I think another buff Quan needs is adding another 1.5 seconds to the length of the Bone-CVage and reducing the advantage on block by 8-12. This should allow you to still get the portal out but also allow the first set of skull projectiles to cross the bone-cage too thus making it usable with your ranged game a little like Rain's Whirlpool.
I was the Shao you played on Christmas Eve and you were giving me a whoopin with that Quan chi/Sonya duo. He’s generally a hard matchup for me but now I have some insight into what Quan chi wants to do; thanks.
@@unr34L- It’s an uphill battle, sure. But I got a couple wins in that day. Shao can’t do much, but his kameos can: using Motaros teleport to close distance, or using subzero to cancel out some zoning. Of course, you have to use these at the right time. If Quan chi isn’t on his A-game, it’s easy for Shao to take advantage of that. Not every Quan chi has the same exact gameplan as Dink.
if you hold 1 with the big purple skull it’ll just teleport them above where they got hit and not bring them to you if you wanna use that instead of the big green one to get portal back up!
Though this is true the only application I can find is if you're worried the opponent is going to break and close the distance because you brought them in.
Very interested to see a part 2 of this explaining or talking about his defense and how to get people off you or out of the corner with him. Strats and tips would be great since his greatest weakness is the close up game and his corner lock oit
Nice guide. Bone cage is good idea. I don't use this move at all, need to try it. I often use this combination with a portal if the opponent is far enough: skull, 4+skull, 4+new portal. Or at the end 4+big skull, or 4+kameo to get more plus frames and setup new portal.

This is exactly how i play him, baiting whiff punishers and opening the purple portal, on another channel a guy called me bad etc, he was crying about how bad Quan pokes where, i told him you don't want to do that with Quan and that he's not a rush down character, and i got all the hate ofc onto me😂😂 🎉🎉
@@shujinkydink Likely an oversight. I've been trying to get a string to line up perfectly for it, most consistent in the corner. It's a weird oversight though. Idk how a mid projectile becomes a low.
Wonder if and when they buff Quan Chi what would be the preferred changes? Faster D1, more consistent S4, plug some armor gaps? What would you want while staying "fair" 😆. Is it still too early to say definitively?
Sounds good in theory but its so hard to keep people out because theres so many anti zoning measures in this game. I'll definitely give it a shot though. Not going to drop Quan because he's kinda bad. He's just too cool of a character and I'll just keep using him and hope for some buffs.
A nice 20% kombo with Quan is stand 13 jump 21 f44 if you time it right will be 6 hits at 20% Alternatively you can do a stand 3 jump 21 f44 for about 18% I know it’s low damage but in some situations you need to get a quick chunk of damage off without doing a lot this a good one to fall back on It usually creates a good opportunity for them to want to try to block the over head or mid after and you do a quick db4 to slap em around a bit 🫡🦑💀🏆🔥🎞️📺💀🪶💯

In the corner I like to use back 3, 4 into portal with sektor rocket to try and keep it safe

Quan is much better than I originally thought. His s4 can be oppressive if used right. At my skill level anyway. I do think he has a few bad matchups.

I haven't seen you mention the enhanced Oh/low db1 setup. Do you find it hard to space or impractical?

Quan Chi has decent combos. Motaro, Goro or Sareena are good kameos that help Quan Chi since his close attacks aren't great.
dam Dink; you should demonstrate it in player match, don't matter if you win or lose, just show us your Quan.

More hit advantage on f44. But I am using f21 a little more now, it is easier sometimes
