These guys are incredible. I have a three song rule: I have to hear three songs I like before I buy the album. KONGOS passes. Accordion, five string bass, killer guitar and kick-ass percussion. Sick talent, guys!

      That is a clever rule.
Following that mighta saved me a few bux over the yrs.
That said, there've been some albums that I bought for one song, and then eventually, over time, realized I loved other tracks on there, too.
U never rly know til u've lived w/the music for a while.

The very first time I heard "Come With Me Now" I went out and bought Kongos
Lunatic CD. There is at least 4 of the songs on that CD that should be playing on the air. I just love the way they have the cameras set up on all the band members during "Hey I Don't Know," it is so cool to watch! Money well spent on this album!!!!

I bought some shirts at a garage sale. They were destined for a play. Among all the shirts, there was one that caught my attention. There was a man with an apple and looking through a book. On the back of the shirt, said the name of this band. I looked it up on the internet and it's how I got here, great music. Casualities that give pleasure.

I wonder if people realize that since the beginning of music people pretty much say that about every current generation's music. I mean I'm 29 and I'll here some crap on the radio from Minaj or some shit rapper and catch myself about to say, "man, music sucks nowadays.... nothing like back in my day." Then I remember "Baby Got Back," "Me So Horny," and "Push It" and all the other songs from the 80s and early 90s about dumb ass shit. EVERY generation is full of shitty music. Like in the movie Live Free or Die Hard, just because music is old doesn't make it "classic." There are plenty of bands out there like Kongos, the music they play just isn't commercial enough. Sex sells, that's no secret. I mean why do you think Katy Perry has a career? Her big ol titties and the fact she's nice to look at is a major if not only reason. Ever hear her sing live at an awards show??? She clearly didn't "make it" because of her "talent." Minaj is only famous for her ass. So yeah, sex sells. Kongos seem to have found (delayed) fame with this album despite it coming out like 2 years ago. There next album might be big, but then after that I bet they fall back into obscurity or at least out of the limelight. Much like the Black Keys. BK was huge like 3 or so years ago. No one heard them beforehand despite having multiple albums out and no one is really raving and playing the shit out of their newest album. Cage the Elephant, Mumford and Sons, etc. all have their brief moment in the sun and then fall off. Imagine Dragons is likely the next one to fade away. Sure they might have a huge fan base still, but as far as them getting radio airplay or a ton of attention on MTV/VH1...... not so much. On youtube their videos might get 10+ million views but that's about it. Point.... there's plenty of awesome music out there. You just got to know where to look. It's definitely not the radio and MTV anymore as good sources for NEW great music. Online.... youtube, spotify, pandora, last.fm...... etc. are all great places to find bands. The radio and MTV only play top 40..... if that, more like top 20 hits, and thanks to the younger generation that is usually shit like Bieber, Perry, Gaga, and Rhianna. So if you're young and complain about music "nowadays" you have only your peers to blame. Tween obsessed girls are usually the dictators of what comprises the "mainstream" music.

    "Hey I Don't Know" ~ Kongos
    Tears are shed, a shame
    I should have known
    I should have thought
    I could have thought
    Before I cast that stone
The waves radiate far and wide
There's a ringing in my ears
    For a minute
    I think I'm going blind
    Tears are shed, a shame
    I should have known
    The crown weighs heavy
Heavy as I sit back in my throne
I say hey, it wasn't me
    I'm just a pawn
But the devil's not into details
Where have all the heroes gone?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
    The dream is broken
Now the mind must be woken
So what are you waiting for
    Tell me what's the hesitation?
    What are you waiting for
Tell me what is the delay?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
The victor earns the title "The Great"
    All the mysteries get unlearned
All the history just becomes a string of dates
The hordes overrun in a clean sweep
    Destroying everything that was built
Where's the glory in making mothers weep?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
    The dream is broken
Now the mind must be woken
So what are you waiting for
    Tell me what's the hesitation?
    What are you waiting for
    Your special invitation?
    What are you waiting for
Tell me what is the delay?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?
Hey I don't know, why don't you tell me?

I was afraid they would be a one-hit wonder like so many others when I first came across "Come With Me Now" and loved it. But the more I listen to their other songs, the more I'm impressed. These guys are really good.

Hm. I think I can put a finger to what they remind me of: a meld between Imagine Dragons and Cage The Elephant. :D

Angreh Kittunz its the drums!! loved imagine dragons radioactive. then no more songs of the same intensity. kongos has more of that appeal for me.

This old lady loves the beat of the kongos. They're as good as any group from the 70s, and that says a lot.

The 70's were ok but the 80's that's where the music was and i think the Kongos would have fit in there just as well

Very nice to listen to. The dominant tune in this song has resemblance to an Indian Raga.

I just discovered this band when in a car listening to the radio a couple of weeks ago. I stopped viewing and listening to media for over a year as a kind of fast thing, so I've been out of the loop when it comes to many things. This is one band that really has a sound I like, and I am thankful for the talent. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the songs on your channel. I haven't gone to a concert in a very long time, but I will keep my eyes open for when you come to my area. Thanks again and keep creating! :)

Same here. I discovered them earlier this week while driving to Tulsa and listening to the EDGE out of Oklahoma City I think. It was the "Come With Me Now" song.

Rtrt67 Yes, that's the one that plays on the radio stations here too. I came here to check out the other songs they play, and I just love them too. I'm really hoping I will be able to make it to the concert here in a few weeks. :D

I love this song! The funny thing is that when I first heard "Come with me now" a month or 2 ago on the radio, I didn't really care for it. But they are airing the crap out of it and it got stuck in my head. Eventually it really grew on me and now I like it a lot. :-) So I came to check out their other stuff and was like: "Crap...they're actually really awesome!!!" The album is now on repeat for me. I wish we knew about them a few years ago when the album actually came out.

"Hey I don't know" and "I wanna know" are my faves, but the entire album rocks!

I, too, just recently discovered this band. I was scanning TV channels and stumbled upon their "Come With Me Now" video. I was hooked. Got on line and found all this other great music. Best band is years!
