I still use the old programs--- The Expert Handicapper, Sharper Handicapper, and Handicapping Magic. I had a lone value horse ( from the expert program) win yesterday at 4/1 and last week, a 25/1 winner on the turf that head a huge power fraction advantage. Thanks for the insights, but thanks especially for all the winners over the years.
After 20 years I am STILL using the Fulcrum, PBS and PPF as the foundation for all of my handicapping. They are the North Star of horse racing. Thanks!

With over 50 years of investing in horses, I can honestly say there are many pieces to the puzzle in today's racing. Trainers' data has become a big asset, but the pace will always be the prime reason I will bet a horse. I am a huge believer in watching videos of a horse's last few races to get some insight into any problems the horse may have had. Thank you for sharing all these years and keep on keeping on.

I won in only 1 season at the races, video was the reason. Ok I had time to view them in detail.
You will get great results using these techniques but you have to be patient and remember you can’t dance every dance. I bought Handicapping Magic back in 2001 and I have to say it’s probably one of the best books I ever bought on the subject and believe me I have a lot of books on handicapping.

Hi Michael. Love your video! I’m testing it at home now with previous race data and results. 3 questions please. 1) How to compare horses with only sprint fractions vs horses with only routes? 2) How to treat horses with a layoff? Don’t use or pass? 3) Race splits can be slightly different for dirt, all weather and turf races. Are theses races treated the same or different re: fulcrum pace numbers? Thanks Michael

So many races in the UK don't publish internal fractions, and the Fulcrum is dependent on having the second call time, so I'm afraid it won't be applicable. And definitely not in the jump races. Thanks for watching!

You have the right idea of 1/4 handicapping but wrong strategy, I can use the same 2furlongs handicapping and get much better results by selecting a different pace call in the race to key on

To those of u who do know Pizzola’s methodology-this is not a revelation-but to those who don’t -the Fulcrum horse of the race usually figures in the result and often wins.
What does “spot play” mean? Also, a big factor is the horse’s personality (running style) which is part of the uniqueness of the race and cannot be quantified.
A spot play is something horseplayers will use that isolates one factor and uses just that to bet. They don't-cant-take in the uniqueness of the race to be run, in my opinion. Running style can be quantified, I use % energy expenditure, but personality? No numbers can be put on that. Thanks for watching!
@@valuetechinc Hello, thanks for responding! I am very interested in your "energy expenditure", can you talk about that a little bit? I am designing a racing tabletop simulation (something like a "war game") which must take into account energy expended, but I mean energy in the bio-physical sense (as a function of Force applied etc). This can get very complicated because it involves interaction of the horse's hooves with the surface, taking into account Acceleration (change in velocity over time), etc. The project is by no means meant to be a tool for handicapping, rather a fun simulation/game of a horse race, for a several players. If you might be at all interested in discussing these concepts, please let me know. By the way I must disagree with you that running style is represented by "energy expended"-- I believe it has more to do with "psychological" pressure a horse feels in regard to what position the horse holds in the herd at that moment, and its deviation from its preferred position in the herd causes consternation in the horse which translates to various troubles... I won't go into more detail but would be glad to hear from you!

@@caseG80 This seems like a basic question, that someone should have data on. It's one or the other, sprints or routes. I'm also curious whether longshots come in more frequently in Maiden, Claiming, Allowance races. North American or South American. It's only common sense that it would be beneficial to focus on a style of race that has a higher than average payout. It's not like there's a shortage of races to choose from.

Here’s the thing. In theory everything you discuss makes sense. The issue with horse racing is even if one could reduce the 17 percent vig to a plus 10 EV, the time one spends to wait for such opportunities is not worth it.
I hear you, Joel-it's a game that requires patience and discipline, and though that's a simple strategy it's not always easy to implement.
For sure there are many pieces to the horse racing puzzle. Infinite ways to approach it, many different "systems" for many different scenarios. Never a one size fits all.
Anyway, i have been working on what I call THE SUPERFECTA INITIATIVE... Ive been trying to crack the SUPERFECTA for over 20 years. Ive determined the best way is ticket/betting construction.
Ive learned that 5 to 6 horses on a ticket is optimal. I am able to determine which horses will be in WPS, but not the order. Even 50 cent tickets cost too much once all said and done.
Ive not at all been successful and drives me nuts!
Start betting fast horses.
