  • On this solo winter camping adventure temps dropped below zero and I had to hoof it through thigh deep snow without snow shoes to make camp. The views of sunset and sunrise over the frozen lake were amazing. Despite the snowy cold, I still considered breaking through the ice and taking a cold dip in the frozen lake. It sounds crazy, but they say it's good for you. So will I do it? Watch and find out!

    I really love this. It’s hard to understand how amazing it feels to be out there unless you’ve winter camped. This video helps me feel in the moment and gets me so excited to get out there push myself. Thank you!

    Snicker, I can’t help but shake my head at the many trips you make to haul stuff from the vehicle to the camp site….
    Why don’t you get one of those black sleds that winter hikers/skiers/hunters use to haul their gear about.
    My roommate and I saw one at Canadian tire for $129.99 which seems to be a pretty decent price, I am thinking of getting one for myself simply because it would make things easier in the winter…plus it can be use as an adult sled if you want to have fun and go down a few hills….😁

      Definitely. I actually stopped at the tackle shop on the way home from this trip to look at those sleds, but didn't end up buying one (yet).

    I enjoyed this, but I have to ask: would it have been easier to haul your gear with a sled (pulk)? Just asking! 😉 Fun time. Take it easy. Roger

    Love your channel.
    I just bought a small for boiling water and heating leftovers.
    Where is the best place to buy fuel?
    Also it’s a MRG stove. Can i use propane with this?

      @outdoorempirecom  Год назад +2

      You can find it at most sporting goods stores like Sportsman's Warehouse, REI, Cabela's, or even Walmart sometimes. Don't use straight propane! It's gotta be isobutane-propane mix, 80% isobutane 20% propane. It's a very standard mix and used by tons of backpacking and camp stoves so it's pretty easy to find. I think you can even order it online.

    How did you dry that canvas out when you got home?
    Edited to add: That was really pretty. I'm gonna have to save but I'm gonna get the springbar traveler with the rainfly and ground tarp so we can enjoy it during shoulder seasons. I really don't like camping in the summer. I don't like mosquitoes or being stinky. Then your clothes and bedding get the funk in them and it takes heroic efforts to get that out 😅
    Edited to add: I heard a grown man say the pool made his "wee wee disappear." You're obviously part seal...

      Had to hang it up in the garage as best I could for a few days to dry. Worth it. And ya, I don't take myself too seriously.

      I put a sheet in our sleeping bags on the inside. Then I can wash the sheet and keep having a clean sleeping bag.

      Nice! I have the same one for backpacking, it's awesome. MSR says you're supposed to use their fuel canisters only, but I've used different brands just fine. If you're car camping get a big one, more bang for your buck.
