  • This is my most common question on this channel, how I film myself paddleboarding. I do my best to explain pro and cons and show you how I do it with the three meter long selfie stick. It almost looks like a drone shot but it´s easier to maneuver a 360 camera compared to a drone. I like my system because it´s easy to change views but it have some problems too that you will discover in the video.

    Thank you very much Dan for these clear explanations. It doesn't seem easy to paddle with the camera on top of the pole but it makes extraordinary films! I'm paddling at sea and I only have a DJI pocket 2 which is not waterproof so I have to stop to shoot. I'm planning to equip myself with a Race paddle very soon and I'm going to invest in a waterproof camera, a pole and a very solid fixing system, your video helps me a lot! THANKS !

      Glad that I can help! I hope you find a good solution for your needs. Gopro might be my best camera, but it´s hard to film myself. If I didn´t do RUclips I might only have my iPhone and be satisfied to make a clip now and then and mostly take photos. I have a floaty to gopro and also made a floaty to my iPhone. I really like the feeling that it´s floats if I accidentally drop them into the water and I don´t like to have leashes on my cameras, because it limits me. But all cameras have pro and cons and insta360 x3 make great drone shots. Insta360 x4 have better quality but not as gopro. So a lot of thinking befor buying. Hope it will help.🤗

      Simple, I bought a valve adapter (the same plastic bit used to plug the pump into the valve) melted the end flat and glued a gopro mount on. I just plug it in instead of the valve cap.

    Good question. I've seen people attaching their GoPro's using a head strap or body strap. As I don't have anywhere to connect a camera on my board, a suction cup looks a good idea too

    • @danerik.westerlind

      When it comes to GoPro I use head strap. A GoPro on the board will make an awful frog view but is almost the only way to film myself. So I use GoPro for a lot of things, as my main camera and 360 camera for drone shorts.

    Wouldn't it be easier to put the camera in a backpack? It will be high enough with the selfie stick and you don't have to deal with placing the selfie stick on the paddleboard, which in my opinion is quite limiting in movement

      I have tested like that but I like to get different angles. Of course it limit movements but this is just for short filming. Normally I don’t shot a shot over 30 sec.

    How does the magnetic clamp attach to the paddle board and where can I get the clamp

    • @danerik.westerlind
      @danerik.westerlind  22 дня назад

      @@marvinelliott8287 I attach it with a leash on different places, leash is for safety because it’s my foot that hold it on the board, look at 5:31.
      The clamp is a type like this: www.jula.se/catalog/verktyg-och-maskiner/handverktyg/spannverktyg/snabbklammor/limklamma-013132/
      Just measure which size you need and the other is Magnetic Swivel Clip.

    I find that the quality is very low with the lens cover on. What do you do about that?

      @@Sarahbdiab hmm, quality gets lower with lens cover, I don’t do anything, just go with what I get.🤗

    You do get amazing shots, well done, it's hard to do. Gopro is not the best, but it is robust. By the way I think I have a genius way of attaching an action camera to a paddle board or inflatable kayak.
