I would agree with that. Before RUclips when I was in my teens and all the way through my 20's, I used to go spear fishing all the time like this. I even made my own spear gun and then traded it for a used Riffe. I actually liked the one I built better than the Riffe because the balance was better. Mine had many Riffe parts. Some were modified and some I made.

A friend told how the whole crew of their boat was sold cuban cigars. Then as they were about to depart the next day the customs turned up. It was "discovered" they had the cigars. They were fined. Cigars confiscated.....and somewhere in the background was the guy that sold them the cigars. It seems they have unusual methods of earning a living :) Lesson learned.
What I don't understand is Cuba is under an embargo for being Communist but China and Russia are also the same. Why are the Cubans still driving around in cars from the 50s? Why won't China or Russia bring that island up to modern standards? View's welcome?

I was in Cayo Largo in 1993. Loved the place, the beach and the people. The finest and whitest sand I ever saw! Good diving also to see the black coral.

I know, people will say the government is the problem, but why do we embargo them, when we don't with VN or China etc? If we just let them trade, they people would have a lot more.....
Probably because all the money would go to that government you say is the problem. People would have more if they didnt have that government not because of any embargo
