Vin and Sori React and a Breakdown Tool Lateralus!!! / vinandsori
Awesome. I can't blame Vin. That part blows my mind every time.
Right??!!
Sara Palma im numb guys when listening to this 0___0
Yea great song. But that part is stellar
I ALWAYS get chills at the end. The final verse is my favorite.
Chills, after a thousand times. So beautiful
Maynard writes a song about not over analyzing and we all happily over-analyse it. Gotta love his sense of humor
Hands down my favorite Tool song it is just amazing on so many levels. I want to point out to you though a view of things involving the "Swing on the Spiral" lyric. The Fibonacci syllable count he uses... Black(1) then(1) white are(2) all I see(3) in my infancy(5) red and yellow then came to be(8) reaching out to me(5) lets me see(3) there is(2) so(1) much(1) more and(2) beckons me(3) to look through to these(5) infinite possibilities(8) as below so above and beyond I imagine(13) drawn outside the lines of reason(8) push the envelope(5) watch it bend(3).
So the Fibonacci sequence he is using there lyrically is 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 5, 3, 2, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 8, 5, 3. Which is basically "swinging" back and forth on the spiral not endlessly spiraling out. To me it references the fact that the further you go into the unknown the scarier it gets so you pull back from it. He wants to spiral out and keep going but he is only human so he does reach his limits and he stops and retreats back to the known, but he does eventually try again pushing a little further each time. So he is swinging on the spiral growing a little more with every swing because first it stops at 8 before going back, but the next time it reaches 13 the next step forward. That is just another way to look at it and how I interpreted it.
Whoa!
May there be connection to the fact that in the last part he puts a syllable every beat, without any pauses, as he really is spiralling out?
Actually. That's the exact opposite of what he says, he says.. He's embracing the unknown.. which is to accept, not to retract..
Yes the goal is to embrace the unknown, reaching out to it. However I feel the swinging reference is there because even if his plans and what he wants is to embrace the unknown he is still human, hence the line and still be a human and sometimes what you want and/or aspire to be is more difficult than expected and things are easier said than done. My interpretation doesn't contradict that the goal is to embrace the unknown and grow/evolve it is expanding on it, to say that once you do embrace it sometimes you bite off more than you can chew so you retreat to learn and grow from the experience, and then go further next time you try. Like I said though that is just one interpretation for all I know you could be completely right and I am way off the only person that really knows is Maynard.
Jon Connor I know I'm right. How's that? You can't fear the unknown to reach the level he's speaking of, why? You only reach it after you lose all fear and embrace the chaos, embrace the unknown, the desire is all that matters, the desire for knowledge and wholeness is all that matters when you get to that level.
Who can't wait for the new Tool album ? 🤘⭐⭐
its coming boys and girls , the best ever i assume.
Entire empires rise and fall between tool albums
sad reacts only
It's so far overdue, but known Tool, that long wait will produce even greater pieces of art, had they just got it done back 12"/13"
2019 bro
I love how Sori closes her eyes and just feels the music. I've heard this song hundreds of times and it still gives me goosebumps. Be prepared for a great journey if you choose to continue your TOOL reactions.
SCott well said bud, I am with you on everything you said!!!
I reeeeally want them to react to Stinkfist, love that song
Right in two gives me goosebumps
was about to that.vin hears she feels
It is bizarre how they can describe the feeling I'm having with the lyrics they are singing right at that moment.
With my feet upon the ground
I lose myself between the sound
And open wide to suck it in
I feel it move across my skin
I'm an Atheist who grew up in the church and I feel more "bewilderment" now by the beauty and mystery of the cosmos than I did when I thought I had it all figured out. The box can work both ways
Agreed. I feel like I didn't understand the beauty of the world until I gave up religion as a teen and got really interested in science; namely biology.
I started out the opposite way I was atheist first until I realized that science can’t explain my consciousness interacting with higher dimensional beings like Metatron now I know god is real but books translated multiple times cannot capture his greatness, but it does give us a low resolution image.
@@ctrlaltdel1758 I would like to ask for further explanation cause all I could think from your comment is "Wut...".
soccerwizard975 if I heard myself a year ago I would have said the same thing. I was raised without church because my parents are from two different religions, then I went to college got a bachelors in information technology, met big movers and shakers and saw them low dosing shrooms to talk to what they called machine elves helped them become successful, did a deep dive into the occult to see if there were any hidden sciences that didn’t translate into modern science because these machine elves are seen by people who never heard of them and hallucinate even in a group setting people are describing the same thing together, then I find out about the lucifarian pedovores who blackmail politicians for power, then I find out there are organs in our brain with sensory receptors like our pineal gland, and then I had a dream and saw Metatron’s cube before I even knew it existed. Quantum mechanics proves there are more dimensions than we can currently perceive, just entertain the idea that inside our brains there are eye or ear like organs that can sense other dimensions and hallucinogens or meditation allows you to control your mind and the minds of others.

I love the fettuccine sequence it's so tasty
I love how we the community turned these two into tool fans 🤘
To listen to TOOL is to love TOOL :)
Fake
Best. Tool. Song. Ever. Fibonacci sequence for days. Spiral out ~
Fibonacci sheep couldn't get me to sleep and I've been counting all week 0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13
i just can't find any way to squeeze it into the top 10.... and past that i wouldn't bother ranking
Nah. Pushit is better
@@deathmetalmvs5924 the aenima version of pushit is better than this song
@@chaos5840 Agreed. The "Pushit" studio version is quite possibly my favorite song of all-time. Definitely my favorite ending to any song ever. The last 2 minutes are just incredible. I feel like I can run through a wall after listening to it. The live version on "Salival" is great as well.
Lateralus is the Best album of 21century.
Hell yes.
Single best song written in history
Burgundy Gold and the First is????
He said "single" best not "second". Agree with him 100%...best song ever.
Agreed 💯💯🎶
100% agree. This song is life
agreed
Spiral out, keep growing and learning. Be the lead singer of three bands, plant a vineyard, learn jiu-jitsu. Live your life to the fullest, no limitations.
Bubbles The Monkey i wouldn't call him the leader of tool he's not involved in the composition of the music he gets finished product and writes lyrics. They are never together in the same place unless its on tour
Brandon Hinrichs I agree, I said he’s the lead singer of three bands, not the leader.
Brandon Hinrichs Nah, no problem. You’re right about Tool not having one leader who makes the decisions for the band.
100%
tool is not music, it's an life experience.
immortally insane Maynard’s voice is hypnotic.
Ew lol
Seeing TOOL live IS truly an experience... one of which one won't ever find at any other show...
Like pink floyd :)
Danny Carey is the best drummer in history.
Sori listen by yourself with great headphones with your eyes closed- Toolgasm!
and high on weed ;)
Esp for Reflection song just goes from left to right feels like you're spinning
Anybody else air smash the gong at 8:11 ?
vLarsn every time
you're god damn right
You bet!
Fuck yes.
I even ''act'' as if I'm putting my drum stick down, grabbing the gong mallet, hitting it, and taking my drum stick again like Danny does live.
Damn. Vin ruined sori's mood. I hate seeing stuff like that.
Sorry! I was upset about the editing!!! It was so late! -Sori
Couple dynamics. As interesting as the song itself.
how are whispering the lyrics perfectly along with it if this is their first listen?
I'm calling b.s. on Sori never hearing Lateralus before! She makes the EXACT same expression I do @6:36, but she does it before that verse hits. It's a conspiracy! :)
Surprise Sori with tickets to a Tool show!
And to think you guys haven't even heard Cold & Ugly, Jerk-Off, Bottom, Crawl Away, Flood, Eulogy, 46&2, H, Hooker WAP, Pushit, Third Eye, Vicarious and whatever else I forgot.
Good times ahead folks. Good times ahead :)
Russ Alex they might get around to it some day.
There needs to be a 4 degrees reaction.

My favorite lyrics of all time.
Words to live by.
I love Lateralus !!! Pretty much the message here is to not live your life in a straight linear path, go beyond and do things lateralus'ly. Keep growing, Keep expanding, keep learning, think outside the box, go above and beyond, push the envelope, go where no man has been before and so on.
Love the channel, glad to see more Tool fans on the RUclips!!!
I am so loving this album review! You guys are great!
This song might be deeper than you guys think. When Maynard sings "As below, so above and beyond", this is a Hermetic Principle: The Principle of Correspondence. "As below so above, as within so without". Reminds you something? "On earth as it is in heaven". Yes, it is the same thing, basically.
There are seven Hermetic Principles. It's really interesting. Google it.
Hey Zeus boo,party popper
.
Tell me about it. The whole song is explicitly an alchemical process, it's not even hidden.
@@Qliphirot the song is a hypersigil

Song of my life
That song cuts Deep for me
Ten years ago, this song planted the thought processes that I truly believe saved my life.
Thanks Tool ❤️
aww Vin, ya messed with Sori's flow man...
Say are you guys married? Yallz such a beautiful couple
Aww thx! -Sori
REACT TO PANTERA - SUICIDE NOTE PT. 1 & 2 PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Both songs would make a cool discussion. It's also Pantera's softest song with part 1 and part 2 is their heaviest.
@14:21... The phrase that EVERY married man has heard a thousand times 😂
"I'm just gonna go through all my stuff"?
Vin cut all Sori's inspiration, sad...
Black, White, Red, and Yellow is a reference to the Medicine Wheel. It represents the 4 seasons, 4 cardinal directions, and 4 stages of life. I recommend digging deeper into this concept.
Infants see in black and white the day we are born, the first colors our eyes can see are red and yellow as they develop in the coming days.
@@ponzischemer1424 You're right, but you know with Maynard's lyrics there are always layers. Look up "Medicine Wheel" and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Lateralus is by far my favorite Tool song.
You knocked Sori out of the moment when you rewinded, Vin. And me too! But thumbs up, guys! Try Undertow next, please.
I feel like Vin is intellectually frustrated with his beautiful wife but kinda likes it, too. :)
Sori, I'm Tool girl also. Their music moves my soul.
Love it!!
Do Puscifer - The Arsonist!!
storm Exxon Grand Canyon is great too
Tool: making music in 2000 to be discussed and understood in 2020
Vin: I gotta hear that part again!!!
Attaboy! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🙂🔥
The spot where Maynard sings "feel the rhythm" and Danny hits the quick double bass mid-syllable just gives me the fucking chills. You know how when two violinists or singers do a beautiful harmony together and it just has that perfect pitch or buzz to the ear? To me it feels just like that but between a voice and drums (and whatever else was playing in the background I couldn't identify). Does it hit anyone else that way?
Absolutely no question
That whole album is worth its w weight in gold and silver
I'll be rocking out to tool even in my 90s
Dredg - BUG EYES!
6:36 her reaction, in the cut, feeling it... that is what this band's music does...100% TOOL
Spiral out buddies!!! Welcome in the rabbit hole! 🌀🤘
"Weep like a widow"= bury that which you're married to..
You touched a special subject there for me. Talking about thinking in boxes. Following that logic angostic people are the most open minded for me. Because for them everything could be possible where as religious people certainly draw a line. A universe without god? No! Blashemy! (Same goes for hardcore atheists the other way around). Why does there has to be an afterlife? What's is so terrible about the fact we only have that life? How arrogant of mankind to feel entitled to never be forgotten and to live eternally in never ending happiness. Talking about the spirit...if one ever witnesses a brain damaged person or someone with dementia you realize nothing stays. The whole personallity fades away. There is no sense to that it just is. The ultimate truth is how things are here and right now. Putting that into a box of new meaning by forcing in into context to make it more digestable is a human thing but nevertheless lying to yourself.
If only having one life scares the crap out of you how is that anyones problem but your own? I think of it as really brave and mature to take matters into your own hands and taking full responsibility for shit in the here and now. That's what bugs me sometimes. When people who can't endure the hard reality hide in some fictional reality and wear that like a crown of superiority.
Big difference between atheists and the majority of religious people. Atheists don't preach that you will end up in hell. They don't condemn you for how you live your life. Therefore religion is a seperator of mankind NOT a unifier. I think mankind invented art through itself it wasn't given to them by anyone it is our way to cope with things. How come that all beautiful things should be given to us and all the disgusting things are "our nature". Same with tragedies. Positive things - that's god watching over you. Baby with cancer? We don't wanna talk about that....
sarakaster so true
The funny thing is that hard core atheists are just as far from scepticism as theists, when true atheists ARE sceptical. They don't see enough evidence to make an informed decision either way. For them there is no box to be housed in. I say things occur that I cannot explain, still no reason to assume it's beyond the natural.
agnosticism and atheism are not mutually exclusive, they address different stances... you could be both
Hey Zeus lol, about an hour ago I was considering discussing exactly your first sentence.
@Hey Zeus
A hardcore atheist for me is one who blames religious people for their believes. Good example: An atheist who thinks it should be illegal to raise kids religious or that religions should be forbidden in general.
Ouch...Vin with the big faux pas!!! Broke Sori's groove, we feel you Sori when her eyes close... we know, we know ❤
I just found your channel tonight, and it's a very lonely night for me. You're keeping me some great company, and thank you for that. I've recently got into reaction videos, but you guys spend so much of your time ACTUALLY reacting! You don't just talk for 30 seconds after the song, ya know? I know if I ever meet y'all in person, I'd immediately connect with you. Keep doing what you're doing. As always, peace and love.
Been watching your Lateralus reviews in order...you two are so awesome. People like you give hope to humanity :) (deep, eh?).
BTW...LOVE how you two rock out to some TOOL songs. Vin...for a newby, you are so in tune with the lyrics. Very impressed.
Lastly...you two HAVE TO catch TOOL live. That is pretty much a life changing experience.
Vin and Sori its awesome when someone actually breaks it down. Top of your game and doing nothing but getting better. Thanks guys. I hadn't realized how much i missed some of these albums until your reactions. Its not just hearing it. Its feeling
Hi,I have been following TOOL since the beginning of the 90's. I am a disabled veteran but I have seen and felt Maynard and TOOL go from this one point to another and always stayed a musical phenomenon. I felt a lot of spirituality wanting to break through!
Btbam "Ants of the sky".
How about Swim to the moon instead?
Moetasim Rady dude I whole heartedly agree.
Ants of the sky has so many amazing riffs, and the surprise in the song always makes me feel good
i heard that Maynard doesnt write lyrics til all the instrumental parts are done. he fits the words in like a puzzle. what a fucking BAND
I just wanna say I've not been posting my daily Agalloch request, just because it feels wrong to request other stuff while watching videos of Tool. I'll resume normal activity when you guys do, haha.
Good stuff guys, i'm a little behind, just watched this one to the end, but have a couple still to watch, so I'll get on that.
Hahah
"I'm hoping my epidermis will handle that." 😂 I've been there man!
This is the first time I've ever thought about this, but in the children's song "Jesus Loves the Little Children" their colors are red and yellow, black and white... probably just coincidence, but given Maynard's upbringing it is interesting.
You guys should listen to Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned.
9:00 - I agree Vin! The climax of this song makes my heart explode!
Why can't all TOOL songs on this CD be your favorite why do you have to pick one SPIRAL OUT VIN
Allegaeon “Proponent for Sentience III- The Extermination”
Two amazing lead guitarists and great lyrical content to react to.
AHHHHHHH Absolutely my favorite reaction from both of you!!!
Seeing both of you in that middle part rock-out together was to me the most you two have enjoyed a song together, loved it!!!
Tool. Metallica mostly a few others now and then
My all time favourite song off my all time favourite album. Thank you so much for this!
boy Sori really is a goddess isn't she, look at her lol.. youre a lucky man.
Spiral out
I really like you two! you don't stop the songs so far that i have seen and i really appreciate you guys feeling it first and then talking about it after. this is a really good choice i feel for your channel. awesome job
It's so interesting to watch people who are listening to the same music at the same time and how they individually react to it. For so much of the song, Vin tends to fall into the more stereotypical, hardcore mode with the furrowed brow and the headbanging/fistpumping to the beat of the music. Contrast that with Sori and how she closes her eyes and seems to feel a different part of the music that's playing at the same time with her head moving slowly side to side. To me, that's feeling the same music two completely different ways, but neither is right or wrong. It's finding that thing that moves you and latching onto it. So cool that music allows us to do that without each of us feeling like we need to convert each other to our way of thinking or feeling.
The solar wind for example is a flow of charged particles. Plasma cosmology suggests that this wind originates at the galactic core, is channelled through the sun, and moves into the earth, and through us.
lol sori looks exactly how I looked when I heard opiate the first time
Sori - thank you for checking in on my Patreon pledge. I just noticed, that you messaged me a couple of days ago on Patreon asking me to update the pledge or else I wouldn't get my rewards.
You guys are the reason why I registered over there ... so I have really no clue what to do on that website xD
Should be fixed now!
Loving the mass of Tool videos this weekend! Cheers :)
You’re so cute!!! 🤟🏻-Sori
This song is absolutely amazing
LOL, by analyzing TOOL you come to discuss about Aliens.... good job Maynard ;-). This song is so great in itself, the music and in the deeeeeep lyrics. Open your mind, ride the spiral to the end... SPIRAL OUT! Love that song so much and of course your reviews ;-) Keep up the good work dudes!
Vin feels the song in his core 🤘🤘🤘
Dont we all.
Seeing you gus rock out at the end made my day!!! Keep having fun and spiral out!!!!👊👊👊👊
Hi Sparky! 👋
Maynard is a music genius!!!!!
Not really. I mean OK he wrote the lyrics. But he has almost no word into the arrangements of the instrumental creation. He said that he is the last person who adds to the song.
i love it when vin stops and rewinds back to that epic drop in the song. Emitting such a profoundness through words and music. and emotion.
8:30 thought y'all were gonna start moshing lol love the power and spiritual cadence that this song exhibits
Sori looks like the feminine divine here, genuinely beautiful feminine spirit in this video. Thanks for the videos guys, I've been enjoying your journey :)
Is that squeaky sound Vin's chair, or a smoke alarm that needs the battery changed?
Both! I changed the battery but it’s still beeping
It's Sparky. He has evolved.
I’m looking forward to Refection
Now THIS is the Tool song I've been waiting for them to react to for a while now for obvious reasons.
There is a difference between song writers and composers. Tool doesn't write songs- they compose music.
Aliens jajaja, good shit, don't go there, don't over analyze it... Anyway good trip, dudes
Another fantastic synopsis from both of you. As to the perplexing question, that out of chaos, order can be established without a guiding force.... It probably can't. That doesn't mean, however, that there has to be an omnipotent being, or even consciousness. Forces like gravity, electricity, mass, and other elemental forces are strong enough to bring things together in order. Just like a snow flake. Along with those we don't even understand, like dark matter, dark energy, and more. They could be a god, or gods- choose one out of the thousands. I, myself, will not fall victim to believe in mythology, just cuz I don't know everything. Especially not something as disturbing as the Judeo Christian Islam religions. That shit is just awful.
Such a brilliant song on so many levels. From 7:30 on sends shivers down my spine to this day. Vin, your exuberance there brought a smile to my face. Spiral out!
13:03 Haha! It's crazy Sori made this comparison, because I actually made a Matrix Trilogy tribute video using Lateralus (you can find on my channel here: ruclips.net/video/e8P8o_rd7ck/видео.html) and I used that exact clip during that part of the song! Great minds think alike! ;)
Sweet!! I checked it out! -Sori
Awesome! Thanks for checking it out!
The whole "Spiral out, keep going..." part makes me feel energetic and full of life. It's great. Loved your thoughtful and engaged reaction! Subbed!
easily my favorite Tool song.. lyrically, instrumentally..
Maybe he's referring to himself early in the song to sound less pretentious about the mind set he's proposing we all strive for including himself. Great great break down. Way to keep the focus on Maynard's genius. The other musicians in this band are geniuses in their own right. Tool, top 3 band of all time. Bar none.
13:04 As soon as she said that, I imagined her to be what Trinity would have become had she lived.
But anyway, I love how this song makes you feel, as long as you keep going, and being open to opportunities. You can do and succeed at ANYTHING as long as you KEEP GOING!
An open mind is the only way to experience that which we are unfamiliar, curious and unaware of... to see the wonders beyond our minds and hearts whether it be unknown knowledge to spiritual connection to a peaceful center in this chaotic life that we all share... staying within our predefined boxes of the reality we grow to expect as the norm is a close minded path so break outside the lines and experience the unknown and all the possibilities that we may not even think exists... Much love!!!
Sori...seeing that Gorgeous smile peek out during this song and seeing how you really feel it all the way down to your soul makes me love you even more!! And...yes, Vin is TOTALLY a Tool fan! Lol
Awesome tool weekend really enjoyed this thanks always....btw nonpoint the truth please bruah help me out
Hello once again, The Zeph is here! Lateralus is by far my favorite song by Tool, and I hope you've realized why. Oh, what am I saying? Of course you have. Now that you're pretty much done with the Lateralus album, and the Tool marathon is coming to a close, I wanted to introduce you to a band called Tesseract. Their music is similar to Tool, and the lyrics to their songs also have deep meaning. My personal favorite song by them is Utopia. Oh wait, crap, I forgot. Sorry, I'm sure you already have a list of songs to go through already. So, of course, take your time and enjoy these songs one at a time. Hell, I don't have to tell you that. Love and Peace.
Even the cadence on the lyrics are Fibonacci the words are arranged to add up like the Fibonacci scale ....check it ....btw you guys are awesome
