas movies so refreshing from the standard Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies! Really enjoying these movies, comparative to Hallmark and Lifetime . Highlights that no matter what color your skin is, some things are just "human"....like love, friendships, loyalty, purpose in life. Those things make us all closer together, despite, race, religion, etc.

This is definitely the best Christmas movie I've seen in a while. What an amazing message: your life & the decisions you make affect the lives around you. In the end Carole reaped the good seeds she sowed in her original life. And Kimberly Elise is such a stellar actress. Her distress was so believable. Pls OWN, give us more of this. ❤
She reminds me of the beautiful Cecily Tyson, just the younger version!
When Iris and Carol starting talking about variations of our lives..It made me emotional..Great movie!!!

This is one of my favorite Christmas movies. The son, played by CAYDEN K. WILLIAMS is such a great actor. He has a promising career ahead of him! Of course Kimberly Elise, Jackee' Harry and Anthony Montgomery are amazing as usual. The entire cast was great!
Great movie! You don't always have to be rich to be happy. Some of the poorest people are happy as can be, people struggling with bills. Family is the most important of all! Some of the richest people are not even happy at all. God bless us all! Amen 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

There are lots more healthy intact Families than shared by the "powers that be".
I absolutely enjoyed this movie! The acting was superb! It is so thought provoking regarding the simple pleasures of life. As I looked back to so many memories in the times of having little, enough or much, it was the love and laughter of togetherness that made those times so special. I believe that two of the greatest gifts this world, families and friends have lost are laughter and togetherness. There is a feel good, teary-eyed ending to this movie and I loved it!

Not sure that I can finish this one, only a few minutes in and I want to break down. Uncertainty is difficult.
I do not mean to be critical, but when my parents were financially poor, dad had a low paying job and my mother was a stay at home mom, we never lived in a very fancy house. We in fact lost our house in bankruptcy, and began living in little duplexes. Crapholes. WE also rented from the church, the church parsonage. Probably the nicest and largest place we ever lived in when I was a child. Then we moved to a new city, and my parents bought a starter house, under HUD, we lived there until each of us siblings moved out. My Dad still lives there today after 50 years. IT is a small house. Smaller than some of the apartments I have rented. YET six of us lived in that house! Crammed in there. IT was not spacious at all. Small kitchen table, no dining area at all. Tiny living room. Nine hundred square feet on the first floor, this included the two bedrooms! HOLY Cow. Small kitchen no counter space for much cooking. YET mom cooked. She passed away in 2018. My parents stayed in that house all of these years. Too poor to move into anything nicer.
This movie portrays a very fancy house for the income these people are living on--needing to charge the electrical bill. Seems like they are living beyond their means. Probably have two cars too. WE never had more than one vehicle when I lived at at home. ONLY after I moved out, did their financial picture get better and DAd could afford two vehicles. That did not last for long, finally downsized back to one vehicle again. As for me, I live in low income housing presently, never owned a car.
I am now 60. Even when I worked, I had to choose paying rent, living on my own, or having a car. I chose living on my own--using mass transit. Most all of these Christmas movies are pure fantasy for me, NONE of them portray real life as I have lived it. In every one, it is a fantasy story of each person having enough money to have a car, house, and clothes on the salary they are making, which I find incredible. Then they meet their dream spouse and get married and 2 kids and life is grand. That never happened in my life. Although I feel blessed to be alive, there was a lot of life--circumstances, and things that happened all along the way, losing jobs, apartments, medical illnesses and crises and people dying financial diasters leading to being homeless. I lived all of that and more in my time on my own. YET have survived it through God's grace. There should be a movie like that!

The moral of the story is to be thankful for what you have. But be very careful for what you wish for because you won't be the only one affected by it.

Praying that God will allow us to celebrate this Blessed season as a family and be an amazing support systems for my Mother. My Dad passed away the eve of my parents 50th wedding anniversary. So if you're reading this please don't over due the "stuff" surrounding Christmas, remember Jesus is the reason and there's nothing more important than your family. This shows you might wish to have a life but that’s not what you need. She wanted a version life, which give her a different relationship with her family. The first one she was so happy with her family, singing with her daughter and son, have a lot of fun with her family even though she wanted to change her life because they weren’t financially stable. Now she is, but the relationship she had with her family is not the same. Be thankful about what you have, u might want something that God sees you don’t need because he knows that will affect you in a long way. God just want us to be happy💯
