- In this episode of SCS On The Road, we were given the special opportunity to get a close up look at one of Scania Fully Electric Trucks, at the Scania Demo Centre, located in Södertälje, Sweden. Join Oscar, our Director of Global Partnerships, and Fredrik Sunden, Expert Engineer at Scania Group as they talk about the development of the Scania 45 R, the little sister to the Scania 40 & 45 S, and give you a guided walk-around and POV from the cabin as they drive it on the test track.

SCS, please focus more on Diesel Trucks, Volvo , Scania and Iveco didnt get one for a long time.

They have to have the authorization of the car manufacturers. The new Mercedes, Scania and Volvo are almost ready to be added.

I drive a Scania with compressed natural gas and it is very expensive with a lot of stability and very good I am from Mexico and here the flat cars thing started to come in a lot.
Sadly these new technologies will inevitably be quite expensive for a long while. Development of these new systems takes a lot of money and infrastructure costs, which will always trickle down to the customer instead of anyone born with a silver spoon in their mouth.
Eventually though, as technologies become better understood and more prevalent, costs will go down. So is the cost of innovation, which takes time and commitment not too many people seem enthused to undertake.
Things have to get a little worse before they get a lot better. At least Scania and other major corporations are able to pretend that they care about bettering the lives of the average person.
Edit: The stranglehold that oil barons have on the economy doesn't exactly help the development timeframes of better technologies either.

14:32 I don’t think that a 45 mins break gets you 60% of a 624kWh battery with a 375 kW charger. You’ll get an additional 45% of charge within 45min off a 375 kW charger in ideal condition since 45/60*375/624*100%=45.07%.

624kWh is the nominal battery capacity. In reality, the available capacity is about 75% of those 624.
Awesome to see insights of such innovations! That smart drive concept is really nice idea for interesting routes. In game, you can pick any route you like, but on real road it's all about economics. Now, this technology gives us a way to experience interesting roads and be more efficient, both for the planet and wallet. Looking forward to other electric trucks in game and tours with partners! Hope to see something about Volvo Trucks as well. Scania is a gorgeous, but they have so many trucks already in game (and deserve it), but Volvo are kind of lacking any attention for a while. I wonder if they are not as interested in cooperation? Hope it's not the case here. Both of those companies are building the future here and now. Video games and simulations are part of that future, they only win from cooperation with such an enthusiastic community.
I thought that In the game,we can change or pick a truck with cameras instead of mirrors but I guess we are not in that situation so far because they don't have that kind of equipment yet and cameras is way better then mirrors I think....you dont need to turn your head every time in real life ofcourse,you can just move your eyes but for game,you don't need to have wide viewing angle to see them because it's implemeted in interior....
l hope Mark will drive one of these too soon , although he loves long heads lol

This is amazing, the vehicle irl and seeing electric options come to Euro Truck Simulator II. It sounds like a dream to drive in both situations, and I'm glad to see developers of a game who are able to evolve along with reality instead of stubbornly sticking to rolling coal. I hope the negative comments here don't get to you guys too much (I know they can get to me); we who are ready for a better future will still be practicing with your wonderful simulators.

Having Electric base vehicle cloud be fun experience in the game. The question is how you guys gonna implemented it into the game ? like are there gonna be some charging station nearby ? also EV performance is quite difference to a vehicle with combustion engine, while EV had better acceleration and instan pulling power in retrun they do have less range than any conventional vehicle

I like Scania's conservative approach to electric trucks. The transportation industry and truck drivers value reliability and familiarity, so they may not like too many changes in new products. It's a pretty good idea to maintain the design of existing Scania trucks and increase parts compatibility. (The Tesla Semi, on the other hand, is a nightmare truck.)

Why isn´t there classical Hybrid trucks? Like Mercedes has DE road cars.
Meanwhile the new series of V8's and Super engines are left behind for something that really does not work very well in the game... No hate on Electric engines, but it would be a smart move to actualy have some kind of charging network or something in some areas of the map...
...engines no one uses in real life anymore.

but they will do it. the next trucks were the mp5, volvo 2020 and scania 770. If they hadn't put the two electric ones, Renault and scania wouldn't let them make other trucks.

They already are, and Electric Trucks are coming from ALL BRANDS like it or not, SCS can't say no to the truck manufacturers if they want to keep getting licenses for more trucks.

This is the same truck as diesel Scania. It is not interesting. If you want to add a new trucks - start working with rigid chassis. We dont need reworks of trucks with no sound engine
Rigid chassis requires licenses wich are not cheap so this truck is supposed to make the game sell more and then they can pay for licenses
